| Pagan/child friendly cafes in the GTA? |

Just out of curiosity does anyone know of any pagan/child friendly cafes in GTA ?If they would be willing to accommodate a group of 10-20 people on a monthly basis that would be ideal. Extra bonus if they were either central/downtown or close to the Subway line.
I know that the Jade Elephant in Etobicoke has the occasional mini psychic fair and drumming circles there, but that is quite out of the way to get to...

Strangely enough, I found this community by googling for occult shops in Toronto (and found the address for Formula 1--woooohooooo!). Anyhow...
My name is Aelwyn. I'm fairly active in the Hamilton Pagan Community, and regularly attend the Hammertown Pagan Pub Moot. I'll actually be doing card readings there this month and next month to finance a trip to NYC for the NYC makeup show (I'm a makeup student and getting there to meet and greet and learn the industry is very important for me). I read Faeries Oracle cards and do a specialized crystals reading. My man will also be reading cards, but reads Magic: The Gathering as oracle cards (I'm serious--how geeky/cool is that?).
Enough advertising, a bit about me:
I'm 29, a Haegtessa, a Hard Polytheist of mostly the Hellenic kind (though not Hellenismos), on this path for 21 years, a Child of Hekate and Pan, and now venturing into Hoodoo.
MUA by trade, MUA in school (getting certified so I can join the union), disabled (you don't want a list of my health issues...LOL), in love, thirsty for all kinds of knowledge, thrift store/flea market/antique store hound, crafter, and lover of all things skulls. :)

About the book:
Pagans often claim that their spiritual inspiration comes not from a written scripture but from personal experience and original creativity. While this is true, there are also many written works which constitute its "testament", or its central literary expressions of spiritual identity. Some of them are thousands of years old, such as the Descent of Ishtar, and the Homeric Hymn to Demeter. Others are more recent, such as the Charge of the Goddess. These written works have not been brought together, in the same book, since the movement began.
"A Pagan Testament" collects these original works, along with the poetry and prose that inspired the founders of Wicca when it all began. It also includes the largest collection of circle songs and wisdom teachings ever published: over 100 wisdom-teachings and 130 circle songs, contributed by almost two thousand people, from twelve different countries around the world!

| Hi. I just joined, Interested in making new friends |

I moved to Hamilton, Ontario 3 years ago and am interested in making new friends in the metropolitan area. Especially interested in meeting anyone from Hamilton, Dundas, Westdale, Burlington, Oakville, etc. I hear so much from Toronto, you can't help that. But where are the Hamiltonian pagans?
Some background on myself. I am Asatru. I have been for 13 years, but have attended general pagan events in the States. Happily married mother of 3, married to another Asatru, who is originally from Hamilton, and we are raising our youngest dual citizen daughter to question and be open-minded religiously. My profile has more details.
I am glad to have found this community and interested in learning more about upcoming events and moots.

Enjoy a night out with other Pagans and Pagan-friendly folk of the GTA. The Jersey Giant is a pagan friendly venue that offers a complete menu and a well stocked bar.
Children are welcome.
Both Union Station AND King Subway Station is in walking distance and is wheelchair/stroller accessible.
There is parking behind the Jersey Giant, parking on Front Street, and parking off of Church.
The Toronto Pagan Pub Moot is the first Pagan Pub Moot in Canada (c. Feb 1996) and is an open and friendly social event that meets every Third Calendar Monday of every month. It is open to Pagans, Wiccans, Witches, Druids, Asatru, etc of ALL ages and those who are new and would like to learn more. As this is a social event, there are no lectures or specific talks. It is a GREAT place to meet up with old friends and make new friends.
The TPPM is also a great place to find out what else is going on in the Greater Toronto Area Pagan Community. A wonderful place to network, grow and learn. We get about 30 - 60 people at each Moot so it is a great place to connect.
The Jersey Giant welcomes the Toronto Pagan Pub Moot by offering a private room, some food, drinks, those who are 19 years or younger CAN now come to the Moot! Pagan Parents can come and bring their children.
Those who are 16 to 19 should come with others and those who are under 16 should come with a guardian or parent.

If any of you guys are interested, the shop takes submissions from artist all over the world. The artist keeps the all rights to their art work and also gets a royalty of 2 bucks per shirt sold. This is a great idea for small bands that want t-shirt, but don’t want to pay a printer for a million t-shirts. |

Hey all,
My online class has decided to do our feature package on youth and religion. I thought, given the stigma attached to religion in an increasingly secularized society, that it would be awesome to find a highly educated pagan to interview -- I want to showcase the fact that it is quite possible to be highly educated and still deeply spiritual.
I'm in Toronto and would need to meet in person for interviews, so you'd have to be in this general area. You also need to be willing to have your pictures and possibly your legal name appear online (I'll check on the name with our prof; it may be that because of the marginal nature of paganism, a pseudonym of your choosing would be acceptable).
My ideal person would be:
-Under 35, or even better, under 30
-Either be working on a doctorate, or have a masters or doctorate already
-Degree would ideally be in something technical (science, engineering, math) to make the perceived contrast between stereotype and reality more stark
-Articulate and well-spoken

