Oops. I don't know if my brain is already on in a turkey coma or if it's so focused on the "Black Friday" sales, but regardless I didn't get a moment yesterday to check the polls to see if we have any ties...and of course we do. A lot of them actually.

So, I don't know how many people here are US based, and if you guys will be around much today to vote. I also won't be around much (cooking and all) so I'm going to leave these polls open until tomorrow. I'll have results, winners and banners tomorrow for everyone.

Tie Breaking Polls Here )

Also, as I said above, I'm not sure how many people here are US based, and today is Thanksgiving here (Happy Turkey Day!). So I know this is a hectic and short week, but we currently have 0 icons for Challenge 31 - Bugs and Sequels. **SIGH** I'd love to see some icons for this challenge, if you get the time. Again, I know it's a crazy week. You can enter 4 icons in each section and you can find sample caps and more information here.

Eeeks! I just was watching Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure with my kids tonight and realized that I had this whole challenge written up, but I'd never posted it! I'm so so so sorry for the delay.

And the reason the movie reminded me is that both challenges were inspired by Tinkerbell and the Lost Treasure. Now, I realize I happen to love this movie and the whole new Tinkerbell franchise as it is, but not everyone does. And surely not everyone is even as big of a Disney fan as me. So no worried, these challenges are not soly related to Tinkerbell.

Challenge One: BUGS
One of Tinkerbell's new friends in the movie is a little glow bug named Blaze. He's adorable and the insperation for this challenge. Bugs. They can be lead characters (like Blaze) or just happen to be in the scene (Like the little lightening bugs that appear over RJ's head in Over the Hedge) It can be any kind of bug; ant, bee, beatle, grasshopper, catterpiller, butterfly. As long as there's a bug in the icon it works. I'll even accept a 'bug' brush or clipart or what ever added to the image if you'd like.

Sample Bugs )

Challenge Two: Sequals
In live action movies, sequals are rarely as good as the original (yes there are exceptions). But in animation, it seems the sequals are just as good. Expessially when they are in the theater releases. This Tinkerbell sequal is just as good as the orignal (and honestly, I'm so excited for the next one that I can barely wait until next fall).

So this challenge must feature a sceen or a promo shot from a sequal. The icon doesn't have to say anything about the sequal just be from it. It's really important in this challenge that you remember to list what movie or show the image is from. For TV shows, it has to be images from the second season (say The Tick or Venture Brothers or something). Nothing fromt he first season.

Let me know if that's confusing or if you have questions.

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images

That's a total of 8 icons you can submit.
Icons are due on Sunday Evening (I'm on MST).
Any questions, just let me know. :)
Any suggestions for future challenge please comment as well.
Have Fun!

Also, we are low on votes at the moment. So please if you haven't already, don't forget to vote on our Food and Group icons here.

Strange Things Are Afoot at the Circle K...
I didn't change the layout...
it's changed.
hmmmmmmm....

But while I ponder over that, here's the voting for challenge 0930 for you.

* Vote in the poll and not in the comments
* Please vote in this style (Order matters):
1, 2, 3
This will help with tallying votes
* Vote for top two or three in all catagories as well as one in the special catagories
* Please don't vote for yourself or ask others to vote for you.
* Please do pimp this community out and ask for votes in general. :)

A new challenge will be up shortly.

Thank you again for voting. We had a HUGE turn out in voting for the tie breaker polls. And even then the results were all very very close. Thank you again for the amazing icons! The entry post as been unscreened if you want to see who made the icons or if you want to snag any.

And now On To The Winners )

Also don't forget that our New Challenge is open and icons are due tomorrow. We currently have enough icons to run voting (yeah!) but I'd love to see more! The challenges are "food" and "Groups".

20 November 2009 @ 06:52 am
Wow! This is seriously some of the closest voting I've ever seen, here or elsewhere.

But with voting this close...there are of course some ties. Just two this time.

If you could, please vote for one icon in each area.
Don't vote if your icon is shown. :)

A Second Look, A Second Vote )

Also, don't forget, Challenge 30 is up here. Three people have already submitted some amazing icons for both the "food" and the "Group" themes. We just need at least a few more icons to be able to have a good well rounded voting on Sunday.

You still have time, and the weekend. :) Voting on these will go up on Sunday (hopefully). You can review the challenges and submit here.

It's the middle of the week, and normally I run the results of our prior challenge and if needed put up any tie breaking polls (as we've had a lot of those lately, and who can blame them with the amazing icons we have here!) But today, I'll put up voting for our prior challenge. We had a bunch of great icons come in with the extention! Thank you to everyone.

All the normal voting 'rules' apply, BUT since I don't want to spam you guys on Sunday with results, a new poll as well as with a new challenge, I'm going to end this poll a little early. on Friday. That way I can put up any tie breakers on Friday. And results on either Friday or Saturday (if there are no ties I'll do it on Friday). Then, Sunday we are back on track.

