Twisted Shorts Bi-Weekly Challenge #001

Firsts

For the first challenge, let start with the beginning. How did Buffy and her friends first learn of the Stargate? What happened the first time Dean Winchester walked into Caritas? Did the First visit others that we don't know about? Basically, find a first and write about it...

Introducing Twisted Shorts Newest Challenge

Since the August Fic-a-Day Challenge has wrapped up, [info]azraelz_angel and I talked about a way to keep people interested and writing. So, based upon the format of several other LJ comms that do weekly challenges, we have decided to start the:

Twisted Shorts Bi-Weekly Challenge

Rules

  1. Every two weeks, a new challenge entry will be posted on [info]twistedshorts. This post will contain a count summary of who participated for the previous challenge and introduce the next challenge.

  2. The goal is to write a Buffy/Angel crossover story using the prompt provided in the challenge post as the starting point for the story.

  3. Story length should be between 300-3,000 words.

  4. All fics must be posted behind a lj-cut and have the appropriate header, subject line and tags

  5. The rules of TTH must be followed. Please read the TTH rules by clicking here

  6. While writing connecting stories is fine, please don't use the challenges to write chaptered stories. The goal is to generate single fics that can stand on their own.

  7. Please tag your fics with the appropriate fandoms, author tags and with the appropriate challenge number. If you write a fandom that doesn't have a tag or you are a new author, please use the appropriate 'tag needed' tag.

  8. You can use past challenge prompts at anytime. Please tag them appropriately.

  9. If you have a question, don't hesitate to ask one of us: [info]kaylashay81 or [info]azraelz_angel

August 31st Standings and Winners!

  • Sep. 1st, 2009 at 7:17 AM
Hi Everyone!

On to the standings as of August 31st )

We had an absolutely fantastic turn out this year. There were a ton of people writing *points to list above* Some honorable mentions for putting forth such an effort despite not coming in first: [info]burning_nova, [info]jerseyfabulous, [info]maevebran, [info]indraleigh, [info]jedibuttercup, and [info]christywild - all wrote for over twenty days of the month.

But without further ado, the winners! There was an impressive seven way tie for first. So congratulations to:

[info]koohii_cafe, [info]ramenth, [info]dennsedai, [info]nestdweller, [info]beri_fanfic, [info]silkensky, and [info]manchester_17

And for your prize, a mod will be in contact with you withing a day or so to discuss the piece of fiction that you'd like. (Please allow them a little time since some of them are on different time zones!)

Thanks again to everyone that participated, whether it was a day or 31. Writing for a whole month is challenging!

[info]kaylashay81 and I have been brainstorming on how to make this a more spirited competition next year.

Author's notes: And, here we are at the end of the story! Many thanks to those of you that gave this story a try, even though you're not familiar with Rescue Me. I wrote this because I'd kind of wanted to see a story like this for a while. Since it hadn't happened yet and the August fic-a-thon gave me an excuse, I took up the mantle my own self. I hope you folks had as much fun with this as I did writing it. And if you get the chance, find out your city's rules for taking tours of your local fire station and pay those folks a visit. Maybe spring for pizza or have a couple of party subs sent to 'em if it's permitted and your budget allows for it. We've got a firefighter or two here on TTH, and I'm sure they'd like to know that their brethren and sisteren are getting the love they deserve wherever they may be.

On with the story! And don't forget to give the review and recommendation love to the other folks that have been faithfully posting for the Fic-A-Day challenge!
