TOMINATION

because Bad Music Kills

8/31/05 03:58 pm - [info]crushw_eyeliner - a nearly last minute heads up

Yes, yes it's true. If you didn't see the vaguely cryptic note on Tomination's blog, here it is again: Tom Mcrae is playing the Hotel Cafe, September 2nd. Friday.

Be there, bring friends. Say hello to Tom. I unfortunately will have to miss it, but I hope to make up for it when I see him in October in London.

5/12/05 10:49 pm - [info]amezri - Site updates

crossposted at [info]tomination_rss:

We'd thank everyone for their patience as we continue to enhance Tomination. The reorganization is going well, but you may have noticed a few things disappearing.

Our news section has officially switched over to blogger and our feeds should now be functional. If you are a livejournal user, feel free to add our syndication to your friendlist.

The link for the forum is gone from our menu and will be permanently deleted from our server in the next couple of days. We felt it was a bit redundant to have one when there is already a thriving community at Tom's site and ours was getting so little traffic anyway.

Our lj community is now open and all members are free to post. (We'll be getting a fresh new layout here, as well.)

Lyrics are sort of misplaced at the moment, but will soon find a home in our extras section, where our recommendations have also been moved.

Upcoming features include PSA clips, a tominated fanlist, and more downloads.

Thanks again for your patience!

5/5/05 10:34 pm - [info]amezri - site upgrades continued

Did a bit more work on the site. Apologies to people who were visiting and had the site tweak out on them. You'll probably notice that some of the pages are php and some html - the change over is still slow-going - as well as new menu categories.

Finally added the US "Just Like Blood" release information and the "All Maps Welcome" info on the discography page.

We also have a new calendar feature. It shows the shows coming up for the next two months. Events occuring today will be bolded and then crossed out when the day's ended.

Media files are slowly being moved over to tominationmedia.net, which was purchased so we could keep the files we have up and available to visitors. The bandwidth limit on that host should be hefty enough, though the daily cap is 2.5GB, so we'll probably release things slowly. The password system will remain in effect to protect us from hotlinkers.

We hope you will benefit from the changes we are making and find the site a useful source of information.

Ta!

4/20/05 02:47 pm - [info]amezri - site upgrade

I'm in the process up upgrading Tomination.org to php and switching our news page over to Blogger with feed syndication. So, if things start to look all freaky for a bit, that'll be why. It's going to take a bit of time, but I'm hoping to have it all done in time for the release of Tom's new album.

Speaking of, I'm sure this isn't news to people who frequent the official site, but All Maps Welcome will be released May 2nd 2005. Here's the tracklisting, as posted on Tom's site:

1. For the Restless
2. Hummingbird Song
3. The Girl Who Falls Downstairs
4. How the West Was Won
5. Packing for the Crash
6. It Ain't You
7. Strangest Land
8. My Vampire Heart
9. Slient Boulevard
10. Still Lost
11. Border Song

We here at Tomination are very excited and can't wait for the new album. To promote the new release, Tom will be playing many shows throughout Europe. I will have to direct you to his site for further details.

Until next time, viva la Tomination!

2/18/05 08:35 am - [info]amezri

Sorry, all, for the lack of updates. I've been delinquent in my duties. However, you'll be happy to hear that we have a lot of things in the works for Tomination including new recs, new downloads and new layouts.

In the meantime, please go see Tom at the final three shows of the East Coast residency:

Monday 21 - Philadelphia @ the North Star (buy tickets)
Tuesday 22 - NYC @ the Living Room (buy tickets)
Thursday 24 - Boston @ the Paradise Lounge (buy tickets)

12/19/04 11:34 am - [info]amezri - East Coast US in 2005

New tour dates have been posted on Tom's site. In February, Tom will be back in the US playing in Boston, Philadelphia, and NYC!

+ Thursdays in Boston at the Paradise Lounge
+ Mondays in Philadelphia at the North Star
+ Tuesdays in NYC at the Living Room

I'll be at the NYC shows (as many as I can), so I hope to see some Tomination people there!

10/13/04 01:35 pm - [info]crushw_eyeliner - FYI: A solo Tom Performance

East Coasters - as you all know, Tom loves you too, and he's returning to New York to play a date at The Bowery Ballroom. The performance is on Tuesday, the 26th of October. Book your tickets if you haven't already.

Also, Tom's playing an added in-store in Portland, Oregon on the 17th of October.

From the website (this is all from his official website, which you all should have bookmarked anyway. We're just reminders. Admittedly belated this time)

Tom is doing an instore in Portland, Oregon on October 17th at Music Millenium, 801 NW 23rd, Portland, OR 97210 Tel 503-248-0163. 3pm

Go forth and spread Tomination.

