Day 11 - Moving on

Bin
5 candle-holders (three of which broke on the journey to the bin, so I had no excuse then)
2 old massage bars
1 cot toy covered with baby rice and filled with a dead battery

Charity
1 kitchen mandolin
12 pairs baby shoes
1 agency nurse's uniform
2 maternity dresses
1 pair trousers
1 breadmaker book (I got this just before I was diagnosed with coeliac disease. I have kept it because? Perhaps subconsciously I hoped one day I'd wake up and not be coeliac any more. Not going to happen! Mainly I kept it because it was on the bookshelf out of the way, not calling attention to itself, and when I did see it I thought "must get rid of that some time".)

Today I took my life and gave it a shake, reminded myself that some life stages aren't going to be revisited, and got rid of the products. I got married in 1997 and divorced in 2001. Since then I've remarried. I doubt I'll marry again, and I won't be wanting to wear my first wedding dress even if I do, so, into the charity box went:
1 wedding corset
1 pair wedding shoes

1 wedding headdress
1 wedding dress

In addition, I am not going to be having any more babies, but a friend of mine is having her first later this year. So I have a new box, into which I'm putting stuff that she might want. If she doesn't, it'll go to charity.

baby
1 roll flushable nappy liners
7 cloth nappies
4 nappy wraps
2 stuffable nappies
1 swim nappy
1 belly belt
1 travel change mat
1 top and tail bowl
1 toilet seat insert
1 toilet step
1 maternity car-seat belt
10 baby/weaning books
1 pack maternity expansion belts

I'm really impressed. I'm sure that at a different time, those could have been very hard things to part with. I think that passing the baby things on is a lovely idea. Flo's washable nappies kept FIVE babies clean and dry in the end!!
The wedding things have been in the garage for ten years or so but I have impetus now! They're doing me no good, perhaps someone else can make use of them. Even if it's just to cut the dress down for something else!
I know a would-be fashion designer who would be over the moon to have that opportunity. If you were just going to be giving it away, would you tell me first and I can make you an offer??
If she wants the dress (and/or shoes) let me know and I'll post them on. I'll take them out of the charity box tonight so they don't get taken before she's had a chance to think about it.
Sorry to take so long to get back to you: but yes, she would love it. Don't worry about the shoes (beautiful though they are) but the dress would be BRILLIANT.

Shall I paypal you the postage at least?!
I am happy to pay to get stuff out of the house now (if I wanted the money I'd be ebaying everything from books onwards). Let me call it an investment in education!
That is incredibly kind of you. I don't suppose, under the circumstances that you want me to send you some cards*??

Shout when you have run out, you've got a handful on account :-)

*(more designs going in the shop later today)
I love your cards, but it seems wrong to swap my junk for your professional output!

Dress posted this afternoon. Addressed to you, because I didn't know would-be fashion designer's surname.
Oh, thank you!!

And no, not wrong at all. You have some waiting on account for whenever you want them.

Same as mine :-)

(icon is you)

*applauds*

Good on you!