Icons of Mythical Proportions and a poll to Stop Motion Back Here )

Don't forget, Round 0930 is already open. You have until Sunday to enter there. The themes are "Food" and "Groups". You can find all the information and submit icons here. I know this is a VERY BUSY time of year, so anything you feel inspired to make in your free time would be wonderful. So far one person has submitted 7 stunning icons (obviously a mix of both categories).

Next Thursday is Thanksgiving in the States. So of course that holiday/event is the starting point for my inspiration on this weeks challenges. But those of you who don't live in the states or don't celebrate Thanksgiving, don't worry, they are pretty generic challenges.

Challenge One: FOOD
What is Thanksgiving without a TON of food, where you eat so much you are sure you are going to be sick and swear you will never eat another piece of turkey...ever.

So this challenge your icon must include food or drink of some form. It can be on a table, or a character eating it, or fruit hanging from trees...what ever. The food does not have to be the focus, it just has to be in the icon somewhere. Also acceptable would be an icon without food, but text about food included (say you want to icon Donkey (from Shrek) and use the quote about "Makin' Waffles")

Some Examples of Hungry Cartoons )

Challenge Two: GROUPS
The next best thing about Thanksgiving is the Parades er...um...the Football games...I mean being with family and friends!

So for this challenge icons must feature more than one character. It can be two or more caracters from any 'toon'. I think this is a pretty easy one to find images for so I haven't supplied any. But if you want me to, let me know.

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images

That's a total of 8 icons you can submit.
Icons are due on Sunday morning.

I'm not going to 'really' extend this challenge. There are some REALLY amazing icons submitted. But I really could use a few more. Expessially in the Stop Motion category. I've run voting with the numbers we have (and far less for that matter) but I'd like to see more. I think there are only two people who have entered in Stop Motion.

Oh, of course I'd take more icons in Mythical Creatures as well!

SO...this post is to just remind those of you who may still want to submit that you have time. I'm going to put up voting later this afternoon or early evening to allow anyone else who wants to submit to do so.

Hope to see you there!

Oh...the entry post can be found here and I put up sample caps and links to some of the more popular stop motion movies to assist. There are also sample caps on the Mythical Creatures.

**EDIT**

I've had a request to extend this challenge until Tuesday evening.
If you'd like that additional time, please comment here and let me know.

for those of you who have already entered, I will put up a new challenge today regardless if this is extended. What I have planned for the next challenge might take a while to find caps so I want to give the full time frame.

Again, if an additional two days would assist you in entering this challenge, please let me know here or PM me.

12 November 2009 @ 06:40 am
Congratulations to all the winners!!!

You Banners Are Back Here )

We still don't have any entries for Round 0929. Gearing up for holidays? Not sure where to find caps? I'll update the Entry Post shortly with sample images. Remember you have until Sunday to enter the "Stop Motion" and "Mythical Creatures" challenges there.

11 November 2009 @ 07:35 am
Are you surprised we have some ties to break?
I'm not. They were some really nice icons this round.
And with that we have a few ties.

Enough babble, on with the polls )

And I've very sad to report that there are currently NO icons entered for Round 0929 (Stop Motion and Mythical Creatures>. **Sniffle** But there is still lots of time, as icons aren't due until Sunday. Should we still have no icons tomorrow when the results and banners for 0928 are up, I'll post some sample images. Will that help?

So, today I'm taking my kids to the Zoo. It's "Little People" day at the zoo and my youngest is so excited to meet "Eddie" and "Sonia Lee" from the Little People (let's hope she doesn't get scared - people in costumes are still touch and go if she'll like them). But...this trip has inspired both of our challenges this week.

Becuase, aside from being toys, the Little People are also a stop motion animation show. So four the first challenge, your um...challenge is to icon a 'STOP MOTION' toon. Little People, Nightmare before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach, Wallace and Grommit, Chicken Run...etc. I haven't included any sample pictures but let me know if you need some.

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images.

Samples )

And the other big reason we are going to the zoo is the Phoenix Zoo has Komodo Dragons now! They go "on display" next weekend, but zoo members can see them this weekend...and well we are zoo members. This inspired the second challenge which is MYTHICAL CREATURES. Now, talking animals don't really count as mytical. But Dragons, Unicorns, Elves, Gobblins, Faries, Trolls, Griffins...etc. Any creature from myth that is in a toon.

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images.

I was afraid I might have to extend this challenge, as it seemed harder than I had expected, but we had a bunch of wonderful icons submitted and I'm quite happy with the number of icons in each catagory. So with that, lets get on to voting!

Thank you for all the votes and the icons. Many of the tie breaking polls were very close, but in the end we do have our Winners )

Congratulations to all the winners!!!

