I got my diploma ... U of M can't spell!
So I opened up my diploma and it just didn't look right. After about 5 seconds I realized that they awarded my degree as "Bachlor of Science."

I wouldn't have expected this from the University of Michigan! I'm sure others received this error as well?

May I ask what degree you expected...?

I think a bachElor of science would have been more appropriate. ;)

Yowsers—I missed that on first glance. I thought you were maybe expecting and arts degree, or a PhD or something.

If they did that to you, I bet they did that to a lot of people. What a fiasco!

Ditto ... at first I thought you expected a Bachelor of Arts or something, but then I saw the typo! Eeek :(.

Mine is correct, but I wonder how that could have happened. And how it could have been missed.

Call the registrars office they will send you a new one. They misspelled literature on mine when I got it.

LOL that's worse than mine where they just decided to switch the degree I was getting from BS to BSE ...

And I probably wouldn't have noticed right away except you put it in your paragraph.

I find the diploma to be disappointing overall. (Small size, thin paper, and now typos)

I was also disappointed with my diploma, for the same reasons. It just doesn't look very nice

that's sad. I'm a grad student here, and I'm looking forward to my eventual diploma. My undergrad diploma (small liberal arts school) was soooo beautiful. I spent the whole year after I got it occasionally just staring at it.

Really? That's a bummer. I graduated over a year ago and I haven't actually seen my diploma yet. It was sent to my parents place and my mom scanned it and sent me a copy of the image. I didn't realize that it was cheaply produced. Now I'm going to have to look for typos.

I ordered their picture frame thing and so it came already in it and it has this nice frame with matting that has the seal in gold on it and it looks absolutely gorgeous... and I graduated in december, so I doubt they changed it between then and now

I must have little faith in the system, because I definitely expected there to be a typo somewhere on my diploma. There still could be...I'm not that astute at finding spelling errors...hehe, oops.

The misspelling sucks, but I am kind of intrigued to actually see what the diplomas look like. I must say, I am a bit disappointed. I always thought it would say something like "Bachelor of Science in Biology" or something like that when I got mine. It doesn't even say what your major is at all?

Yeah, they don't say what your major was/is. I was disappointed in that.

I'm surprised they don't just have all the Bachelor of Science/Arts/etc. diplomas (diplomae? wutevar) printed en masse with blank spots for the student's name and school/college. Or maybe this was truly a freak mechanical error of the printer.
