Dear
u_penn,
I hope all of you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I would like to take this opportunity to remind you about the importance of online security. Please realize that you do not know and cannot control who has access to any information you reveal on a public forum. I urge you to be certain that you trust any individual with whom you share sensitive or personally identifying information over the Internet, particularly those whom you have never met in person.
This LiveJournal community has become an active and vibrant forum for the exchange of information and the formation of friendships since I started it two years ago, and I am gratified by the way that your participation has helped it to grow. I do not want to discourage you in any way from continuing to use this forum as you have. However, I do want you to know that my fellow moderators and I take issues of safety seriously and veer on the side of caution in addressing these issues. For this reason, I have changed the security setting of our roll call entries (also linked in the user info) to friends-only. However, membership to this community is unmoderated, so I encourage you to review any information you may have shared in these entries, in this community, in your personal LiveJournals, or anywhere else online to make sure that you have not disclosed anything that you do not want to have publically known.
Additionally, please remember that any questions or concerns about this community should be addressed here. A link to this entry is in the user info of this community.
I hope that all of you enjoy the rest of your breaks and that the rest of this semester will treat you well.
Thanks,
Connie
