Reason for recommendation: This author stays completely in character but gives us exactly what Stephanie sometimes doesn't. It is one of the best fanfics I have read in the fandom. I don't normally pimp a story as much as I have this one. Just go read and you will know what I am talking about.

Summary: the notes all clash together and the ivory turns to red and he swears he's never heard such a beautiful sound in his life. Shows a glimpse into what could have been Edward's history with various Cullens (and a Denali), and what his future may have become.
Characters/Pairing: edward/carlisle; edward/esme; edward/rosalie; edward/tanya; edward/alice; edward/bella + a few more surprise pairings.

Reason for recommendation: Gabby is a truly talented author, but recently she's been trying out some angst. This story shows how much angst one person can put into a fic without making it explode. It also shows a totally different (yet not unbelievable) side of Edward Cullen, and his many.. well. It's truly heartbreaking, down to the last sentence. It will leave you speechless. Plus, Gabby deserves more reads on this amazing story. Don't forget to review! :) Let her know I sent you? :D

Story: Seducing Ms. Swan by diamondqull [TEEN]
Summary: Post-New Moon AU. Bella never jumped, Alice never had her vision and Edward never came back.
Six years later, Bella is a teacher in a high school in Rochester, trying to move on with her life. What happens when the one person she thought she'd never see again enrols as a student at her school? Can Bella remain professional, or will old memories get in her way? More to the point, can he?

Reason for recommendation: I've never taken to WIP fics (or multi-chapter fics) in Twilight fandom before, but I was looking for something to read and read the summary, and if that alone doesn't catch you -- I don't even know. It's completely different from anything I've ever read in this fandom. It's very creative, and the characterization is very well done. It keeps you interested, definitely, and it's written well. Plus, Edward isn't getting off so easily. Which I love. Make the man work for it, Bella.

Story: Nothing is Lost, It's Just Frozen in Frost by medoraly - PG-13
Summary: Bella writes when she is not hunting or making love, and her need for solitude worries everyone but Rosalie.

Reason for recommendation: It's beautifully written. Everyone is in character, and it gives the reader a better understanding of Rosalie.

How about some non-canon up in here? Order is irrelevant.

Story: O Loving Hate by ooh_splendlid [PG-13]
Summary: There's a fine line between love and hate, and Rosalie might have just crossed it.

Reason for recommendation: To me, this is everything there is to love about the Carlisle/Rosalie ship, especially in the beginning. Rosalie is delightfully in character, the prose is lovely without being jerky - all in all, it's an exceedingly well-rounded one-shot that leaves the reader wanting more, but doesn't leave them feeling unfulfilled.


Story: Like Footsteps (In The Snow) by towerofwisdom [PG-13]
Summary: Rosalie, still a newborn vampire safe in Alaska, is haunted by memories of her brutal end. Edward is just haunted by Rosalie.
Characters/Pairings: Edward, Rosalie ; Edward/Rosalie, mentions of Edward/Tanya

Warnings: Work in progress, allusions to rape and dubious consent. Future chapters may be NC-17.

Reason for recommendation: What can I say? I love pre-Twilight Rosalie. This portrays both characters well in a very plausible situation, and while it's about their developing relationship, it's also about their different reaction to Rosalie's addition to the family: Edward's stubbornness shines, and as does Rosalie's revulsion. It's a wonderful spectrum of emotion, and it isn't just relationship development, it's character development as well.


Story: Underwater Sunrise by Malva [PG]
Summary: Bella Swan moves to Forks and Angela Weber’s world changes. She has been happily ignoring the Cullens up until now, but suddenly her life becomes irrevocably intertwined with the strange family, especially one Jasper Hale.
Characters/Pairings: Angela, Jasper ; Jasper/Angela, mentions of Edward/Alice and future Jacob/Bella
Categories: romance, twilight au, work in progress
Warnings: Work in progress and on hiatus.

Reason for recommendation: It's difficult to find well-written Twilight AU's, especially those that entirely replace canon pairings with non-canon pairings while keeping everyone in character - especially over the course of multiple chapters. Malva pulls this off quite well, with enough introspection and exposition to make everything seem feasible. Many key events remain the same at their core, but are instead viewed through the eyes of Jasper or Angela, both of whom participate to varying extents. It's a very interesting look at what could have been, and there's certainly no lack of chemistry between the main characters.

Summary: Being warm has many definitions and Jasper knows all of them.

Warnings: None really.  Spoilers for Eclipse -- Jasper's background.
Reason for recommendation:  As much as I love a good, long multi-chaptered fic, I also *heart* well-written one shots that I can read quickly, but that are interesting enough that I can read them over and over again.  This isn't from Jasper's POV, but it's a very good look into the way he sees things and how his life might have been.

Summary:  Snippets of Alice and Jasper's relationship past - they meet, they love, they struggle with what is.

