THE CLOSEST THING TO A FRIEND

A PADD was handed to him, its contents a mystery. How the mighty had fallen. He responded with bitterness, "What makes you think I'll follow them?" Like I have any choice.
"It's in your best interests. You cannot stay. It isn't healthy. And you're a distraction. There are people who can help there; give you what you need."
Can they make me Q again? Make you care and let me stay?

On the shuttlecraft ride over, the PADD lay at his feet, discarded. But the handwritten note from his Capitaine remained clutched in his fist, unread.
