Does anyone here know anything about court fee waivers and how to show that you have little to no income?

| $25 Free for opening an account |
[01 May 2008|02:34pm] |
Mods, please advise if this isn't allowed. I admit that I am posting this here because I will receive a benefit if people participate in the offer, but it isn't just spam. This worked for me.
This company wants to be the next Paypal, and they have a lot of start-up cash which they are spending on giving people bonuses for signing up. They offer $25 free for signing up with them, and then pay you $10 per person that you refer to them, up to $500. If you click the link below to get your account, they will pay me a $10 referral. Then if you share this offer with others before May 15, you can earn referral money. If you know a lot of people, it could be a good way to get some money to use toward transition expenses.
They do seem legit. They have already paid me my $25. Just be careful to read the the terms and conditions and other things that most people usually don't read. If you click the wrong button and ask for more than $25, it will make the offer null and void.

| Petition the British Government to recognise *all* gender identities. |
[31 Jan 2008|10:49am] |
On January 15th I did a post on Genderqueer mentioning how I'd created a petition on the No.10 website, -So that all the British genderqueers and their allies can lobby their government to legally recognise the fact that *not everybody* fits perfectly into the currently available gender categories of male and female.
I've just recieved an e-mail from the number 10 petition team It said that my petition has been approved by the Number 10 web team, and is now available on the Number 10 website at the following address:

| A transgendered national healthcare system???? |
[17 Apr 2007|04:04pm] |
Hillary is the democrat frontrunner for president in '08. And she says that national healthcare for all in the US is one of her priorities.
I wonder, will it apply to transgender counseling, hormone therapy, ftm and mtf surgery?
Most polls show that a majority of US citizens want to see a universal healthcare system in the US now. But will the trans community be used as a "wedge issue" in Washington when legislation is passed?
Will we be covered by the new system? Or left on the outside looking in, just like we are today with private healthcare insurance policies?

| 23-7 |
[15 Apr 2007|07:31pm] |
I read a post recently where someone said they were going to stop being trans 24-7 because it was just too damn hard.
And I completely understand.
24-7 just sets people up for failure. End of story.
I have been following a 23-7 philosophy, and it seems to work.
If you have to dress up as your biological gender every once and while to TCB (take care of business) wtf?
No big deal.
This black and white stuff of being a boy or girl 24-7 is insane.
Make the system work synergistically for yourself.
And if that means I have to occasional revert back to my male gender role to deal with the government, or whatever, so be it.
And for t people on a budget, this is the only way you are going to get things done.

| House asking for input on HEA (Student Loan debacle) |
[16 Mar 2007|07:52am] |
Reposted for Alan at studentloanjustice.org
Hey Everyone, The House is soliciting input for the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act from stakeholders. This is the best vehicle for us. I guarantee that they will read this. We are the most critically affected stakeholders.
My guess is that they won't get more than a couple of thousand responses. We can double that. Obviously, say whatever you want, but don't forget to put our agenda in the text somewhere:
1. Pass legislation which allows borrowers who have been in default for 5 years or more to repay only what they originally borrowed, plus a reasonable amount of interest OR repay the amount that the federal government paid for the guarantee on the loan(s).
2. Pass legislation that gives borrowers the right to refinance their debt after consolidation.
3. Suspension of disability of Social Security and Disability garnishment activities.
4. Pass legislation that bans "school as lender" programs, or other programs where the universities steer students to certain lenders due to financial incentives.
5. Support other legislation that returns standard consumer protections to student loans.
6. Increase federal grants for education, and expand tax benefits for repayment. IF YOU DO NOTHING THIS WEEK TO FURTHER THE CAUSE FOR STUDENT LOAN JUSTICE, AT LEAST DO THIS!! Send your email to HigherEdRecs@mail.house.gov.
You can see the letter they sent out at the link below. http://www.aacrao.org/reporting/HEAStakeholderLetter3-8-07_HOUSE.pdf More soon, Alan Alan M. Collinge StudentLoanJustice.Org

COMMUNITY ALERT ABOUT A RECENT HATE CRIME
PLEASE POST WIDELY
An open letter to our communities from “Elliott” (a pseudonym), Kate Loewe stopsexualviolence@riseup.net), Kathy Ni Keefe (nikeefe@riseup.net), Samuel Lurie (slurie@gmavt.net), and Eli Clare (eclare@gmavt.net):
We are writing to let our communities know about a recent hate crime that occurred in New Mexico. We are writing to break silence, to create resistance to violence and space for healing, and to build support for the survivor. We are writing in hopes that we can take care of each other, undercut the community-wide fear that comes with hate violence, and work toward justice.
Please note that what follows contains some graphic details, which could be triggering. Also, the survivor is a parent of two children, and this information MUST NOT reach them.

(Please let me know if this post is offensive or not allowed and I’ll delete it promptly.)
Hi everyone,
(For anyone who doesn’t know me, I’m an almost 17 year old out lesbian high school student from Sydney, Australia.)Well, this year I’m in my final year of school in Australia and I’m doing my Higher School Certificate (that’s, um, like the equivalent of the final college exams for you Americans and Brits) and one of my courses is 2 Unit Drama. For this I have to present a 6 – 8 minute Individual Performance and I wish to write a piece based on the life of a pre-op transgendered person (at the moment I’m thinking FtM but that may change) to try and challenge myself and raise awareness and acceptance. For this reason I’m asking anyone who is willing to talk to me about their experiences as a transgendered person (FtM, MtF, post-op, pre-op – it doesn’t matter, any help would be invaluable to me) to help me compose my piece. You can email me at silver_qwerty@hotmail.com. Also, any transgendered people in the Sydney, Australia region who are willing to meet up with me, especially FtM, would be absolutely fantastic. Thanks so much guys.
Love Liv xxx

I have a question. I want to raise money for my transition, but I technically can't work, so I figured I would start in the work study program. Is it possible to do without the government (i.e. WIC/TANF/other), taking benefits at home?
I'm sorry if that doesn't make much sense.

| questions |
[27 Jul 2006|07:47pm] |
My name's Mike and I'm pre-everything. I'm 18 and out to 98% of my friends who are pretty cool about me being transgendered although they still call me by my birth name for the most part. I used to rarely bind, but am begining to do it more often, hopefully daily althought its with ACE bandages. I do not pack, use a STP device, or go into the male restrooms. My father knows, but completly ignores the fact and the rest of my family has no idea.
Here's my questions:
I'm a senior in high school, and in JROTC (I love the program and Idk if me being out would create an issue). Would it be a good move to come out to the highschool so I could graduate under my prefered name? I'm worried about the Staff and Administration reaction, not as much the students.
Also, what can I start under the radar living in my house without my parents knowing this year to get a jump on transistioning??
Does anyone know of some good colleges in TX that are friendly with Transistioning??
Anything else that you all know that could help me out???