Categories: One-Shot, Angst, Love, Humor, Sexy!time (but not smut!)
Warnings:  References to sex, but not graphic.
Reason for recommendation:  Another one-shot that I've read several times.  I particularly like the middle snippet (1930's), where you see some of Jasper's struggles and how Alice reacts to them.  I picture something similar to this situation to have occurred when Jasper ran away after attacking Bella in New Moon. 

NOTE: The author has some of the canon timeline messed up because they imply that J/A were with the Cullens in the '30s, which we now know was not the case -- they didn't even meet until 1948.  But, it's still awesome -- just a little confusing when you first read it.

Story: The Thunder Rolls by Hollywood-Violet  [T]
Summary: Thunder, lighting, rain. A storm brings Alice's biggest fears of Jasper losing control as she waits impatiently in the early morning hours for him to come home.

Warnings: A little disturbing, but nothing too bad.
Reason for recommendation:  I looooove Jasper angst, and this fic shows the impact that Jasper's struggles and decisions have on Alice.  We all know that something like this has probably happened before (maybe several times), so it's very believable and fits nicely into canon.

Summary: Alice must fight to finally defeat the demons that Jasper harbors in his soul before they meet the Cullen coven for the first time.

Warnings: Brief, vague reference to sex.
Reason for recommendation:  More angst!  I like a vulnerable and insecure Jasper, just because it's so believable for his character, particularly in his dealings with Alice.  He's so afraid of disappointing her and, by extension, losing her -- it's heartbreaking and wonderful at the same time.

Summary: This is what it's like for her, in the black, black room.  Alice and the asylum.

Reason for recommendation:  This is from Alice's POV, while she is in the asylum.  So, there's lots of random thoughts and somewhat stream of consciousness, which was risky of the author, but for me, it works.  While I don't like reading very experimental fic on a regular basis, I do like to read different styles and this is very well-written -- this is how I think Alice would have been, before the venom healed her damaged mind.

Summary: The first drop of blood is always the sweetest, it quells the burning ache that twists and writhes like a serpent inside of his soul...

Reason for recommendation: Another Jasper angsting fic -- this one looks at his life post-Maria, but pre-Alice, and follows up to the attack on Bella.  I like this because it shows a somewhat bitter side of Jasper that you don't see often, at least once he finds Alice.

Reason for recommendation: This story is very beautiful. It depicts wonderfully the dynamic between Jasper and Alice as they begin their relationship, and the hesitancy, love, and excitement that they feel for each other.

Story: You've Kept Me Waiting by Mandi1 [NC-17]
Summary: She knew from the moment she first saw him that he would change her life. Now that they've joined together, Alice and Jasper begin the journey that will take them to the end of eternity.  (Complete, with 43 Chapters.)
Characters/Pairings: Alice POV; Jasper/Alice; Cullen Clan and canon pairings in later chapters.

Reason for recommendation: I always seem to find one multi-chapter epic in a fandom that I absolutely adore and read over and over again.  For Twilight, this is that story for me.  It starts in the diner and follows through their journey to find the Cullens and their eventual marriage.  It has everything -- excellent characterization of Alice and Jasper, believable story that fits with canon, romance and humor, and lots of angst, which I love.  This story makes me love the Jasper/Alice ship more than I already do, which is saying a lot.  Also, one J/A rec is absurd and I plan on remedying that!  Enjoy!

Story: The Long Awaited Inevitable by Fantasium [PG]
Summary: Elaboration upon the moment that Jasper and Alice met.
Characters/Pairing: Jasper/Alice
Category: general, romance, pre-Twilight

Reason for recommendation: At a little over six hundred words, the author puts together an engaging, enchanting, and believable scene to show us just how things went down when Jasper walked in and met the waiting Alice. It doesn't go beyond what happened in canon, and it certainly doesn't skimp, either. The writing is very well done, and the characters are presented so very well.

 Story: The Still Hour by ophelietta
Rating: PG (that's just my assessment, the author hasn't listed one)
Summary: Their love is so dystopian.

Reason for recommendation: Read it. It will steal your soul. I don't care if you don't ship J/B, it's hardly even J/B anyway but it IS 100% made of win. I've never quite read anything like it, and I've been intensively reading fanfic for over three years. I don't recommend much fanfiction, even though I read a lot, but this one was just so incredible that I had to pass it on. 

Story: The Golden Mean by ophelietta (I'll say PG for cursing)
Summary: Bella walks down yet another road not taken.

Reason for recommendation: Hey! I'm so glad I found this community (especially when I should be in bed for my dentist appointment, but whatever). There's a huge lack of gen fic in the Twilight fandom, which is sad because that's my favorite kind. But the ones I have encountered are amazing. This one, for instance, answers the question: Edward or Jacob? Actually, it doesn't answer it at all. The answer is no one. And I love that. Above all, the prose is amazing.

