public art
what's your favorite piece of public art in the TC area... While I do heart the sculpture garden, I'm interested in checking out pieces that I may not have seen a million times before...

the big metal satanic looking goat thing at 26th inbetween Marshall NE and University NE is awesome.

so is the big metal moose in front of Mesons.

and the giant metal trout in front of Phillips Garden.

Hrm. I seem to have a big metal animal theme going.

I like the art in the sculpture park off of Marion, across from Sears, in St. Paul.

Some of us enjoy playing Dress-Up Doll with the Mary Tyler Moore sculpture in downtown Mpls. Hm, if I put on some coveralls and a giant key ring, they'd think I worked there and was supposed to do that!

when I got my drivers license in high school, when gas was 99 cents, sometimes I would drive around looking for that giant green chair. And sometimes we would even find it ;) oh to be young and wasteful without a damn thing to do...

lots of random parks have sculptures - check out the Mpls neighborhood website where they describe all their parks

There is a great mosaic on the west side of Peace House on Franklin Avenue just west of Portland. There is another mosaic covering all or part of a small smokestack on the north side of University Avenue in St. Paul somewhere east of Lexington too.

I like mosaics.

I like the piece in the Weisman where you walk through an 'apartment' and can listen in on conversations.

Many buildings throughout Downtown Minneapolis have sculptures in their lobbies- Jump in the skyway and start exploring - it's pretty much open all weekend, even though a lot of the individual shops are closed.

I personally prefer the organized graffiti on the bike paths. Cedar Lake Trail and Kenilworth Trail specifically.

Does the Grain Belt sign on the Hennepin bridge count? I heart that thing. You've probably already seen that, though. I dunno, I've never paid much attention to my surroundings - although now I'm beginning to wish I would make the effort.

Sigh.

Oh, the House of Balls, although it's tough to say whether or not that's public. Hmph.

San Dimas High School Football RULES!
