Having to Outsource for Once
Who: Gunn OT Everyone in Angel's Office
Where: Angel's Office
When: Early Evening
Status: Open

They had searched everywhere for her, and they couldn't find her. Alonna had went off on her own, just like Gunn had reminded her time and time again not to. She was supposed to be going off and getting everyone some food, so it wasn't like he could object too much there. Still, when she never came back home yesterday, he got worried. He and the rest of his gang combed the streets all night, but they hadn't been able to find her. Now he was in an all-out freak mode trying to find her.

Gunn had heard about this place. Angel Investigations. He didn't know what the hell the picture on the flyer was, but that didn't matter right now. He didn't exactly have the money to pay for their services, but he'd worry about that later. Gunn was worried that some vampire who had an attitude about him killing other vamps and snatched her or something. He didn't really know. All he had to go on was where she was supposed to go and that she didn't come back. She never would do that to him.

Gunn walked into the office. Not seeing anyone right away, he called out, "Yo, anyone actually work in this place?" All he knew about these guys were that they took the cases that you couldn't go to the cops with. Well, not that he could go to the cops with his, anyway. Why would they look for a lone homeless black girl? They had more important people to look for, usually either richer or with lighter skin. Usually both.

After a few days of absolutely no luck of coming up with information from any of Angel or Doyle's sources, they were back to square one. All Cordelia wanted to do was burst in and find the information themselves, but of course, her oh-so-loving boss wouldn't hear any of it.

Whatever, she wasn't fragile. She was a girl from Sunnydale, which meant--hello--she was totally used to taking care of herself and fending off crazy hellbeasts and vampires. She wasn't sure if there were any in Wolfram and Hart, but they weren't going to know if they didn't burst in there and find out.

After her five millionth google search, she breathed out a frustrated sigh, "Ahhh! I give up!" Those damn lawyers covered their tracks too well. She scooted her chair out and moved over the coffee pot, pouring herself another cup. She knew the almighty boss would be up soon, so he liked his coffee hot. It was weird making coffee both in the morning and at night, but that's what happened when you worked for a vampire.

As she sauntered into his office, cup in hand to see what he was working on, a voice startled her, making her spill her coffee all over the floor near Angel's desk. "Crap," she muttered.

"One second!" she called out, trying to sound chipper, but also trying to hide the annoyance in her voice. She set her cup down on his desk, inevitably leaving a ring on some ancient parchment (oh well, it was already stained with ancient who-knows-what) and poked her head out of the office.

She took in the sight of the newcomer, noticing his ghetto-fabulous clothes. Oh god, maybe he was in a gang. What if he was robbing her? What if--No, Cordelia, that's so rude. You can't just immediately stereotype people. Didn't you learn anything in high school? He's probably just a client who needs help. Oooh, a client. Hopefully with money.

God, she hoped so. They hadn't had a client in ages and she was already behind on her rent for her beyond crappy apartment. Either way, she stuck out her hand and plastered a big smile on her face, "Hi, I'm Cordelia," she said, "This is Angel Investigations. Do you need some help?"

Angel had been about to go upstairs, anyway, but voices brought him out there a little quicker. Fortunately, voices also meant he didn't go inside his office right away, leaving him blissfully unaware for the time being of the puddle of coffee by his desk.

Cordelia was already onto their client (at least, he assumed it was a client, given the chipper way she was greeting him), so he hung a step or two back while he waited for the man to answer her question.

Not quite the typical person who often stepped inside this office, though, even if Angel was going off of first impressions alone here. Still, something was different--the way he moved. Time would tell soon enough, he supposed.

Gunn stuck out his hand and shook hers. He needed to play nice if he was going to get some help finding his sister. Was this girl the secretary? And what kind of name was Cordelia? He'd never heard of it anyway, but he knew that wasn't really saying much. "Gunn. Charles Gunn. Yeah, actually, I do need some help."

If only she knew just how much he hated to admit that. Gunn was never one to ask for help with anything, whether it was to clean out a vamp nest or just moving a couch that they found into the place. Alonna used to be on his case all the time about doing stuff like that. Never asking for help. She once even jokingly made a sign for him to wear around his neck that said 'If I don't ask for help, please offer.' Kind of sad that the first time he goes for some help is when she gets kidnapped and he's exhausted all of their resources.

"My sister, Alonna, got snatched up yesterday. I tend to make enemies with people with severe skin allergies, if you catch my drift. I've already tried looking in all the places where I know that they gather, but she's not there. This isn't exactly something I can go to the police with, you know what I'm saying?" Of course, one of the reasons that he couldn't go to the police was because both he and Alonna would both probably be arrested for the random shoplifting that they had done to feed themselves, among other things he had done.

"Gunn?" Cordelia repeated, wanting to ask, what kind of name was that? But thought better of it when Angel came into the room. He probably wouldn't appreciate her making fun of the clients.

