Hey so, just a pretty rough timetable for Radio Free Terracon in the style of Kat's timetable.
With events or any other activities, these are pretty broad time slots so I figure you can do your show when you're done with the event (or if it's a playlist and you don't want to listen you could conceivably set it up beforehand). I've left gaps for the big evening events which presumably most people will be at, as such I figured people wouldn't want to put on their shows at this time as there would be little/no audience, anything written in the same timeslot is intended for after that event finishes.)
| Time | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | | Late Morning | | Tommo/Amber, these four big slots contain the times both of you want to do your shows. Chances are even if you don't decide which and when they won't overlap, but maybe decide between yourselves just incase | | Afternoon | | | Night | (Dinner) | (Quiz Night) | (Closing Dinner) | | Later that night | Nic's Talk Show | Nic's Talk Show | Maybe Nic's Talk Show | | Very Late | | Tom L (or another day, if you prefer) | |
I'll be putting together some playlists of various genres including of course "Vikings and Dragons" to put on when no one is on plus working on a show or two to do. Also if you want to do something, editing this box is pretty much the easiest thing ever so just tell me/post here whatever.
So yeah, how does this sound?
And for interest here's a quote from a very reliable source (Wikipedia) about what 'Radio Free' means: "The term "Radio Free" is prefixed to several radio stations which were set up by United States Central Intelligence Agency to deliver news to countries strategically important to the foreign relations of the United States." Though it goes on to state that it's used by a number of radio stations just as names, and even by things not radio stations/shows at all!

If there's a song you'd like to hear at the "End of the World" party at Terracon on Friday night, now is the time to say so. |

Hey guys, the Chuck marathon should hopefully be going ahead as outlined here, but due to technical difficulties (ie my computer refusing to acknowledge the TV for no reason anyone can work out), we're going to need another laptop to run it off. So if you're planning on coming to the marathon please bring a computer if you can and hopefully we can run it off one of them. I have all the cables and the episodes are on an external harddrive so that shouldn't be a problem. As far as we can tell everything is in working order, the problem is with my laptop being finicky.Current Mood: annoyed

| » Stocktake: the Librarian's post |
Oh look, there is this position called librarian filled by someone called Nic :P
Whilst Taleesha was going to do much of the work, as she has finished exams, and I may be busy doing honours research, it can still occur without her. I will be at uni all day, every weekday. This is going to take several days, at least.
This is what is going to happen: 1. Reorder the bookshelves again. This will be done in alphabetical order by author AND TITLE. People can put books in chronological order of series later, if they really want, but it has to be in this order so as to enable quick and easy checking of doubles. 2. Scan every single book on the shelves, entering any books that Koha has lost the information for. 3. Check doubles cupboards against shelves, scan and shelve any books that are *magically* not doubles any more. 4. At some point purge Koha of all the entries that have not been recently seen (scanned). 5. Go through the vast piles of new/donated books, and check against shelves for those we have and do not have. 6. A decision is made regarding which doubles to keep.
The crucial element is that there is continuity in the way everyone is doing these things over the course of the stocktake, which is why the presence of of Taleesha or me is important. Discontinuity will lead to disorder, and we must purge the heretic.
The removal of doubles has made some (10%) space for new books, especially due to our "keep softcover version, unless the hardcover is completely awesome" rule.

Hi guys, I'll be doing a stocktake in unisfa starting on Thursday. If you have any books, please bring them back! (If the room is closed leave books on top of the returns/doubles box in the corridor).
If you want to help, I'm thinking of starting around 12.30pm - email me your number so I can tell you if my denist appointment turns out to be more serious than anticipated and we have to postpone.
See you then,

