Challenge 2--Round 6--Midweek Reminder

Challenge 1--Round 6--Clans, Covens, & Packs...Oh, my!  
We're halfway through the challenge, so it's time to up the stakes and get down to business. This is the last week for multiple entries, and then it will go to down one icon per round.  So, get all the points you can!

This week's rounds are dedicated to "power in numbers"--the importance of friendship, love, and having a safety partner.  With BD spoilers now being allowed, this is the perfect opportunity to introduce this week's theme--The Vampire Covens/Clans and the Wolf Packs! Some of these faces are familiar, others brand new, so I think it'll be a lot of fun an exciting to see new Twilight icons pop up.  For those who haven't read BD yet, never fear, you can still readily participate--The Denali Clan, the Volturi Coven, the Volturi guards, and half the American Nomads first appeared in the three books.

Please the round rules because there are some restrictions.  The Olympic Coven (aka the Hales/Cullens) are excluded from this challenge--I think we can all agree there are lot of icons featuring these folks out there, lol.  The point of this round is to create icons featuring characters not often used.  And there are some rules pertaining to Jacob, and some resources listed.

Challenge 2--Bonus 2--Two Heads are Better than One  
We're halfway through the challenge, so it's time to get serious and really up the game. This week's rounds are dedicated to "power in numbers"--the importance of friendship, love, and having a safety partner (Don't laugh at that. My "first kiss" was from my kindergarten safety buddy. Having to hold hands while you walk down the treacherous school hallways really brings two people together).

As suggested by our friend [info]thracie, Bonus 2 is dedicated to our favorite Twilight Saga pairings.  Notice I said pairings, not couples.  You may icon any duo, whether it be based on love (Alice/Jasper), friendship (Jacob/Bella), or family (Bella/Charlie).  You'll also have the opportunity to celebrate both canon or non canon couples (I know there are a lot of Edward/Tanya fans out there). Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun spoilers are also now allowed. This should open up even more possibilities for you all. 

So I hope you have a lot of fun with this round.  And remember--NO REMINDERS ARE GIVEN FOR BONUS ROUNDS. Good Luck!

RE: Breaking Dawn and Midnight Sun Spoilers  
 I should never go on vacation, apparently.  Whenever I do I come home  to Twilight fans running around like chickens with their heads caught off.  Usually, it's because something amazing and exciting has happened.  Unfortunately, these past couple times have not been the case.

So, I'm here to remind you how to handle Breaking Dawn and Midight Sun in relation to [info]twiconathon</lj> .  Starting ths week, spoilers from both resources will be allowed.  BD has been out for a month most places, and luckily most of the fury/hype around it has died down and feelings have simmered a bit.  And since Stephenie Meyer has made the decision to release the first 12 chapters of MS because she may now never publish it, I say fair game--no illegal activity is going on and MS is not really spoiling too much since it's just Twilight from Edward's POV.

In the hopes of maintaining community peace, I know you will all be resepectful in your spoilers.  Please keep them content-based and do not stray from the source material to comment on Stephenie Meyer or the fans.  I realize both MS and, in particular BD, are controversial and it has many fans divided.  I'm one of those fans who are not entirely please by the way things have unfolded, so I empathize.  And I respect everyone's opinions. 

But unless these opinions are based on the source material, this is not the place to voice them.  If you offer praise/criticism be specific not general.  And keep it as impersonal as one can.

Challenge 2--Banner Requested Deadline  
Hi everyone.  We're almost through the first half of our challenge, and we've got no banners to show for it!  I've received only half a challenge's worth of banners.  I know our winners are looking forward to receiving their prize for  job well done, so it'd be great if I could all the banners in.

Because we're so behind, I'm going to ask all our banner makers to send me their submissions in a PM to me.  Normally I'd jut have you post them yourselves, but I'd like to keep it all organized and in order.  If you've forgotten what week you are signed up for and who the winner were that round, please look at the community profile--the bottom has quick links to the results and the banner maker assignments.

Lastly, if I could get all banners for Round 1-5 and BR 1 by Monday, September 15 I'd really appreciate it (with the exception of Round 5's maker--if you need two weeks total to make them, no sweat).  If I don't, I'll have to deduct the three points I awarded you and make themselves or open to someone who wants to make some quick points.

Challenge 2--Round 4--Results  
Another yo-yo week, which fo means just means that the talent is pretty evenly spread (and awesoely impressive).  We're almost half way through the challenge and everything is still a mystery.  So don't give discouraged, don't give up yet--we've only just begun!