She picked up a notepad and began writing as he spoke: Sister, Alonna, snatched, vamps. "Believe us, we totally get that. Well, he does, anyway," she said, gesturing to Angel. And suddenly, thinking, Oops! It probably wouldn't be best to give away that her boss was a vampire when this guy clearly was not too happy with vampires. "I just mean, we fight them all the time and stuff. Been in the business forever, well, I guess, a couple months is more accurate. But, we'll totally help you."

She glanced out the window, noticing it was already dark outside. Jeez, where did the time go? Oh yeah, it went to incredibly boring and useless research. "You can't go to the police 'cause you're, like, in a gang?" she offered, "I mean, a-uh-a...a...vampire hunting gang," she quickly said.

"This is Angel," she said, pointing back at the looming figure, who had yet to speak, "His expertise is killing undead stuff, so we're all for it, right?" she grinned at her boss.

Angel glanced at Cordelia for a brief moment, before turning his attention back to Gunn, stepping forward and holding out his hand when Cordelia introduced him.

"Any idea why they would've taken her?" he asked. "Something specific they want from you?"

Because vampires rarely did kidnapping unless they had a really good reason to. If they snatched someone, it was to feed. Sometimes they sired. But...there was no easy way to point out to Gunn that there might be a good chance his sister was no longer alive.

Then again, vampires these days tended to be sloppy. If a body hadn't been found anywhere nearby, then maybe...

"Yeah, it's Gunn, with two n's," he said. Why did he always get kind of a funny look when he said that his name was Gunn? Did people think that it was a nickname or something? He didn't really get that, but he didn't do a lot of interacting with people outside of his crew very often.

Of course, the stuff that the girl said afterwards was strange, too. However, he did not have the ability to be picky right now about who he got to help him, even if they were acting weird as all hell. "I meant that I can't go to the police because the police usually lock you away in padded cells when you go raving about vampires," Gunn said, deadpan. Why did everyone just assume that he was in a gang? He was, but they hunted vampires, they didn't deal drugs or anything like that.

Gunn reached out and shook Angel's hand. He'd met a few guys named Angel before, but they were all Hispanic. This guy definitely didn't look Hispanic. "The vamps don't really like it when you crash their pad and shove stakes through their chests. Tends to make them pissed."

Gunn knew the odds were against Alonna, but he couldn't just abandon her to these vampires to get eaten or turned or whatever they wanted to do. "Haven't exactly gotten a ransom note or anything. Maybe they want me to stop killing them."

"Vampires are so testy," Cordelia commented as Angel and Gunn relayed information back and forth. She scribbled down some more notes.

She moved over to her computer and began typing away. After a few moments, she said, "Well, no one by the name Alonna has been brought to any hospitals in the L.A. area, so it's safe to say she's still alive." Or already dead, she thought, grimacing for a moment.

"Do you know where they took her? Or when? 'Cause the more recent it was, the more likely it will be that we can find her. Plus, if there's, like, a specific gang you've been hunting, then maybe it'll link it better" she said, suddenly eager for a new case and surprising herself with her fountain of researchy knowledge. But, this was so much more exciting than researching lawyers.

Testy. That was one way to put it.

So...self-proclaimed vampire hunter then, apparently. That was rare--enough to raise a few questions that Angel chose not to ask. And Gunn likely didn't know what Angel was. Probably better to keep it that way for now. A girl was missing and he didn't really want to risk setting Gunn off. There was no time for that.

Besides. Too hard to try and justify things when he wasn't so sure he believed they deserved justifying in the first place.

"Give me a list of the places you searched," he said. "I'll start from there."

He hadn't expected her to show up in any hospitals, but at least now he knew that someone hadn't found her broken in an alley and brought her in. He'd rather that of happened than any of the scenarios playing through his head right now. He hoped to get her back alive, but he couldn't help but not expect something so happy to happen.

"I tried looking in the usual places that we know that vampires hang out in our area." Gunn named off the random buildings that they usually were in. "They weren't in any of those. She went out yesterday to get some food and never came back. She's always good about coming back when she says that she's gonna. We searched the markets and all the places that I knew of for her, but it's like she vanished without a trace."

"There's a new vamp gang hanging around my neighborhood. We picked off a few of them, but the leader is really tough. Probably doesn't like it that my crew took out a few of his people. I didn't catch a name, but he's a tall blond haired white dude. Kind of hard to miss in my neighborhood."

"Well, what are we waiting for then?" Cordelia announced to the room enthusiastically, "Let's go find her!"

She wondered aloud, "I wonder if you have something of hers and if Angel, like, smells it, if he could find her. He has a really good sense of smell," she grinned, knowing Angel was probably giving her an evil eye at this point. "He's kind of like a bloodhound, you know, good at tracking and all that."

She moved over to her bag, pulling it over her shoulder before heading to their mini weapons chest. She wasn't going to let Angel make her stay behind. Sure, she was kind of just a secretary, but she was not going to sit around for hours and do boring research while the guys had all the fun. She started pulling out a couple stakes and shoved them in her purse. She pulled out a crossbow and held it at her side, looking expectantly at both of them, "Well?"
