The rules are sparse. I simply wanted a place where I could easily refer friends to some of my favourite Twilight fanfictions and where they could easily notify others of stories that they think that they enjoy. (Because, let's face it, trolling The Pit of Voles can lead to a variety of unsavory things, including the need to douse your brain with bleach.) A recommended story should be well-written (this is subjective!), and should not be a self-promoted story or an RPF. Read through our FAQ to get a clearer picture of our guidelines.
Please, please, please, don't be embarrassed to post a recommendation. We all have our individual tastes and not everyone will like everything that you do and vice-versa. This is not a place for Shug & I to simply tell you what we like to read. We would love to hear what you like as well! That is the key factor that sets us apart from so many other blogs.

At fanfiction.net, the account is not a c2 because c2's default to exclude the 'M' rated stories and they are easily missed. We simply favourite all stories that have been recommended. As well, we will favourite all authors who have had three or more stories recommended here at The Twilight Enablers. Look for authors to be added to our favourites list and for Author Spotlights to begin posting here sometime in October.

How do you select stories to highlight?
-This is an open community and all members are allowed to post recommendations. However, if people aren't posting recommendations, Shug & I have a list of stories that we enjoy and we're following to pull from.
How many stories can I recommend at once?
-You may post as many recommendations as you want, but please put them in separate posts. It makes them easier to tag and find.
What are the criteria for a suitable story?
-Really, this is at your discretion. A good story has well-developed characters, a plot (preferably with a clear story arc), and does not contain gratuitous grammatical errors. Some errors are fine, but so many that it makes it distracting to read is not.
Can I post a recommendation for my own story?
-You may NOT self-promote your story. This is not a pimpage community, it is a recommendation community... there IS a difference. I would suggest a community like
What kind of stories can I recommend?
-We accept all types of Twilight fanfiction from slash to het to canon to AU to All Human. The only except is RPFs (aka Real Person Fics). RPFs are not Twilight fanfiction. They are stories that center around (meaning the main character) people like Stephenie Meyer, Robert Pattinson, or Kristen Stewart.
What are "Super Enablers"?
-Super Enablers is a way that Shug & I have decided to recognise those people who consistently recommend good-quality fanfiction on this site. They each have made a minimum of TEN recommendations that consist of more than just "It's good. Go read". When you see the 'Super Enabler' icon, you know that the story was recommended by someone who is an active member of this community and that their recommendation is for a story that is worth at least considering taking the time to read.
How do I find stories at The Twilight Enabler?
-Use the tags to find the stories that you're interested in. The tag list is located in the right sidebar. There are tags for pairings or main character, author, WIP or complete, and story type (ie AU, all human, crossover, twilight, new moon, eclipse, or breaking dawn). Simply click on the type of story you're looking for (ie complete) and you will be taken to a page of only completed fanfictions. Don't forget to look at the bottom of the page for the link to take you to see more than just the last 20 entries.
Another option is to go to our account on Fanfiction.net and look at our favourites list. Every story that has been recommended here and is available on Fanfiction.net is on that list.
What else do I need to know before I post a recommendation?
-Please double-check to ensure that a story has not already been recommended before you post. The easiest way to do this is by looking at the tag list in the right-hand column for the author. If you see the author, click on the link and it will show you all stories that have been recommended that that particular author has written.
When posting, use the following template or something similar--just delete everything in parentheses:
The story I recommended isn't there anymore. Where is it?
-We reserve the right to remove any story recommendation. Though, really, this would likely only be because it breaks one of the core rules of quality, is an RPF, or is self-promotion. A story will not be removed simply because Shug or I don't like it.
*Also, if a story has been deleted from the archives by the author and is no longer available online, then it will be deleted from our rec list. This includes stories that have been deleted for violating the TOS by the admins at fanfiction.net and are no longer available elsewhere online, as well as stories that the author has chosen to pull because they want to publish or will not finish the story. We will not link to stories that are only available on LOCKED LiveJournals.
One of the stories is tagged as a WIP, but I know it's complete. What do I do?
-Shug or I go through the entries about every 1-2 months. At that time, one of us will change the tag.
My story was recommended here. Do you have a way I can let people know?
-We are currently working on icons and banners that you can display.
The story I like is already recommended, but the author still isn't getting any reviews. What can I do?
-I believe that sometimes a story is rec'd too soon, before the hook is truly there. When that happens, people read, but aren't quite engaged and they don't always go back. So, try to make sure a story has it's hook (that compelling piece that makes you eager for the next chapter) before posting the recommendation here. Outside of that REVIEW!!! We encourage all readers to leave reviews for the stories they enjoy!

I heard that you guys wrote up an article about stories being pulled from Fanfiction.net. Where can I find that?
-Earlier this year a popular story had a chapter pulled from Fanfiction.net. Within a few hours, the entire site went down and people were in a panic, coming up with a variety of reasons for the outage. Shug & I wrote an article about some of the core rules at the archive and why stories were pulled. The article, Don't Panic, can be found here.
