Murals
I am putting together a program for my students combining poetry and a mural. For part of the program we want to see some examples of public murals. Ours will have an urban/hip-hop feel to it so similar themes would be nice, but any good murals would be good to see. So, Where in Minneapolis and St. Paul are some good murals? As we travel by city bus, our range is somewhat limited. Our school is in the Midway area on University Avenue.

Thanks in advance.

Peace,
p2p

Intermedia Arts on Lyndale in uptown (just north of Lake St. on the west side of the street) and The side of the Dunn Bros. Coffee shop on Bryant Ave. off Lake St. in uptown as well.

I was just about to mention Intermedia Arts. Wasn't that all done by women, too? During the BGirl-Be thing this summer? That would be an interesting angle for the class as well if it was.

Above is a link to info on that!

I'm not sure if what they currently have up was done by the all female group or not. The building's art seems to change a few times a year.

There are a couple of nice ones on the Peacemaker Center (near 24th St. E. and Cedar) and on the Blue Nile Restaurant (at about 22nd Ave S. and Franklin).

I second the idea of the Blue Nile. Of course there's the mural I always notice on the police station at Dale and University, though it isn't very hip-hop-ish. Oh, and you seem pretty cool so I'm adding you to my friends list if you don't mind.

There's one on 26th and 28th street in south minneapolis... not far from intermedia arts. Just take a drive around that area, you will find plenty.

There's this little coffe shop called Java Train in St Paul, just a few blocks northeast of Como & Snelling on Pascal ave. They just finished a big urban mural on the patio side of the building a couple months ago.
