*blows whistle*
Okay! Time for a new prompt. Thank you so much to everyone who wrote for the last challenge. Dis be the masterlist. Read and comment!
raedbard wrote The Sun that Lights the Pages [Toby/Andrea, Huck, Molly, PG-13]
soaked_in_stars wrote A History of Lovers, Given and Taken in Ink [Toby/Andrea, Huck, Molly, R]
amy_vic wrote (no subject) [Andy, Matt Skinner, PG-13]
harlowbabe wrote Home Thoughts From Abroad [C.J., Toby, Huck, Molly, G]
* So, new challenge. Sort of a fun mix-n-match one this time. I don't how well this will work out but let's try it anyway! I want you to a) take any three TWW characters (major players to minor guests, anyone you like), b) pick one of these locations: a movie theatre, a train station, a cabin in the woods, c) one of these objects: a key, a cellphone, a pair of spectacles, and d) one these verbs: learn, indulge, mock. Then, use them however you see fit. Let us know which ones you picked at the start of the story, if you like. Have fun seeing what happens. Since this is a fairly complicated challenge (or at least a new and uncertain one!), you have the rest of the month to come up with something. As ever: 500 words minimum and everything else is fair play.

Title: Home Thoughts From Abroad Author: Donna Category: Friendship Characters: CJ, Toby, Huck, Molly Pairing: None Word Count: 794 Rating: General Summary: Letters from Paris.
Author’s Note: Not mine, do not sue. This came to me at the eleventh hour and it probably shows. The CJ/Toby S7 crap never happened and even though I’m still yet to see the conclusion, my Toby ended up in New York.

Your mod apologises for leaving you stranded with the hurt/comfort prompt for so long! A month is long enough, so we'll get on with another one, yes?
This time what I want you to do is write a story using some kind of epistolary narrative.
The great part about this challenge is how many options you could potentially play about with. Traditionally epistolary narrative involved letters and sometimes diary entries and newspaper clippings (as in Dracula, say) but now we've got email, texts, blogging, IM, Twitter, digital recordings (radio, podcasts), even something like textsfromlastnight. You could pick any of those, or mix up a selection of them, or, if you really want a challenge, try to use every single one.
So, go nuts. As ever: minimum 500 words, no upper limit on word count, no other rules. You've got til the end of the month. Probably. * Last time's masterlist: + thecolourclear wrote My Small Hand Will Be Enough [Molly, Huck, Andrea, C.J., PG-13] + thecolourclear wrote Untitled [Will, C.J., Toby, PG]

Characters: Will, CJ, Toby, a few others mentioned Word Count: 574 Summary: As for Toby, he was his own group, watching the room, scanning for something. Notes: This is a snippet of my much larger Berlin Wall AU fic, a Toby-centric fic that focusses on the staff as part of a resistance movement in East Berlin. This section fit the hurt/comfort prompt, so I thought I would post it. And posting snippets means I'm more likely to actually do the research and finish the thing. Warnings: character death

Title: My Small Hand (Will Be Enough) WC: 1519 Characters: Huck, Molly, Andrea, CJ Rating: PG-13 for thematics Summary: It is the only thing Huck knows about his sister right now; she is sad and he does not have the words to comfort her. Notes: There's some pretty obvious hints of violence

Hey guys, two things:
+ For the wonderful month of April, we have ourselves a masterlist. \o/! Read and comment, as ever, and thanks so much to everyone who wrote. :)
Masterlist for the Writing in the Second Person Challenge:
raedbard wrote Missing Me One Place Search Another [Toby/Sam, NC-17]
quirkytaverna wrote I Wish You Couldn't Figure Me Out [Sam, Toby, G]
harlowbabe wrote Laura [C.J./Abbey, R]
caitrin wrote Just Come Home [Toby/Andrea, PG]
* + It's also time for a new prompt. I thought this time we'd resurrect a fandom staple and try to write something based around the good ol' hurt/comfort theme. You know the kind of thing: X is beaten up/shot at/freezing to death in a cave somewhere and Y provides the comfort. Basically, it's all about vulnerability. Doesn't have to be physical hurt (nor physical comfort). The comfort need not necessarily be accepted, nor generously given -- a bit of theme subversion is always good. But that is your challenge, should you choose to accept it. So, as per the new rule things (such as they are), you have two weeks. (Say, May 16th?) Or thereabouts. I'm not counting too exactly. ;)

