AboutFor those interested in or involved in the black art of politics, or in discussions about the political system of the UK. This can (and hopefully *will*) include party politics, anti-party politics, social, sexual and gender politics and discussion about (legal) direct action events. Promoting or cross-posting to other communities is usually not acceptable (write to the maintainer first) and may be deleted on sight.
Please also note that this community is a discussion forum and not a research tool for students. If you are looking for comments then tell us your views first! (You are much more likely to promote discussion and get responses if you say something interesting rather than just ask for help without giving your own input on the subject)
A few rules to try and keep things on an even keel:
Only members may post. Comments by non-members will be screened. Comments are expected to be on-topic and polite. Anonymous comments are banned. Never delete someone else's comment (but feel free to ask them to reconsider their position). Repeat: cross-posting is not welcome; either you want your thoughts to be considered carefully by this community's members, or you are spamming, and either will probably result in your posting ability being suspended for a while. IP Addresses are always logged. Although this is a forum for discussion of politics in all its forms - no flaming! Please do not fight with other users. If the content of your post contravenes applicable laws it may be removed. Posting long diatribes consecutively will be frowned on and may result in the short-term removal of posting ability. If you want to voice opposition to something brought up in here or in the news, you must say more than 'this sucks'... you must explain your reasoning. Thank you! And remember ... you always have a choice; if this is not the community you seek feel free to find another ;-P
Membership: In part, due to idiots creating fake accounts for the purpose of mass-spamming communities this community has moderated membership so there may be a short delay until you can post here. Also, this is a *UK* politics community. If your user profile doesn't appear to demonstrate a connection to the UK and its politics then you are unlikely to be allowed to post. Similarly, if your LJ is brand new (or newish with no/few visible posts) and without friends then I'll take that lack of track record as a lack of reason to add you here safely. Anyone can read the community though.