And as your official reminder, we've had more icons come in in the last 24ish hours for Challenge 0928, but we could sure use some more. If you have time at the end of this week I'd love to see what you come up with in our "What's your name again?" and "One Color" Challenge. You can find more information and submit Here.

Time for Round Two of voting...also known as tie breaker votes. We have quite a few....so hold on to your hats 'cause Here We Go! )

And just as an early reminder, Round 0928 ("What's your name again?" and "One Color") is open. As of now, there are 2 and 3 icons for each category. The icons are beautiful, but I do need some more in order to put up voting on Sunday. So if you have some time, I'd love to see what you can do with the challenge.

01 November 2009 @ 07:44 am
In my family we are slammed back to back with holidays and birthdays for the next three months. Which means we see a lot of family and each others friends between now and Feb. 1. Sometimes we even see cousins and people we haven't seen in a long time...and my poor little mind can't keep up with who everyone is. This inspired this weeks challenge.

What's your name again?
All icons have to feature both the character and show their name somewhere on the icon. I've included a few examples behind the cut, but anything that shows both a character of your choice and their name (nickname is fine too) is good.

Examples )

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed (obviously)
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images.

And for our second challenge, a few weeks back I promised someone I would do a 'one color' challenge. I'm sorry that got pushed off a little longer than I expected. But here's that challenge.

Icons can only contain 1 color. They can be manipuled so that the whole icons is one color or they can be black and white with one part in color. Again, some examples behind the cut.

Examples )

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images.

That's a total of 8 icons you can submit.
Icons are due on Sunday at noon MST.
Any questions, just let me know. :)
Have Fun!

I hope you all had a wonderful Halloween (if it's celebrated by you and where you are) and/or a wonderful October. November is upon us and before I get to a new set of challenges, we've got some voting to do.

I'm quite happy with the number of icons we have for this round, but I warn you, I think they are amazing and you may have a hard time picking your favorites to vote for.

All the normal rules apply:
* Vote in the poll and not in the comments
* Please vote in this style (Order matters):
1, 2, 3
This will help with tallying votes
* Vote for top two or three in all catagories as well as one in the special catagories
* Please don't vote for yourself or ask others to vote for you.
* Please do pimp this community out and ask for votes in general. :)

Whew...that was a lot of tallying to do! Thank you all for all your votes (and in being respectful of time, I let one tie stand). And now...On To Our Winners )

Congratulations to everyone!

As a reminder, Challenge 0927 is up here. We only have two entries at the moment. There has to be more Tim Burton and/or side kick fans out there. I'm not two worried, the icons we have for that challenge are beautiful and you have until Sunday to enter. I look forward to seeing what you come up with!

29 October 2009 @ 08:20 am
I want to thank everyone for voting. We had a good turn out in the end. :) But with more votes coming in, and the icons being as beautiful as they are, we have a few ties that need to be broken.

Please choose your favorite icon for each area. Please do not vote in the poll if your icon is included.

I'll have all the results up later today.

Um...normally we get LOTS of votes right out of the gate and then none for the next days. But we have hardly any votes this time, and lots of ties with what we do have.

So I'm just stopping by your flist today to remind you that Voting is open on our villains and costumes.

Is voting low because there are too many polls this time?
Let me know so I can tailor future challenges and voting.

Oh...and yeah, there's a New Challenge up that currently doesn't have any entries. But you have until Sunday to enter so this is just a casual reminder.

25 October 2009 @ 07:11 pm
I know, do have a heart attack, I'm actually getting the challenge up on time. With both the new Tinkerbell movie and Ice Age 3 coming out on DVD next week it was really tempting to do a challenge that would include those movies. But I thought perhaps it would be best to give them a week or so so we can actually find caps from the movies. Instead, let's finish out our 'Halloween' themed(ish) icons this week as we are ending out October. One of my favorite directors is Tim Burton. And one of the great things about him is he not only does live action but he does animation as well.

For this week let's make icons from movies Tim Burton had his hand in. This can be as writer, director, producer or in any other form. I have included a list of all the animated movies he had a hand in behind the cut.

By Mr. Tim Burton )

Since last week our second challenge was based on one of my favorite quotes, I thought this week we'd continue that theme. One of my favorite lines from the cartoon "The Tick" is "Side Kicks, Kick em' to the side". (I admit I have lots of favorite Tick quotes, but that's one of them).

Your challenge is to icon non-lead characters. Characters that are 'side kicks', or even bit parts, minor roles, or guys in the background. The main character(s) should not be in the icon.

+ Icons may be animated, and text is allowed
+ Please include the title of the cartoon with each entry
+ You may submit up to 4 Icons in this category
+ Images can be taken from screen captures as well as from promotional or still images.

That's a total of 8 icons you can submit.
Icons are due on Sunday at noon PST.
Any questions, just let me know. :)
Have Fun!
