As "Lost" completes its second mind bending season with this revelation:

Desmond: "We're stuck in a bloody snowglobe"

Thanks [info]paulgregory and anonymous...

An announcement has been made that concurrent with production on the show's third season, a series of mobisodes will be filmed - short episodes made specifically for watching on mobile/cell phones.

Mobisodes have already been created for three non-Tommy series: 24, Prison Break and Doctor Who. Unlike these series, the Lost Video Diaries will be supervised by the series' showrunners and feature actors from the main cast. The Prison Break and 24: Conspiracy feature parallel stories starring other actors/characters.

With television becoming increasingly available for download, through legal means like downloads from iTunes (Tommy Downloaded), the Tommy Westphall Universe is getting more and more difficult to keep track of! But it's also making it a bit of fun.

"Lost" continues to push the boundaries between television and online content, with tie-in video games and in-canon websites being used to flesh out the mysteries of the series.

While the Tommy Westphall Universe tracks only television series, it seems the potential for what exists in that small boy's brain is limitless.

It's all in [insert character name]'s head... [Apr. 9th, 2006|10:06 pm]

St Elsewhere is a dream of Tommy. Newhart is a dream of The Bob Newhart Show's Bob Hartley. I Dream of Jeannie is a dream of The Bob Newhart Show's Howard Borden. Buffy is a dream of Buffy Summers. Six Feet Under is a dream of Claire Fisher.

And Lost is a dream of Hurley? Apparently he had a psychotic break in a mental institution where he first dreamt of the numbers?? It's a possibility. Unlikely to be the definitive answer of the series, but it's just another layer of fiction... another lense to see the show and the universe through.

The Lost phenomena is analyzed in an article at Flak Magazine called "Lost Shoots the Moon (or, Tommy Westphall's Acid Trip)". The Tommy Westphall site is linked to, as is the Wikipedia page on the phenomenon.

I'm not much of a Lost fan myself, but this is a great article - because it's all about Lost and Tommy. Interestingly it mentions the example of "Battlestar Galactica" to "The John Laroquette" show in two moves - and yet fails to realise that Lost is already a part of Tommy's imagination via the fictional Oceanic Airlines. (Where BSG to John Larroquette is determined by the fictional Weyland Utani Corporation and the fictional Yoyodyne company...)

Of course, I'm all for the suggestion that Munch appears in a Lost flashback interrogating someone (Kate, maybe?) in Baltimore or New York. The more Munch the better!