So give the fic a try. Whether you're an Edward/Bella or a Jacob/Bella shipper (or neither), you'll like it.

Reason for recommendation: karnythia is a gifted wordsmith who finally brings her voracious talent to the Twilight fandom. She has a knack for Cullen sibling interaction and interspersing humor into ominous situations without mocking the serious. Plus, she has POV down and it makes for a well-rounded story.

Story: Perhaps by roannaweenie [PG]
Summary: Now a newborn vampire, Bella is kept under constant watch in the Cullen house to ensure her safety. When Edward leaves for a week to inform the Volturi about her transformation and she finds herself lonesome, Jasper decides to keep her company. But when a human enters Bella's reach, she feels the uncontrollable thirst for the first time. Jasper is obliged to watch over and guide her, not wanting Bella to experience the same fate he did as a newborn. You never know how much could happen in seven days.

Reason for recommendation: The author, Roanne, is one of the best Jasper/Bella authors in the Twilight fandom. I've always found this couple extremely hard to write, but she does it really, really well! I really think that this is a must read for every Jaspella fan out there!

Story: The Twilight Chronicles by ruby_fireflies [PG]
Summary: "He was the guardian of the key to her heart. Since the moment that they met, he knew that their destinies were intertwined; vines intermingling, aware that the world was saying no, while they were saying yes. Knowing what he was about to commit, all that mattered to him was her." Three major events of Edward and Bella's lives through their eyes.

Reasons for Recommendation: This is actually ruby_fireflies' first fanfic and it's amazing. It's very poetic and beautifully written. She actually switches back and forth between Bella and Edward's point of views, with each being intricately woven into the other. The characters are dead- on and it's very interesting to read each story from both Edward and Bella. She uses amazing imagery and phrases to get her pictures across to the reader. It's freaking awesome, so I promise you'll love it.

Story: that which you'll never comprehend by taylor/yoursolace. [pg-13 - r (darker themes)]
Summary: It's a Masquerade Ball, masks always worn. They hope for a countdown, minute hand ticking faster until midnight strikes and masks are off.
Characters/Pairings: mike, lauren, jessica, angela, tyler; implications of one-sided relationships.
Categories: drama, one-shot, angst, team human.
Warnings: Strong dark themes revolving around teenage life. If that's sensitive to you in any way, please do not read.
Reason for recommendation: Taylor is an amazing writer, by far one of my recent favorites, but this fic is far from the usual story and it shows a darker side to what the forks humans could possibly be going through. This story shows five different situations, and many teenagers go through at least one of them. This fic is completely and utterly honest and true to how life really is for many people. Definitely a tear-jerker. Plus, it involves the humans, who are severely under appreciated.

Story: Four times Edward and Bella Cullen didn't make love (And one time they did) by peki [R]
Summary: ”How are you going to do this right?” - “Responsibly. Everything in the right order.” The first weeks of their marriage, the last weeks of her human life. Bella learns patience. Edward learns spontaneity.

Reason for recommendation: I always find this hard to explain but this story is not your average 'first time' story. It's very interesting to see how concept have been dealt with and how the characters have been portrayed as several aspects of their relationship and characterisation has been captured and Peki has written it so well that I am just utterly breathless. There is a great detail on thoughts and emotions instead of descriptions and this is what makes this fic rather unique and so well written.

Reason for recommendation: One thing that I really loved about this story is that it is so realistic that it feels almost as if it is...real. I love the well-thought out details, ideas and theories of how things might occur and the characterisation, particularly of Bella, is just flawless. It also mixes the seriousness of this scenario with a hint of humour and it does so very well. I don't think I can say more because well, you have to read it for yourself to understand! It was such an interesting read and I really highly recommend it.

Story:  Be Still My Heart by  Circa1918 [PG13]
Summary: Edward is exceptionally happy to be engaged, and yet he remains conflicted about his feelings, his nature, and the future. Missing moment, one-shot.

Warnings: Mentions of sex

Reason for recommendation: Circa1918 has gone above and beyond with this piece. It's beautifully written and perfectly paced. The characters are spot on; Edward is so brilliantly portrayed as conflicted and uncertain, but his love for both Bella and his family is nearly palpable. Carlisle makes a sizable appearance and the dynamic between he and Edward is exceptional. The author has woven in a thought provoking and smart theme that I think could fit perfectly into canon. Basically, it rocks.

Story: In Those Days, Blood Was Still Warm by calikalie [G]
Summary: No one could touch them here, they were impenetrable.

Reason for recommendation: This fic has one of my bulletproof kinks (for Twilight fandom at least) - quiet moments between Bella & Edward. It's just them in their meadow and nothing else, no outside influences. calikalie has done a fantastic job with the characterisation - this is easy enough to imagine being taken straight out of any of the books. It's beautiful, quiet and a feeling of contentment just flows through the whole thing. It may be short, but it's absolutely gorgeous.
