Awoke from another one of these bad tornado dreams...
Although I have had a few over the past year- this one really sucked. There were a lot of small unexpected tornadoes everywhere which made me even more nervous because I could not tell where to go to get away.
At the end of my dream... having been driving in my parents car- watching these tiny storms along the way (and this time as an adult but still a passenger like I was as a kid) They stopped at a very high over-look spot and my mom got out to go look- followed by my dad. I stayed in car. All I remember is seeing my mother walk over to the edge and throw herself off. My dad reached out to grab her and stop her but he went over with her.
That is when I woke up. In a hot soaked sweaty bed.
Never fun...
Age:39 -have been plagued by reoccurring tornado dreams since the early 1970's.
I just found this community, and like a few others, have had many dreams involving tornadoes but didn't realize how common they were. I live in an area that is a near a beach and rarely sees tornadoes at all (I've also never been in a tornado, but I have seen them a few times before), although we had some tiny ones recently but they weren't near my house. However, what troubles me about my dreams is that I have had them since I was a kid (I'm almost 21.)

Some past dreams I had: *When I was little I dreamt that I was in the field next to my aunts house (next door to me in real life) and one of my friends was there. I was trying to get him to safety. I believe I failed to. *I've had several dreams where I have gone onto the deck of my house and tried to tell my mother that a tornado was coming. Everytime the dream is generally the same, but the tornado might look different. Sometimes it was a gray sky with a thin cyclone, other times it was night and storming and I could see it because of the lightening. When I try to tell my mother, she never listens. I usually wake up with a feeling I probably didn't save anyone. *Most of my dreams involve me trying to save my brother who hasn't been able to walk since he was born due to a medical condition. He is mentally retarded as well and often I am the one cleaning out our shower (which in reality is the safest room for us to go to) and picking him up or dragging him by myself to safety. *Sometimes I try to rescue the cats as well (we have 2, one I am very very close to and he usually comes to me in the dream so he is safe)
*Awhile back I had a dream I was in my grandfather's home (he lives a few blocks from me) and its really vague but I remember seeing the tornado (from either the window or his deck-porch, Im not sure) and I was rushing everyone (my grandfather, my girlfriend, ect) to a safe place, which happened to be a room in the back of the house. This room was way more luxurious than in real life and was entered on the opposite side you would enter it in real life. It is also the room where my grandma died when I was in 3rd grade. The room had a bathtub that most of us climbed into and then a robber showed up. I don't really remember anything after that, but it wasn't scary. *Two days ago I had a dream that I was at my grandma's home in Amarillo and it was me, one of my male friends, and my gf staying there. My grandma was in the kitchen and I remember seeing the tornado as being very dark (black with browns and very wide, almost like a black hole above the house) and just forming above the house (like I could see through the cieling, but it was still there). My grandma seemed pretty oblivious, and I suspect this is due to my suspicion she is going to die within the next year. *Last night I had a dream I saw a tornado forming in the yard outside my window (it was a dark blue color, but looked strong) and I went to clean out the shower (as mentioned above, its the safest room in my home) and I grabbed my gf and my cat and got them to the shower. I remember worrying about my brother as well.
I'm never really sure what these dreams mean or why I have them, I just know I've always had them since I was 6 or 7. Anyway, those are my dreams, maybe you guys can figure out what they might mean?
Since I live in the central Florida area, I took it upon myself to buy the best weather radio/alert device I could get my paws on. This led to the purchase of the Midland WR-300 All Hazards Alert Radio. My dream involving tornadoes used to involve very near misses or me actually being consumed by the funnel, waking up shortly after. Since I acquired the radio, my dreams have shifted slightly. Now, the radio alerts me, with the storm pursuing right after.
Last night, I dreamed that I was having a small get together at my home. The radio siren went off soon after everyone was settled in and mingling. I checked the display to see "Tornado Warning." I turned and looked towards the window of the living room to see the skies had become black and blue with gusts of wind blowing through the street followed by a loud rumbling that grew with intensity until I could see a swirling mass of cloud literally a few feet away from the window. Everyone just sort of stood there, mesmerized by the twisting haze and debris. A great feeling a dread from the pit of my stomach surfaced, making me sick, but I snapped out of it. I screamed "Get down!" Everyone fell to the ground behind the couch, huddling together except one of my friends who walked closer to the window, arm extended toward it. I screamed his name and no, running to, grabbing, and then dragging him down to the floor. At that moment, the window exploded into millions of shards, sending the little daggers into my skin. I could feel myself being lifted off the ground for a moment, but then the pull decreased. I looked up to see the tornado continuing down it's laid-in course. That's when I woke up, out of breath. I had fallen asleep on the couch, under the very same living room window I had dreamed about.
Emergency teams are searching for survivors of storms and likely tornadoes that ripped across Florida Friday, killing at least 14 people. "Our priority is search and rescue," Gov. Charlie Crist said, amid fears people might be trapped under the wreckage of homes destroyed by the storms. One emergency official said the storms came at "the worst possible time," when most people were in bed.
Why doesn't it surprise me that I would have a tornado dream this morning... It makes sense- with all of the changes in my life- this past week.
This tornado was huge and black against the white sky. I was at a school somewhere and could get inside before it hit. I woke up right away. As I lay there in bed, I thought that my tornado's were becoming strangely comforting... I now understand them for what they must be- I seem to have them when I am stress or overwhelmed. They now reassure me that I am human...
Hi everyone, I just found the group and joined. I often have tornado dreams and didn't realize until finding this community that it was so common. I don't have them as often as I used to thankfully (I used to have at least two a week) but every now and then they show up.
It happened again... I woke up at 5:00am having had another tornado dream. I was outside on a hill near a business park or a college, and in the distance I saw the clouds forming and the wind blowing. The sky was a deep blue gray color like the kind you see in winter or early spring. As the wind whipped around my body and wrapped my hair around my face, I looked for the closed place to take shelter. I raced to a tall building and ran to an open door. A scattering of other people had the same idea and were entering the shelter as well. As I enetered the entrance, it opened up to a grand staircase. I decided to go upstairs to get away from all the giant glass windows. When I go to the upper level, the storm must have passed. People were running to the rooftop to see the brilliant sky and the passing storm clouds. The sun was breaking through and shining a blinding light of yellow across the landscape. I put down my jacket and handbag and went to see the show. It was breath-taking. I stood there for about 10 minutes just looking at the sky before I realized that I should get my camera and take a few photos. I went back in to get my bag and found that I had been robbed! My bag was there but my credit cards, iPod, phone and camera were all gone! Someone had robbed me when I was out looking at that damn pretty sky...
Do you know I was So angry, that I woke RIGHT UP! At first I didn't realize it was a dream, so I was still upset. I had to figure out who to call first! Then I came too- and thought about the dream and that it started with tornados. I understand, that at this time of the year- with some much going on- it was no wonder why I am a little stressed out and had this dream.
I believe those tornados represent my deadlines- for my book, my projects, and my fast approaching birthday.
I am glad it was only a dream. I will NOT let me bag out of my site for damn sure too... Haaa!
I will post again when I have another one of these dreams... Uuugh- which I am sure will happen again and again. XoxoxoX
It is September and it has been some time since my last tornado dream... Well- Until I had to go to Ohio to work on my Book project two weeks ago. While I was there, I had a tornado dream. I was in a house with my cats and all I know is that the tornado lifted the house up off its foundation enough to allow it to slide back and off a hill into a giant ditch. I woke up before I hit... But it was still a pretty nasty dream...

