Just to let you know...

  • Oct. 1st, 2008 at 7:58 PM
I won't be online very much for the next week as I have several coursework deadlines to meet. I was thinking of putting the comm on hiatus, but actually I'm sure you'll be able to cope without me... I haven't exactly been the most active of GMs lately, which I apologise for!

Feel free to start a side RP/random chat thread in this post, whatever you think would be entertaining. Have them try to escape from caves full of bears or something, that's always fun ^^

Segment Two : Part Two

  • Sep. 14th, 2008 at 9:57 PM
Playing in this segment: Ellie, Francis, Kraven, Laurea, Lucien, Nikolai, Sy, and Treacle.

* * *

There is a quiet crunching of gravel outside and the doors to the warehouse swing open. A fragile-looking figure in a black enters, flanked discreetly by two men in suits and shades. The figure is, you now see, wearing an elaborate frilled dress, though you had heard that Delaney was a man. Before you have the chance to remark upon any of this, however, the stranger in the dress begins to speak.

"One would be willing to bet that these large men were called Kurt and Burt and liked to kill things, and one would be correct. Just letting you know." He smiles. "I'm Lucien Delaney, but you probably know that by now. Thanks for coming."

Segment Two : Part One

Well, since we seem to have everyone now! Playing in this segment: Ellie, Francis, Kraven, Laurea, Lucien, Nikolai, Sy, and Treacle. The intro to this section is a little shorter than the Segment One intro because the setting isn't so important. If you lot want to introduce yourself in this thread, I shall start up a new one when it is time for things to happen.

* * *

You find yourself, this September evening, in a disused warehouse in the South Cutting, the most remote part of Leng Cutting and the rotten remnant of the Trenham's industrial age, home to the city's 24-hour rave subculture as well as most of its less organised crime.

The warehouse itself once housed a printing press, but was partly burnt down in the Dragonfly riots ten years ago and never properly rebuilt. It still smells slightly of printers' ink and rotten paper, as well as the faint odour of cigarette smoke and tinned beans left by the squatters who have left only recently. You are here because you have heard word that some small-time crook called Lucien Delaney is looking for you, and whether out of fear or ambition or curiosity, you decided to look for him back.

Segment One : Part One

  • Sep. 12th, 2008 at 11:10 PM
Well, I think we've got everyone now! Playing in this segment are: Juno, Panya, Rhydd, Robyn, Sev, Theo, Trixie, Vasirij and Isaac, as well as Aesweth, Amity, Begina and Izumi if their players decide to join in.

* * *

It is late afternoon on a warm day in September, and you find yourselves, for whatever reason, in a small bakery on Walton Street, in the middle of Jericho. To either side are perfectly ordinary shops - a launderette, a pie shop, a burger bar, an estate agent - while the cafe itself is really surprisingly normal for a bohemian suburb in a city like Trenham.

Outside are a few chairs and tables, shaded by an awning striped in pink and buttercup yellow, while an art-deco sign in similar colours reads: The Pan-Cake Shop.

Inside the pink and yellow colour scheme prevails as well, with tablecloths and wallpaper all checked or striped in flowery shades, and a pleasant smell of baking lingers in the air. An array of glass-topped counters spans the whole back wall, filled with cakes ranging from plain Victoria sponges to Sacher-torte, from macaroons to unbelievable meringue concoctions in the shapes of seahorses, entire tribes of gingerbread people, peculiar dome-shaped cakes iced fluorescent green, elaborate wedding cakes studded with what appear to be genuine pickled pearls, every possible variety of cream-cake, and a few token loaves of bread, croissants and baguettes.

Three or four small wicker baskets on the counter are brimming over with sugar mice, chocolate eggs, and tiny almond biscuits, while freezer cabinets to the left and right hold ice-cream-cakes (some dyed bright blue, others home to small pink marzipan polar bears, one sorry specimen labelled "experimental: parsnip flavour").

Trixie is standing behind the counter affixing ears to sugar mice and attempting to serve customers. As usual, she looks... somewhat harrassed.
"Next, please!"

Player list for Segment One and Two

  • Sep. 9th, 2008 at 11:40 PM
Please comment if I've got anything wrong and I'll edit the post. To clarify, both of these scenarios will be running at the same time, with Segment One featuring the "good guys", and Team Evil featuring in Segment Two.

NB. (?)= undecided, (??) = I haven't heard from them in a while, (???) = I'm not sure they're around on LJ any more.

Segment One - The Bakery
Isaac ([info]throwthebones)
Juno ([info]nonsensicalmess)
Panya ([info]m_mas)
Rhydd ([info]kadharonon)
Robyn ([info]hippyjolteon)
Severine ([info]vorindi)
Theo ([info]flane_kanja)
Trixie ([info]kassie_opia)
Vasirij ([info]morgonw)
Aesweth ([info]cartoir) (???)
Amity ([info]3rdragon) (?)
Begina ([info]autriemeil) (???)

And I think [info]m_mas and I will be introducing Cyrus and Saccharine in a later segment.

Segment Two - Recruitment
Ellie ([info]falconwhitaker)
Francis ([info]tianchiru)
Kraven ([info]flane_kanja)
Laurea ([info]vorindi)
Lucien ([info]kassie_opia)
Nikolai ([info]kadharonon)
Sy ([info]hippyjolteon)
Web ([info]m_mas)

And I know a couple of people may be working on new characters. If you wouldn't mind submitting character sheets in the next couple of days, that would be good. Since you've got characters already, don't bother about applying in comments, just post it straight to the comm and I can check it over then, or MSN me (badly_dubbed@hotmail.com) if you want to ask anything.

At last!

So, after more-or-less rewriting the story, it looks like I will finally have time to start the RP. If any of you are still interested in playing, that is... The game will be starting in a day or two with any luck and [info]m_mas will also be GMing (this is all entirely her fault, I might add).

As a result of somewhat rewriting Trenham's history as part of my webcomic, I'm going to have to swap one of my characters, if anyone else wants to make any changes to their character lineup please comment here soonish. We'll also be posting character sheets for some auxiliary characters who will be cameo-ing briefly.

The first two "segments" of the game will begin at the same time. The first segment will involve Cyrus's team meeting for the first time in a bakery in Jericho, while in the second segment Lulu's team (formerly Ruby's team) will meet in a bar in downtown Leng Cutting. It might be a good idea to think of a reason why your character would be there in advance...

Please comment here if you're still interested in playing, as a roll-call of sorts.

Game Start Date

  • Jun. 22nd, 2008 at 12:01 AM
Hi everyone,
Sorry about the delay in starting the game - it's been pointed out that it's now a week after I said we'd begin. I've been ill recently and am still waiting for some character sheets, but hopefully we should begin sometime in the next week.
Thanks,
