Fired at 44

I never actually heard the words made famous by a certain man on a certain TV show. Instead I got a lot of harrumphing and vague “I-got-some-bad-news” mumbling. Over the phone. The night before my forty-fourth birthday.

Two things hit me simultaneously: the heavy thud of realization that I am not wanted, not liked, not worth my salt, not loved—yes, I know this sounds a little over-the-top, but I have the tendency to run with the negatives—and the lightening of a burden lifted; I would no longer have to worry about missing my children’s recitals, date nights with my husband, and all that family life has to offer. It was a curious mixture, one I imagine akin to standing in a falling elevator but knowing you can jump up at the last moment to prevent gravity from crushing you. And you can walk off. Not unscathed maybe, with a permanent distrust of elevators perhaps, but alive.

Hey everyone! So guess who I ran into today when I was shopping with my friend...

( Hint: She's from season 3 )

I was looking at a website for an anime expo we have here in Australia called: Armageddon. A feature of the expo this year is a huge pillow fight, and this was the image they used. Is this Michelle from cycle 4 ANTM? I thought it might be because the eyes seem similar and she was a wrestler. Nowhere on the page does it say if it is her or not. Thoughts?

The three remaining girls arrive in Buenos Aires for Fashion Week. They are challenged to re-enact scenes from the life of Argentinian icon Eva Peron for a photoshoot.

I ran into this advert randomly today and can't help but wonder... so I'm throwing this over to all the Elina experts here...

So I know it's tons of fun to drag this glorious train wreck of a show and everyone on it through the Internet-mud, but I was watching cycle 2 again and I started wondering something.

Are there any honest-to-goodness instances that just made you melt a little? Just small stuff that proves the show isn't all about manufactured drama and Tyra's wig of the week and has you remembering that, hey, these really are actual people.

I got to thinking about this after Catie had her hair lopped off and Tyra was totally sweet about comforting her, telling her it was okay to cry and that she just needed to trust that the professionals knew what they were doing, etc. Granted, it's kind of sad, because this would never happen on ANTM as it is today.

A few more I thought of:

When Adrianne and Elyse are walking down the street in Paris and Shannon's trailing behind them. Adrianne kind of waits up for her and gives her a hug and says something along the lines of, "Come on up here, Shannon, we won't leave you out." (Which is even cuter because there's another clip where Shannon's walking with Robin, who's power-stomping along and all, "Shannon, you need to walk faster.")

Norelle(C3's thinnest girl)'s confessional about wishing she could be more like Toccara (the heaviest girl).

Anya bringing Fatima dinner in bed and being all concerned about her when she was sick.

Anyone else have some?

The guys at Project Rungay went to the finale of The Fashion Show and included in their blog are photos of the final collections. Do not click if you don't want to see some of the final collections. It appears that Anya (Cycle 10), Bianca (Cycle 9), and Catie (Cycle 2) walked for three of the designers.
