She knew that she was going to drown in those perfectly, clear, sapphire pools. As she stared into their endless depths, she felt herself falling, falling, falling. Despite this, she was cheered and expectant; strange emotions for a woman condemned to drowning. So she didn’t resist, didn’t struggle, didn’t try to stop the inevitable; instead she let herself be drawn in as if it were a lover’s embrace.
A sudden, sharp sound brought Usagi back to her senses and she felt her face flushing as she realized she’d been staring into Mamoru’s eyes. She could only pray he didn’t notice.