hey i'm new in this community..but since I'm..maybe 5 years old I had dreamt often of tornados...maybe thatswhy because i'm so scared of them? Okay I live in germany but sometimes here are some little tornados too...and that scares me that much..when i would ever see a tornado i would hat to make a therapie..
I had another tornado dream last night... I was in a car as a passenger again. We were trying to out-drive 2 tornadoes. I only know that one of them was unusual in color- it was a deep dark gray funnel cloud- with white clouds around it and a very dark sky behind. I had a dream with six tornadoes, last night, as mentioned in this entry.
(By the way, Springfield IL just had a pair of F2 tornadoes, a couple of weeks ago. No deaths or serious injuries, but quite a bit of property damage.)
I woke up around 2:00 am. having had another tornado dream... (See.. I told you that these dreams have plagued me since I was old enough to remember dreams...)
+ I was in standing in my dinning room of my childhood house. I was looking out the window at my cats in the backyard. I heard this incredible roar and saw something big and dark coming through the trees and it was destroying everything as it approached. I ran to my kitchen door and grabbed Paige kitty from outside and hit the floor and held on. (I can only guess Paige kitty was in my dream because she is so sick and needy). The windows blew out, the door ripped off, and the microwave came flying across the room and just missed hitting me and Paige. It was after that - that I woke up. It was far too violent a dream for me to continue. Adrenaline washed over me and I sat up in bed and waited for my heart to stop pounding. It was quiet. The cats were at my side and feet and Thomas was sleeping soundly. Only Paige seemed to know I was awake and walked up to see me. After some pets and hugs with her, I rolled over and went back to sleep...+
Always... tornados and storms and events from the skies... Always...
I had another tornado dream. I woke up this morning with it being so clear in my mind.
The sky was purples and oranges and so bright. It was raining as the sun is setting and the street I am driving on is splashing. Into a valley full of lighted tress and vivid color- like the lights you see on trees at Christmas time. The tornadoes were deep purples against a stormy sky far enough away, but we were still driving as if we were trying to get away. They kept forming. I counted about 3 or 4.
I am in the back seat of a car- being driven by some younger girl who must be family (although I don't have a younger sister or extended family member? Perhaps it is a younger version of me?) My mother is in the front seat and we are arguing. It is at this point that I totally understand the significance of these tornadoes!
(I will pick this idea back up later tonight when I have more time to type)

Locations impacted include, cockeysville, hunt valley, If you are in or near the path of this storm, take cover now! if no underground shelter is available move to an interior room on the lowest floor. Mobile homes and vehicles should be abandoned for more substantial shelter. Avoid windows!
UUUGH! The Tornado King is looking for me.... I better run and hide...
