Lobo Orientation [14 Jul 2008|05:14pm]

harmnotourqueen
My session starts tomorrow. Any advice? comments? anything, really, would be nice.
Not nervous, just not sure what to expect. Those overly cheerful pamphlets aren't exactly reassuring.

Hello [26 Jun 2008|05:05pm]

soulwired
Hey everyone,

I'm a recent admit to the university, and I'm going for my 2nd Bachelor's Degree. I'm just introducing myself here in the hopes of meeting a few new people, so...hello!

Any Engineering majors out there? I'm currently on track for Comp Engineering, but thinking about switching to Mech Engineering - anyone have any insight? Thanks in advance.

Oil Paints that need to go [10 Jun 2008|09:38pm]

grygon
The CL ad:
http://albuquerque.craigslist.org/art/715589764.html

Basics- I have $180 worth of oil painting supplies that must go. Most of it is barely even used. I'm asking $105. The entire list of what exactly has to go, even things I'm not charging for, is in that link.

Great deal for art students. Wish I had been able to buy used, considering most of those oils I barely opened. *grumble grumble smile*

Comics exhibition opening at MIAC: Sunday, May 11, 1:00-4:00PM [05 May 2008|02:48pm]

athomeaway

Santa Fe, NMStorytelling has long been a part of Native American culture. Comic Art Indigène which opens at the Museum of Indian Arts and Culture on May 11, 2008 looks at how storytelling has been used through comics and comic inspired art to express the contemporary Native American experience. Under the larger definition of narrative art, comic art is more related to Native American art traditions than one might expect.

Comic Art Indigène examines how American Indian artists articulate identity, reclaim stereotypes, worldview, politics, and culture through the kinetic expression of sequential art. Inspired by this unique medium, using its icons, tropes and dynamism, this is a new world of American Indian art, full of the brash excitement first seen on newsprint a century ago, sometimes unrefined, even crude at times, but never sterile.

Opening events on Sunday, May 11th , from 1-4pm include a drum group, artist roundtable, gallery tours, costume contest, and family activities including; make your own comic or ledger art, create your superhero emblem, and more.  The Museum of Indian Arts and Culture is located on Museum Hill™, Camino Lejo off Old Santa Fe Trail in Santa Fe, NM.

NM telephone numbers that are not in Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, and Farmington have now changed to area code 575. When dialing they will work with the 505 area code for a year, but for now it's something to be aware of if you screen your phone calls.

Okay, so it's a shameless plug, but I'm selling a ton of crap on craigslist. My mom bought us a dining room set the same weekend that we bought ourselves a new bed, so now we're trying to get rid of a whole apt's worth of stuff.

Riding the Bus [10 Aug 2007|02:18pm]

chickyboo
I guess that now it is FREE for UNM students to ride the city buses so long as we go get a sticker from the bookstore. Have any of you had good experiences with prolonged use of the buses?

With the super-high price of shuttle parking, and the fact that to get to any classes between 8-10 you have to get to the parking lot 40 minutes in advance, the long ride on the bus isn't sounding so bad.

Any work study students need a job for the summer and/or fall? Peacecraft is hiring. We're a non-profit organization that sells fair trade items made from co-ops around the world. Schedules are flexible around classes.
We are also in need of volunteers. Since we're a non-profit, most of our help comes from volunteers and we're always in need of more. Work a few hours a month or a few hours every week. It's up to you.
Peacecraft is at 3215 Central NE in Nob Hill, across from Kelly's and right next to Birdland.
Thanks!
If you have any questions you can just reply to this, stop by or call the store.

Hello, [info]unm_lobos :D

I have a few questions about the school that I hope someone will be able to answer.

1. If I'm married to a NM resident, but I've lived in New York my whole life (planning on moving in August, boyfriend moved to NM in september, would be willing to speed up the wedding for tuition purposes), would I be eligible for in-state tuition?

2. How's the nursing school? Would they be willing to overlook a sort of shitty GPA if I had an otherwise strong application?

Thanks!
