Race and transgender issues for research paper
I've been asked to look for articles written on race and transgender issues in the US. I know that there are some resources out there for trans people of color, but finding articles that discuss the topic is incredibly difficult. Anyone know of any?

What angle are you approaching it?

I am working on a paper that, ultimately, defines a body of cultural production an abject body and why... I think more of us need to talk...

So, what kind of issues are you looking for? What's the aim of your paper? Whatcha doin'?

i don't know, it's not my paper. it's by a person that's 3 people removed from me (ie, someone asked someone that asked someone else that eventually came to me). my guess is that it's a general introductory-to-the-topic sort of paper, an inetersections of race and transgender identities/experiences thing perhaps.

District 202 is conducting a needs assessment for trans poc--they'd probably know...

If you do find good stuff, I'd be interested to read it. So far it's something I've heard talked about and not so much been able to find resources about. Which is frustrating because I know it's something I need to be educating myself about, and something where the folks who know firsthand are way too busy to come and educate me personally...

thank you.. it's not my paper and i don't think i'll have access to reading it... but i'm thinking of eventually putting all these resources i'm finding from posting on a number of communities together and either putting them up on a site somewhere or posting back to the communities.

the film "cruel and unusual" examines the situation of trans-women in the prison industrial complex- its not poc specific but the majority of sujects of the documentry are trans women of color.

another place to look might be a trans-poc writings zine put out a while ago by a philly based activist i met a few years ago called priyank jindal. look them up.

other than this, i would check out "trans gender warriors" by white trans author leslie fienberg, which puts trans-struggles in an anti-colonialist/racist/capitalist and feminist framework.

yeah, that's fine.

i have no idea to be honest, because screenings are now just done by community or campus organizations, not by sundance itself. the good news is though the DVD is out and i think amazon carries it in case you or a friend would want to buy it.
