Nino and Erika hit it off beautifully—so beautifully, in fact, that Ryo needs a few days spent on set listening to them to even start seeing through some of the wickedly wrapped insults they throw at each other. Actually, Ryo is not even sure they are insults at all, but there is always something intense in the way they would address each other, something playful and challenging that would make even a simple 'good morning' sound like a promise and an invitation wrapped in a declaration of war.

Two weeks into the shooting, Ryo decides he wants in on the fun if only to protect his reputation as the resident snarky bitch of the Jimusho, and makes it a habit to stick to them in breaks whenever he can.

"Did you know," Erika says casually, swirling her tea around in its tiny plastic cup, "that coffee stunts growth?"

Nino blinks at her, wide-eyed in a really fake manner, then down at his coffee, then back at her again. "Ahhh, I see. So you decided to quit. I wonder, did the decision come too late?"

Ryo snorts and can't quite decide where to look; at Erika's pretty eyes narrowing in irritation or the smirk of triumph blooming on Nino's face.

"Did you know," Erika says softly, fighting a grin, "that nicotine will make you impotent?"

Nino shrugs and takes a long, long drag on his cigarette before replying, "Lucky Oh-chan doesn't want brats, then. Hey, Toda-chan, did you know that sex is good for your health?"

"So, what? In the end, it all balances out?" Erika finishes for him.

Nino pretends to examine his shoes shyly. "What can I say, health is an important factor in one's life. I work hard to protect mine." He peaks out from behind his bangs, and suddenly Ryo is all too aware of those infamous all-knowing eyes staring straight at him, along with Erika's. "Do you, Nishiki?"

Ryo swallows thickly, and he might even stutter something half-illegible about needing a touch-up before not-quite-running off in a random direction.

This is how it goes for a while, with the innuendos and them being directed at Ryo more often than not, until Ryo can't help blushing ten shades of scarlet whenever Pi asks about Erika or Jun tells him to watch out for Nino because God knows he's been acting all suspicious and smug lately.

How all this verbal foreplay is finally put into action is something Ryo truly wishes he remembered. There's a little staff get-together at a BBQ place, there is alcohol—lots—and then, sometime later, there are Erika's little hands under his shirt and Nino's wicked grin against the side of his neck and the sharp wood of the frame of his very own front door pressing between his shoulder blades as someone pushes him against it.

Ryo expected this to be a sexually frustrating job for various reasons, some of them being that Nino is known to tease but generally stick to his actual girlfriend (and Arashi if you can believe the urban legend), and everyone in the industry knows that Toda Erika does simply not put out.

Apparently, everyone in the industry is wrong.
