About
UrbanWire is an online entertainment/lifestyle newsmagazine produced by final-year online journalism students of the School of Film & Media Studies, Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore.

The magazine exists to give its target audience of 18- to 25-year-olds:
<<< a voice,
<<< community and
<<< engaging and relevant reading through features, style, nightlife, people, gallery, wired life, reviews (music, movies, food, events, TV and games) and sports articles written by other young adults.

On top of Internet exclusives, we also aim to be definitive source of campus news by being a one-stop source of the best reporting carried out by our peers in Print Journalism (campus newspaper Ngee Ann Tribune and hype magazine), TV Journalism (a weekly newscast), Radio Journalism and Photojournalism.

As a service to our sponsors, we design flash ads (150 x 180 pixels) for sponsorships valued at a minimum of $250. UrbanWire.com, being a non-profit site, does not take cash but products for these ads that are then channelled to our readers.

Our contributors are required to assign copyright to us because our agreement with an American wire agency is contingent on their not needing to get permission to distribute to newspapers and other websites anything within UrbanWire.com. This arrangement is, we believe, beneficial to our contributors and journalists because it opens the door for publication in America.

Again, because we are non-profit, we are unable to pay writers for their articles. We are grateful that this has not stopped a number of talented individuals from sending in their pieces. They include Shawn Wickens, an editorial cartoonist from Ohio, and more recently, Hanny Wan, who is reading her Journalism Masters in Chicago.

Due to our term structure, UrbanWire will be updated less frequently during the school holiday months of May, June, November and December.