The Subtlety or Force Encampment of Albuquerque, NM has released its premier issue of the new quarterly local body publication: Doomsayer's Digest.
There are only 240 in print with less than 50 remaining!
This publication is developed and edited by the Director of the US-OTO's "best of" anthology project as announced on USGL's website's 2007 Strategic Plan. It is designed in response to a lacking of explorative academia he noticed while surveying Local Body Publications from within the past 20 years.
The Doomsayer's Digest attempts to bring an academic rigor into esoteric studies and creative writing. It does not feature poetry or art, despite the editor's appreciation of each, but specializes its pages to a scientific pursuit of hermetica without the empiricist fetishism born of post-modernism or the abortive birth therefrom in the form of materialism. It combines traditionalist analysis, academic standards, and subject matter relevant to Thelemic culture, history, and interests.
In Volume 1, Issue 1, 2008's fall issue, there are two featured articles. One is titled "Of Iron and Youth" and explores the concept of the soldiery of the Eisenjugend (through Hermeneutic analysis) as a symptom of the Aeon of Horus' difficulties for the modern warrior and the common mercenary. The other article, pompously titled "The Phoenix," is an exploration of the mystic aviary that bears the same name and is the first and only comprehensive hermeneutic, historical, anthropological, traditionalist, and magical dissertation on this very relevant subject. It has been praised by persons within and without the Order as a "must read for any serious esotericist" and "subtle allegory of the initiated experience."
I do personally hope yall enjoy it and get yourself a copy and a subscription. They're on sale for $5 (plus shippin') a pop.

I was talking with someone recently, and mentioned a store to them, that they didn’t realize was in the city, which got me thinking that I may know some stores that cater to occultists in the city, and that other people may know ones I don’t. So I thought I’d put it out for this community, if you know of any stores, which cater directly or indirectly (like Thuna below) to occultists, magic(k)ians, pagans, new agers or the related ilk, post them here. Post their names, and address (or area if you’re unsure), and what they offer. I'm curious to know what may be out there, and have a better listing to work from.
Formula 1 Religious Supplies – 3284 Danforth Ave (just West of where Danforth Ave and Danforth Road meet) – 416-699-6638
Formula 1 is a botanica, as such it largely caters toward Hoodoo/Santeria and related African Diaspora traditions. It sells some herbs, but not many, but has a good collection of oils, powders, washes and incenses, as well as “hoodoo candles” (I don’t know if there is a real name for them), candles with images and prayers for specific intents, sometimes made with appropriate oils.
Thuna Herbals – 298 Danforth Ave (Danforth and Broadview) – 416-465-7430
While not really an occult shop, Thuna Herbals is a great apothecary, carrying a wide variety of herbs in various natural forms, as well as some resins and gums. I buy the majority of my incense supplies from here. Also as this is an herbal store, in the sense of herbs to be taken orally, they tend to be higher quality (and price) than what you find in most occulty shops, if that is something that matters in your practice.
Eternal Moments – 3300 Yonge Street (North of Lawrence) – 416-486-9887
I haven’t been to this location, only having been to the one on Bloor that closed a year or two ago. If it is like it’s sister shop, it is a general metaphysics / new age store. They carry stick/cone incenses, candles, books, jewelleries and stones, and other assorted things.
I know I’m missing stuff that I know of (it’s been a long day), and I’m sure there maybe places I’m not even aware of, so I ask you good lurkers to help me fill my knowledge gaps (and likely those of others who watch this group).

Bedroom available in large two bedroom basement apartment near Yonge/Bloor (two minute walk to Rosedale Station). $550/month all inclusive (no cable, no landline phone). I’m subletting my roommate’s room while he takes a four month bike trip to Burning Man festival this summer.
You should be:
20-30 years old. (I’m flexible on this!)
Of any gender (all gender identities welcome!)
Queer-friendly (I and most of my friends are Queer)
Occultist-friendly (I and most of my friends are Occultists)
Dog-friendly (I have a cute elderly dog named Koko)

21 year old Queer girl, practicing Occultist (student of Feri, Thelemite, soon-to-be student Hoodoo Rootworker), Professional Makeup Artist, with small elderly dog (hypoallergenic breed).
The apartment is surprisingly big (two bedrooms, plus a temple room, and a room just for books! as well as a couple of closets, and a nice living room and big kitchen). I’m pretty friendly and relaxed about most things. My roommate Skatche and I are big readers, so we have a HUGE library of books, which you’d be welcome to peruse.
Basically, I’m looking for someone who’s friendly and respectful and can pay their half of the rent on time. :)