;)

9/26/04 02:01 pm - [info]crushw_eyeliner - To East Coast Tom Mcrae fans, with love....

Tonight is the NYC dates, so I'm sure we'll be hearing from [info]amezri about it in the new week - I'm so happy that my other half is finally getting to see and meet Tom.

Jane has posted the official sleeve artwork for the promo Napster cd that has been given out with the purchase of the American release of Just Like Blood on tour, so if you needed another reason to buy it (though, surely you own at least one copy already)...there it is.

To everyone who's on the East Coast and seeing Tom live tonight, have a great time - be sure to share your setlist/concert reviews (I'm totally looking at you, [info]amezri.)

We have the sets from Tuesday night's shows ripped, so they'll be appearing on tomination.org soon, along with promotional things to print out and proudly paste up everywhere....

I hope to see some of you in October, when Tom returns to L.A., supporting Rachael Yamagata at the El Rey. Tickets can still be purchased for that show - so if you know people in L.A., tell them to hurry up and buy the tickets.

9/22/04 10:23 am - [info]amezri

Tomination got thanked in the liner notes of the new Just Like Blood release! It was a huge surprise and we would like to thank Tom McRae & co for their continued generosity and support of our little site. It really means a lot to us! Wow.. that was almost statuette worthy. Heh.

If you're reading this and don't own a copy of the new edition of Just Like Blood, go forth and purchase it now. Forthwith. And such.

We'll be updating the site soonish with more downloads, promotional materials, and possibly a new layout. In the meantime, don't forget to catch Tom at a tour stop near you.

8/17/04 02:53 pm - [info]crushw_eyeliner - woohoo! Tour Dates!

Tom has put up his tour dates for the U.S.

If you have the money, transportation and time...GO.

He'll be supporting Rachael Yamagata.

The Power of Tomination COMPELS you, or something. All tickets except for the Hotel Cafe date can be purchased at Ticketmaster, or local box offices.

7/27/04 07:14 pm - [info]amezri - E-mail problems

We're currently experiencing a problem with our e-mail server. We can recieve the mail you guys are sending us, but everything we send out is failing to get sent. I've contacted our host and this problem will be resolved as soon as possible.

Apologies to anyone who is waiting for e-mail!

7/10/04 07:17 pm - [info]amezri - Site Downtime

Our host is relocating some data to new centers in an effort to increase service quality. So, expect some downtime between Sunday July 11 and Monday July 12. They're estimating 4-6 hours for service.

4/29/04 07:33 am - [info]amezri - Request Tom!

WONY (SUNY Oneonta's radio station) is now streaming. I've requested that Frank ([info]frankieteardrop) play something by Tom McRae on his show tonight (or next week). So hopefully we will have Tom on a streaming station! So...

Beauty Lives Forever - Thursdays from 6-8pm ET.

stream: http://www.live365.com/stations/wony2

I dare say request at Frank's LJ (;P), call, or IM... though I can't remember the station's AIM.

4/27/04 02:23 pm - [info]crushw_eyeliner - Tom Mcrae is coming back to the Hotel Cafe!

Tom Mcrae is back at the Hotel Cafe May 4th at 9 pm, with Greg Johnson at 10:30 pm.

Then he returns on the 18th, again, playing at 9. Both shows are Tuesday nights.

If you can, please come out and see him - and buy a cd afterwards, that's money directly going into Tom's pocket.

Hotel Cafe May Acts

"Live at the Hotel Cafe, Vol. 1" cd release party will be May 28th, with live performances from some of the bands involved. Line up is to be announced, but here are some of the (tentative) performers on the CD:

4/6/04 06:03 pm - [info]amezri - Hotel Cafe Update

Thanks to Saffron and Annie, we now have sound files from the March 9, 2004 Hotel Cafe show, as well as the Amoeba Music set from the same date. Both can be found in the Extras section, with the Hotel Cafe files on their own page.

eta: Many thanks to [info]sprightliness for the video files of the SXSW show, which can also be found in the extras area.

We will have all Hotel Cafe files up for one week, so snag them while you can. After that, they'll be in rotation to help save bandwidth.

Please do not hotlink these files. We're starting to go through bandwidth like candy. Once we reach 40GB, we're going to have to take down the files until the following month.

Also, don't forget that the downloads are now password protected. You can find the current password at the top of each download page/section. We will be switching the password often, so there's no need to memorize it or post it in a public forum.

Enjoy!

4/5/04 10:35 pm - [info]amezri - HOTLINKING

Due to suspected hotlinking, all music files are now password protected. Don't fret! The username and password is right on the music download page. We're just trying to discourage mass linking to our files. Stealing bandwidth is WRONG, people.

The password will change once in a while.

Tomorrow we're expecting to have the Hotel Cafe files up...
