Speaking of teeth..
Didn't figure it was TMI enough, but after further consideration I've decided to regale you all with the story of my wisdom teeth removal this past Monday. Everything was fairly uneventful up until they sat me in the chair and slapped the nitrous oxide mask on my face. Apparently, I am VERY sensitive to nitrous oxide. After about five minutes, I remember getting super-woozy and my head conking onto the headrest. I wasn't asleep though, nooooo. For some reason, I started making smacky noises with my lips and rotating my head from side-to-side and I COULDN'T STOP. From there my legs began pulling and pushing gently on the chair, making little squeaky noises on the plastic. My right wrist was burning with pain, and I closed my hand in a feeble attempt to use one finger to point at my wrist while mumbling "Arm...arm...arm..." They had started giving me Versed and Fentanyl via IV, both of which I'm ALSO apparently hypersensitive to.
The surgery lasted a little over an hour, and the dentist reported that I was sobbing and shaking the whole time (I don't remember this as the above medicines are apparently amnesic agents); it was apparently enough that not only did my mother get really nervous and asked what was going on, so did the other patients who were being cared for nearby.
In good TMI fashion, I eagerly awaited my gauze removal. It was exactly what I expected, a soggy blood-soaked clump with some little mucus strings to boot. I even had a good (dime-sized) spot of blood on my wrist bandage over the IV site. The saline rinses were even better, I managed to blast some nice meatloaf chunks out the next night. I got my stitches out today, and things are healing up just fine.. Even got my teeth back, all whole, and I'm planning to make myself some tasteful earrings out of the little lumps.
