So, the plot bunnies have been running around my head instead of letting me finish my 20-chapter WIP, so I decided to satisfy them with this little post.

Pairing: Cedric/Harry—set during GoF between the second and third Tasks. Not that it matters. At all. Really, it doesn’t.

Summary: Been young and in love can create some confusing situations for all at hand, and he-said-she-said causes a lot...

Of course these characters are J. K. Rowling’s. I just like making them do stuff! Muhahahaha!

author’s note: This is a cute scene to tide me over while working on my much longer—I can write longer fics, I promise—and more complicated WIP, that should get posted sometime soon I hope!

As I'm sure you all know, the sixth movie is nearly upon us.  It will be filled with subtext, and sexual tension, and tons of good stuff for inspiring fic.  So why let the Harry/Draco shippers have all the fun?  That's why I'm introducing the:

Cedric Diggory and the Half Blood Prince Challenge

"But Rotary Phones," you may say, "Cedric is long dead at this point.  What does he have to do with the Half Blood Prince?"  Well, that's entirely up to you!  Your challenge is to go see the movie, then find some creative way to write Cedric into it.

- Does someone make a casual remark that immediately makes Harry think of Cedric?
- Is there a scene that would have benefited from him strolling into the room?
- With all the talk of love and romance, does Cedric ever enter into the conversation?
- How would the film have played out if he had never died?

No length requirements, no obligation, and you don't even have to see the movie - it could be about the book instead.  The idea is simply to take all that movie excitement, and put it to good use.  Cedric may be dead in canon, but he's not dead in our hearts.  (And let's face it - any movie would benefit from more Rob flirting. :) )

So this is just the very beginning... the prologue. The story turned long on me. I'm posting this now because it's short, but there are three main parts, and I'll be putting them up on Thursdays, a week apart. So the other two promised fics (the morning after fic and the space pirates fic) won't be up by the end of July, I'm sorry, but I will get them written as soon as I can.

Unbeta'd, because I've been keeping my regular betas pretty busy lately, but I'll try to be careful. 

Prompt was for a sparkly vampire fic set after the fourth book, where Cedric has the hots for Harry and Harry is a bit thrown at first, then reciprocates. And I think it was probably meant to be funny, but I just don't seem to write funny or short very well. I started thinking about how he could have turned out "sparkly vampire-ish", and then it got a bit convoluted and plotty.

Anyhow, I hope that this will be okay, mcqueens_queen, and that you'll enjoy it. (And the prologue is just a teaser, because Harry and Cedric aren't really in it, but all the other parts are from their points of view, I promise.)

Where I'm sitting, it's now July 1st - which makes it one year exactly since I first offered up my art skillz to the comm. And now I'm proud to present the eleventh and final Harry/Cedric prompt art! Whew. Thanks to everyone who's left such lovely feedback along the way!

The last request was an illustration for either Aorist Subjunctive or Lack of Color. Since I'd already done one of each, this piece has both. :)

(At first I was stressing about gifting the art to someone other than the original author; it seemed strange to do art for Lack or Aorist without Kevo or Min being able to use it. I'm about to finish up a long WIP in another fandom, having defected (largely) from that one into the Potterverse. I'm casting about for another WIP to start, and would like to use the experience I have of both fandoms to write crossover. If the crossover story does involve Hary-Cedric as pretty central charcters (and Cedric!lives of course), is it OK to post it in this comm?

I was bored on the internet and wikipediaed random stuff (you know, like you do), and found myself in 'Harry Potter fandom' (even though I started with 'rock music'...isn't life funny heh). Scanned down to the bit about fanfiction and saw this:

Potter fan fiction also has a large following in the slash fiction genre, stories which feature homosexuality that does not exist in the books.[46][47] Famous pairings include Harry with Draco Malfoy or Severus Snape or Cedric Diggory, and Remus Lupin with Sirius Black.[47][48]

Now, it may just be me, or is anyone else a little bit smug that the Harry/Cedric pairing is considered mentioning as one of the main 'Harry slashed' pairings?

Hello,

I've been hoping for some more Harry/Cedric stories to read at this lovely comm, so in an effort to stir things up, I'm offering to write three: between 2000 and 5000 words, probably done by the end of July, whatever you want (only I don't do the high rating stuff, really).

First three people to respond to this with a prompt, I'll write the story for you. Random keywords, an action you want to see, whatever. My not-so-secret hope is that more than three people will respond with their prompts/ideas, and other Harry/Cedric writers will pick up the prompts and write lots of lovely fic for us to read this summer. :) 

Or art! Just because I don't know one end of a pencil from the other doesn't mean this isn't an equal-opportunity... whatever it is.