| » Chuck S1 Marathon! |
When: Thursday 18th June - 10am start Where: UniSFA Bring: Snacks, drinks, money if we're going to order pizza etc for lunch/dinner and to spend on our [hopefully] well stocked fridge that contains drinks, chocolate, ice-creams and pizza pockets.
Chuck is about an "average computer-whiz-next-door" who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend now working in the CIA. The message embeds the only remaining copy of the world's greatest spy secrets into Chuck's brain. He must use the knowledge he now possesses to help the government thwart assassins and international terrorists — upending his previously uneventful life. In order to preserve their safety, Chuck must keep his new-found occupation a secret from his family and friends. Hijinks ensue!
Tentative Timetable for the day: S1 has 13 eps, each of which are 45 min long. Be there at 9:45am for a 10:00am start! We'll be showing two eps in a row followed by a 15min break with a half-hour break for lunch and dinner.
9:45am - Set up 10:00am - Ep1 and 2 11:30am - Break 11:45am - Ep 3 and 4 1:15pm - Lunch Break [Order pizza or something?] 1:45pm - Ep 5 and 6 3:15pm - Break 3:30pm - Ep 7 and 8 5:00pm - Break 5:15pm - Ep 9 and 10 6:45pm - Dinner Break [Broadway kebabs? Turkish bread? etc] 7:15pm - Ep 11, 12, 13 9:30pm - Finish and clean up the clubroom
I'm really not expecting us to stick to the timetable and I know we'll end up having breaks that are longer etc but at least this way we won't finish too late if we go overtime.
So, who's in? FB event link: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=103392932528&ref=mf

| » Terracon Itinererararary |
Hi there zombies, survivors and unsuspecting pedestrians!
Here is a very incredibly rough and flexible itinerary for Terracon. Let me know if you want to run an event or move something around!
Edit: Amended itinerary
| Time | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | | Morning | Arrive at Donnelly | Iron Stomach | | | Afternoon | Humans still arriving | Evan's LARP
TAR | LARP?
Calendar shoot here? | | Night | Fresher welcome + Dinner | Quiz Night | Closing Dinner | | Later that night | End of the World Party w/ DJ Tommo
Spotlight | Zompocalypse | Slave Auction and God Elections |
Notes:
- This is pretty flexible and more or less just a rough guide so you can RFT
- So it can and most likely will be changed around, but whatever, we can deal with this
- Btw go to here or here to sign up for RFT
- DJ Tommo may choose to change his name, this is fine
- Does someone want to run another LARP? The TF2 LARP last year was pretty great, and I've heard good things about the Dune LARP that was run a few years ago.
- On that note, LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT TO RUN SOMETHING, ANYTHING
- I have 60 people on my list that have bought tickets. Buy tickets asap if you haven't already!
- Also, I need helpers for many things (Spotlight, God Elections etc) so volunteer pls
- I will be giving out Unisfa Dollars to people who help me with things, to spend at the Slave Auction

I'm quite sick and not leaving the house today. Chris was going to run the screening but many things including, no keys, lack of interest and assignment dramas means he has to come home too. Plus he wants to take care of me :)

| » Screening tomorrow night |
So I walked into my local video store, and looked once more through the Sci-Fi section. I picked up the movie Code 46 because, whilst it seemed like yet another "authoritarian dystopia where government guy falls in love with rebel girl" (eg. Logan's Run, Equilibrium, Fahrenheit 451, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera), it still looked better than Red Sonja and Zardoz. Also it is directed by Michael Winterbottom, and whilst he has made some bad strange movies, he has also made some interesting strange movies.
I checked wikipedia when I got home, and it seems less boring than first thought, though apparently the acting lacks romantic chemistry according to the reviews.
But anyway, that is what we are watching from 7pm tomorrow night.

| » Thatcher's Question |
On behalf of Thatcher who refuses to pay for his LJ account.
Firstly let me say thanks to Kat for an awesome wine and cheese night at her place. More UniSFA parties should be held there immediately!
During the course of aforementioned event, I was asked on numerous occasions as to if I were attending Terracon this year, so for something to promote procrastination for a little longer a populist poll for you all:
Poll #1401079 Thatcher's Poll
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: AllShould Thatcher attend Terracon 2009? Poll results may or may not be taken into account by the Committee and if we dont like the answer we will just trial Thatcher at Terracon next year then run another referendum to check that you are really really sure of your vote.

So keep it in your diaries!
