Gojyo had disappeared somewhere, so Hakkai shut the door on an empty room upon stepping into the hall. It would certainly be nice to get together with Goku for a while. The young man's enthusiasm and innocence never failed to chase away Hakkai's melancholy, which he had been feeling of late.

He stepped into the cafeteria, noted he was the only one there, and began piling food he knew to be edible on a tray, to save Goku the trouble when he arrived.

Once satisfied with the large amount of food he'd collected on a table, Hakkai seated himself with a cup of tea to wait for his companion's arrival.

It had only taken him a while, but Goku had found the cafeteria. He was more than eager to be able to eat and be able to hang out with Hakkai. After all, besides Sanzo, Hakkai was the one he liked being around more since he was so nice and seemed to be able to tolerate him.

All but running into the cafeteria, it didn't take long before golden eyes rested on Hakkai. Grinning madly, he ran up to the older man with eagerness in his gaze. "Hey there, Hakkai!" He greeted rather cheerfully, tone optimistic and bright as he spoke.

"Hello, Goku," Hakkai responded with a smile, glad to see his companion was in good spirits. "Have a seat," he said, gesturing to the chair across from him. "Everything here should be safe to eat, so please feel free."

Goku blinked owlishly before looking to the tray full of all the different foods with hungry golden eyes. Quickly nodding, he moved to sit across from Hakkai, grinning as much ever. "Thanks, Hakkai!!"

After that, he all but started eating, only pausing after a moment or two. "...I was starting to think not much food here was edible at all.." he got out inbetween a bite before continuing on as he had before.

"You're welcome, Goku." Hakkai smiled.

"Ah, all of the food is edible, it's just that I wouldn't advise eating most of it," Hakkai clarified. "Fortunately, most of the things we're used to eating don't have any ill effects." He sipped reflectively at his tea and watched Goku eat. It was nice to see some things never changed.

"Yeah, someone told me about that.." A few bites of food, "can't believe anyone'd do that to food.." Swallowing a biteful of food, he licked his lips and looked around the room briefly.

"...though.. I wish this place had meat buns..." Goku frowned at the idea that one of his favorite foods wasn't even here and he couldn't even have one until he left this place. Shaking his head he went back to eating, at least half of what was on the tray pretty much half gone by now.

"Well, the world is full of unsavory people," Hakkai said rhetorically. "And at least there are a few things here you like, right?" He sipped his tea again. "How have you and Sanzo been getting along? I never see much of either of you."

Nodding to those words, he continued eating with a smile in place, pausing once more when he heard Hakkai speak again once more. "...Me n' Sanzo? Fine.. though he doesn't really talk to me.."

Setting down the forkful of food, he licked his lips shortly. "...Being here's nothing like on the road, Hakkai. It's pretty boring..." he noted absently, golden eyes staring up to the ceiling.

Hakkai laughed. "Well, that's Sanzo for you." It really was nice to know some things never changed. Oddly, he felt a little better for that realization. "I'm glad you're both getting on well."

"It is quite boring, isn't it?" Hakkai agreed, staring reflectively into his tea. If it weren't for Gojyo, life in this place would be very dull indeed. But that was hardly something he could share with Goku. "We could always play cards together like we used to. I found a pack in my belongings."

"Me too! Though lately Sanzo seems more pissy than normal. Think it's this place?" He asked curiously, golden eyes watching the other briefly before looking away as if in thought.

Goku then immediately perked up at that before grinning widely. "kickass! That's be great, Hakkai!" Being able to spend time with his friends here seemed to be a huge prospect for him and he missed being able to play cards like they used to back on the road.

"Anything is possible," Hakkai responded. "But if I had to guess, I'd say you're right on with that assumption." Sanzo was a cranky bastard at the best of times, and this certainly was not the best of times.

Goku's enthusiasm brought a genuine smile to Hakkai's face. "Well, then! We'll have to arrange to get together as soon as possible!" he said. "I'm sure Sanzo and Gojyo would enjoy the distraction too."
