Yaya spotting!
Searched the tags and am pretty sure it hasn't been posted yet buttt.... I was watching tv and a commercial for Dr. Scholl's came on featuring ANTM's favorite pretentious new-ager.

See the spot here:

I forgot she was a dancer.

Go Sees?
So I was just thinking.....where are the go see's this cycle?

They normally have them go when it gets down to 5 right? I cant believe that the only go see challenge they will have is the group one! Crazy!

Perhaps they couldn't find enough designers that would have anything to do with Top Model???

(I checked and don't see this posted, so mod's you can remove if its already been discussed)

Finland's Next Top Model
I only saw the elimination (huge YAY at getting rid of the bitch btw). Anyhoo, here's the link to the commercials the girls shot for Magnum Temptation. Even if their acting kind of sucks I like the fact that these actually somehow look like real commercials, unlike most ANTM stuff.

Who was sent home.

My Parody of ANTM
I'm a big fan of Top Model and today I made this video. Sorry for the crappy setting AND video itself but I hope ANTM fans enjoy it. It's called ANTB. America's Next Top Bitch. haha

Cycle 9 marathon.
The season I usually forget about because Tootie Carparts won is on MTV.

So many great models...Marvita as a semi-finalist...and Tootie Carparts still won.  *sigh*

Then again, I'm happy that the models that applied for other seasons and finally made it on to the show in Cycle 10 made it to Cycle 10.  They went to New York and drove around in a stretch Hummer ("taxi," but whatever).  Take that Saliesha!

Ksenia - Neiman Marcus, backstage pics
Ksenia Kahnovich (Russia’s Next Top Model winner) had a really good Fall/Winter 2008 season, and we will soon be seeing her in the F/W 2008 Gucci ads. There’s a new video compiling her walking in the shows from the last season, and a video of her speaking backstage at Versace. Here’s the clips, as well some new runway and backstage pics this community might have not seen yet. Also there’s some pics she recently did for Neiman Marcus.

More Ksu under the cut! )

Cycle 10 Marathon on MTV!
The cycle 10 marathon is on MTV right now!
This is the first time in the history of America's. Next. Top. Model. that I forgot about the marathon before the finale, so I'm assuming I'm not the only one. It'll be on til 8pm ET.

Plus sized extravaganza...and Zob...errr Fatima.
Between painting Whitney and planning to paint Fatima, I decided that I wanted to paint a well established plus sized model as well.
Everyone, meet Sophie Dahl(NSFW) )

I also found a fashion designer in Italy that has a plus sized runway every season. Elena Mirò. Here are their Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter shows. Kate Dillon seems to be in quite a few of them.

And I finally painted Fatima today. She came out looking like some sort of Fatima/Bianca lovechild. During painting, I bonded with my artwork. I decided she was the true face of Zob.

Ugly Betty?
So I was watching yesterday's episode of Ugly Betty, and Betty throws a baby shower for Charlie... and there were pregnant women there. And I swear one of them looked like Jaeda Young. Just wondering if anyone else saw that? I wanted to check again, but the scenes were so short and they didn't show the other women too much. Probably wasn't her. XD;

Fashion Capitals
I'm working on my dissertation about fashion culture in the 1990s, and was doing some research on fashion capitals. This list surprised me:

Rank
1. New York -- Far and away No.1 by every index
2. Rome -- Beats out Paris, London and Milan
3. Paris -- Heartbeat of the fashion world
4. London -- Pulsing with creative energy
5. Milan -- Perennial contender for No. 1
6. Tokyo -- Gaining global influence
7. Los Angeles -- Will Posh Spice impact Ranking?
8. Hong Kong -- No. 1 in South Asia
9. Las Vegas -- Emerging as vibrant fashion center
10. Singapore -- Strong regional hub
11. Berlin -- Big fashion push & its working
12. Sydney -- OZ scores two in the Top 20
13. Barcelona -- Regional center grows in stature
14. Shanghai -- China breaks into the Big Time
15. Melbourne -- Gold Coast is golden for fashion
16. Moscow -- Lenin would not be amused
17. Bangkok -- Realizing its dream
18. Mumbai -- Indian fashion influences globe
19. Santiago -- Major strides for a proud nation
20. Rio de Janeiro -- More than Carnivale and Ipanema
21. Sao Paolo -- Money and fashion DO mix
22. Buenos Aires -- Seat of Classic Beauty returns
23. Johannesburg -- A first for Africa
24. Dubai Dubai? -- Yes, Dubai,
25. Krakow -- Neo-Bohemia thrives

The rationale behind it:

“The ranking is surprising in a number of ways, most of which relate to the changing nature of the Global Fashion Industry, said Millie Lorenzo Payack, Fashion Correspondent and Director of the Global Language Monitor. “Cities that recently would have been considered fashion backwaters – or worse, are now emerging as significant regional hubs.” This exclusive ranking is based upon GLM’s Predictive Quantities Index, a proprietary algorithm, that tracks words and phrases in the print and electronic media, on the Internet and throughout the blogosphere. The words and phrases are tracked in relation to their frequency, contextual usage and appearance in global media outlets."

http://www.languagemonitor.com/Fashion.html

ETA:

This list was compiled by number of hits/references for these cities while in conjunction with fashion-related material. Unfortunately, I've seen this list proliferated elsewhere on the web. I went to the link and looked around more, but what's interesting to me is this list is hardly concrete. With exception of the "Big Five" (Paris, NYC, Milan, London, and Tokyo), by the changing standards almost anywhere could be a fashion mecca--it all depends on what a person is looking for, i guess. Hell, there's one report about how Omaha, Nebraska is the Underground Fashion Capital.

i laughed so hard when i saw this
i'm so excited i have something i can finally contribute to this community!

i was just putzing around barnes and noble, when i noticed a bunch of 'ethnic' romance novels in paperback that were new displayed on the end of a row of books.

JADE IS ON THE COVER OF ONE OF THESE BOOKS.

here's the link: http://search.barnesandnoble.com/Double-Pleasure-Double-Pain/Nikki-Rashan/e/9781601620521/?itm=1

for all her bravado and arrogance slightly disguised as self-confidence, i think it's unbelievably amusing she ended up there.

although at least she's still modeling, and in a national way. which is more than i can say for other girls.

Gettin' Crafty with America's Next Top Model
Those of you that know me or regularly read my journal know that I normally can't post any sort of picture without some long-winded explanation behind it, or some cutesy theme post, a la "Cookie Time". In fact, I was going to make this a "How-To" post. But this isn't about me. This is about America's Next Top Model, and the level to which my fandom has finally reached: complete and utter obsession. So here is the short explanation behind what you are about to see.

I needed a large poster that was about the size of my window to put on my wall next to the window to balance things out. Not being satisfied with going to the store and finding any old thing to put up there, I did what any reality TV obsessed person would do: )

I guess this qualifies as ANTM-related... Paulina Porizkova is the newest 'Real Celeb' on Stardoll, and there's also a Paulina doll you can dress up.
