In the spirit of the good Captain, we're up for anything and everything here at the Institute. Discussion, speculation, rumours, fic, icons, wallpapers, artwork, interpretive dance, re-enactments of the defabricator scene from 'Bad Wolf' in lego - almost anything goes as long as it stays on topic. We do have a strict policy on spoilers and posting rules for nights when new episodes air, to keep us all sane: please read them, and keep to them, or the mods will have to kick your bottom, and we'd much rather be staring at Jack's.

| | - Season 2 is now fair game. Any spoilery info you have about S3, radio plays, novels etc should be tucked behind an lj-cut. What counts as a spoiler? Use your common sense: if in doubt, put it behind a cut.

| Episode Night Reaction Posts |
| | - Every Wednesday, before an episode airs on BBC2 in the UK, a mod (usually

This post will be for posting your initial reactions before, during and after that week's episode airs. - A second post will also be posted to the community as a catch-all post for episode reviews. If you post a review in your journal and want to link to it in
![[info]](http://p-stat.livejournal.com/img/community.gif) torch_wood please link to it as a comment in this post, instead of making a new post in the community. Posts made in the main community for the sole purpose of linking to a journal entry will be deleted. - Posts made that contain spoilers without a <lj-cut> will be deleted.
- The community will now go moderated on Wednesday nights when a new episode airs: members will be able to post their reactions and reviews to the existing threads immediately, but new posts to the community will not appear until they have been approved by the mods.
Worried that your wonderful thoughts will disappear and be ignored? Reaction and Review posts for each episode are linked in the sidebar on the front page. You can also 'track' the reaction posts: click the pin icon, or the word 'track', to receive email updates each time a new comment is added. The Reaction and Review posts will also be linked at torchwood_three, the fandom's daily(ish) newsletter where you'll also find all the latest Torchwood action on LJ. We're not trying to squish discussion, despite LJ's comment-collapsing efforts: just to avoid people getting so fed up with seeing Torchwood on their flist that they give up entirely.
General discussion posts post-episode are absolutely welcome in the main comm (suitably spoiler-cut and tagged, of course). That's what we're all here for, after all: to speculate, and ponder, and make innuendo-laden silly jokes. |

| | - 'Torchwood' is an anagram of 'Doctor Who'. Eve Myles (Gwen) and Naoko Mori (Tosh) previously appeared in Doctor Who. That 'hand' on Jack's desk? Yeah, we've all figured that out too. Don't tell us again, or we may flatten you with our collective sigh of fannish weariness. For other examples of very frequently asked questions, check out the community FAQ.
- 'Bugger, my video didn't work and I missed it - can someone upload the episode for me?' Sorry, we can't help you.
- 'Hi, I'm new here and I love Torchwood!' That's nice. But this is a big community with high traffic, so let's keep posts on topic, and purposeful. If it's more about you than it is about Torchwood, it belongs in our off-topic community, torch_wood_cafe.
- 'I've written a fic. Can someone beta it for me?' torch_wood_cafe's the place to look.
- torch_wood_cafe is also the place to post your beta requests, pictures of your Torchwood themed soft toys, your random ponderings that aren't on-topic, advice or suggestions for expanding your fic, etc.
- 'Here's my brilliant new community all about K9 and Sarah Jane, that has absolutely nothing to do with Torchwood!' We love Torchwood-related community promo posts, but this isn't the right place for yours. Try torch_wood_cafe instead.
- ZOMG I MUST PUT ALL MY POSTS IN CAPSLOCK!!! Or in annoying huge font sizes and colours! Please don't: it's a quick way to irritate almost 4000 people all at once.