Title: Laura Author: harlowbabe Category: Angst Characters: CJ, Abbey Pairing: CJ/Abbey Word Count: c1100 Timeline: Somewhere around ‘The Wake Up Call’, S5 Rating: Mature Warning: Contains descriptions of nausea Summary: Some things can never be forgotten Author’s Note: Not mine, do not sue. I’m pretty sure I screwed this prompt up but never mind. Practice makes perfect. If the name of a character in this story has been mentioned in the series I apologise for slipping up but I couldn’t find any reference to it.
This is my first fic post here so mods please tell me if I need to change anything.
( I’m going to find a corner, and then I’m going to die in it. ) </div>

Title: I Wish You Couldn't Figure Me Out Author: quirkytaverna Fandom: The West Wing Characters/Pairing: Sam, Toby, a little Sam/Toby Disclaimer: Not mine, no gain, don’t sue please. The paper is spidered with your words, and they make more sense on the paper than they did in your mind, which is something more inexplicable than even you can grasp.

Hey guys.
Two things (well, three):
+ Firstly, my abject apologies for mod fail and not getting a new prompt up until half the month is over!
+ Secondly (and not unrelatedly) I was thinking that a whole month to ponder over these prompts is probably too long (people forget, get bound up in other commitments, etc.) so -- assuming I get over my fail -- my intention is to have a new prompt up every two weeks. As ever, play if you want to -- we'd love to see you. :)
+ Thirdly, new prompt!
A nice simple one this time (hehehe). All I want you to do is write a story in the second person. About anything you like (if you need extra inspiration there's an excellent quote list here but using second person narrative. A technique a bunch of people hate but I think is awesome. ;) So, you have until April 30th.

Hey, guys.
So, amy_vic and I were talking a little. And we thought that it was maybe time for (another!) change. Nothing too drastic, but really a change in the focus of the prompts from themes to prompts that address the process of writing a little more and occasionally impose some arbitrary limits on what you can and can't do. Because challenges are self-improving, right? ;)
For example, maybe the challenge will be to write your story in the 2nd person, or to play around with the timeline of your narrative (starting at the end, or writing to a specific timeline), or to use a few specified words in your fic, or make use of a familiar fanfic trope. You get the idea.
The way the community itself works will be very much the same: one or other of the mods will post a prompt on the first of the month (or thereabouts) and you will have the rest of that month to come up with a fic that must be at least 500 words long but may be longer by as many words as you wish. You can use any characters you like and any pairings you like etc., but you must write to that month's challenge, as before. It would also be great if people started suggesting challenges they'd like to write for future months.
So, this month's prompt (adapted from contrelamontre):
Alternate endings.
The challenge is to write a story with two endings -- think the Sliding Doors (or Run Lola Run) concept. The story begins in the same way but at some point an event happens that causes a split outcome. Maybe one ending is happy, the other tragic; maybe in the first ending your couple get together, or a story gets leaked, or someone proposes and in the second ending ... something else happens. :) You have until March 31st. Post your stories here or with a link to your own journal. I'll put up a masterlist for this month ahead of the next challenge. Thanks, guys.

Author’s Notes: So my original idea for this story got… well, it disappeared. And at the last minute, I had to redo the story. Which is okay, because I think this is a much better concept, over all. And this is the very first time I've written from Jed's POV. Very kewl.
Dedication: My muses, for always having another option…
