white water rafting in northern california?
does anyone know a good place to go white water rafting? nothing extreme. me and my family just want to do a fun one day thing in september and i've been searching around online but i'm not familiar with rivers and what a good price is. sooo. yeah. thanks.

I had a really good time on the north fork of the American river. You should ask my friend [info]soygirl. I don't know if she does it any more but I know her parents do it on a pretty regular basis. They took me once and it was awesome.

Actually that was the South Fork. :]

It's /relatively/ easy. You can do it with a rafting guide group - don't think you can do it yourself, both my parents used to be whitewater riverboat captains which is why my family just does it on our own. There will certainly be some big scary bits but it's seriously a great deal of fun and I've been rafting it since I was 8. :D

our rec department has a couple of rafting trips (tho none in September)... the kings river trip is pretty fun

Pretty much all the forks on the American are awesome. I know one has a few class 5s, but I'm not quite sure how things will be affected later in the year (I've always gone mid-summerish).

The Russian River, you think Santa Cruz is kooky visit Guerneville, Cazadero or Forestville. Gosh my memories of growing-up on a hippy compound have all come rushing back to me. Anyways yea they have white river rafting.... good times!