Challenge 2--Round 5--Extension  
Hey all,

Jut a quick note that I'm extending Round 5 by a day, until the end of Monday.  My husband just announced we're going out of town for the Labor Day  weekend because he is a typical man who plans things way too late and then never tells his wife, :P.  So, I won't able to post votes until Tuesday morning, so I might as well give you that extra time.

I should be able to post week 6's challenge up in time or by mid Monday.  So everything will mostly stay on schedule.  :)

Challenge 2--Round 5--Funny Icons  
Okay, so I have a plethora of round ideas, but I'm waiting one more week to unleash them all so you can use BD spoilers.  And since last week's round was tough on you guys, I'm going to give you a more straight forward round this time.

This week's quest is to make funny icons.  I hate how it sounds--"Be funny.  NOW."  But, funny icons seem to be a fave when you guys vote, and just in general, because we all like to have the giggles once in a while.  So, why not at Twilight's expense.  How you translate "funny" is completely up to you, but please read the rules this round because there are only a couple of limitations of what I don't think is appropriate.

Now, I'm off to go get approvals for our (hopefully) traditional fanart round next week.

Challenge 2--Round 3--Results  

Well, this round really made things interesting.  We had our first Twiconathoner break the 100-point mark,  nearly everyone changed ranks, and some serious gaps were made as a few made it known to all that they want to be the overall winner.

Also, there was a record voting turnout again.  I'm so impressed with everyone's level of work this challenge, and it seems everyone else is, too!  Keep up the good work and make sure to not let the current top 5 get too comfortable!

Challenge 2--Bonus 1--Results  

*Note to self*: Save now does not equal send now.  D'oh!

Anyhow, great first bonus round everyone!  There were lots of favorites a the voting was generously shared, which helped a lot of you since there were clear winners for Round 3.  And we had our first person break the 100 points barrier--a new Twiconathon record, I do believe.

So congrats to all our winners an thanks to everyone participating this round!

Challenge 2--Round 4--Clarification  
Hi, ya'll.  It seems that many of you are confused about this week's assignment.  I'm sorry for that, and I'm here to try to clarify what I'm asking you to do.  Please don't take the following icons too seriously--I literally just found a pic or used an old icon of mine and slapped on some text with no thought of textures, placement, etc. 

Anyhow, this week's icon challenge should be thought of as a type of pun challenge--a play on words.  You are to take the title of a television show and depict it in the world of Twilight.  One way to think of it is to portray your chosen television title as literal as you can, so the pun (the play on words) is the actual image.  The title of the show (which must be on your icon) is the set up, while the picture is the sight gag/punchline. 

This still probably makes no sense, huh?  All right, let's try some visual explanations.

Challenge 2--Round 4--Twilight...the TV show?  
All right, round four--here we go.  Things can start getting a bit more difficult, if only slight--you'll only be able to enter 2 icons per round.  But let's try in exchange to introduce some participants' favorite and  new creative rounds. 

I was going to dedicate a round to each othe books and culminate in an all Breaking Dawn round, but after feedback and looking at participation, I think we're going to nix that.  We have a lot of generous peope who lend out their books, and a lot of international fans this time who have yet to finish BD (or even attain it).  So the BD NO SPOILER rule is still in effect through the rest of the first half of this challenge--once we get to Round 6 then you can all go crazy.  But let's be extra sweet to our international friends, yes?

This week's round was suggested by [info]vaguelyclear, and I'm really excited about it because it sounds like it has the potential to spur great creativity and be lots of fun.  We all fell in love with the Twilight books, we are all looking forward to the movie, but what if Twilight was a TV show?  That's up for you to decide.  This week, you must take a name of a previously aired (or currently airing) television show and have it inspire you to make a Twlight icon.  For example, you'd take the show Heroes, and do an icon of Edward saving Bella.  Or an icon of Bella and Jacob, inspired by the show Friends.  Get it?  :)

Challenge 2--Bonus 1--Voting  
Wow.  Who knew that moons could make icons so pretty? Or maybe it's just all of your guys' talent.  Really pretty icons everyone, and good new for all you Jacob fans--there seems to be a bundle!

Voting for Bonus Rounds are easy as pie. There are no extra awards and comments are optional.  So hopefully, you all enjoyed this Round and your extra work will pay off and help you.

Challenge 2--Round 3--Voting  
A great turnout everyone--thanks for everyone entering even though I know it was a lackluster of an idea for a round.  Luckily, I think these are some of our best icons yet--some really funny, vibrant, and hhaunting ones to choose from. And we've got some great suggestions this week, so I think we'll have some great weeks ahead of us.
