ADMIN NOTE and some TOKIO updates

There are a number of new community members (Welcome!) so I thougt I'd put up a reminder that this community is for TOKIO information and not media and links to media. There are other communities out there to share and look for TOKIO media. A major reason is that most people are members of all the communities and I don't want this to be another community with cross-posted info and clogging friends lists. There are past entries on this comm with media links, but those were back in the days when this was the only community for TOKIO. Times have changed.

And speaking of times changing, I do apologize for not being more up-to-date with updates on the guys and what they are up to. I think I mentioned it before, but I'm back to being a student and while I still keep up with what TOKIO is doing, I don't have as much time to write updates, translate and link as I used to.

Just a few updates though, as I'm sure some of you have figured out, their long running show Mentore G has ended and they are starting a new show called 5LDK which is back in late night and 30 minutes long. The show starts on October 9. This Sunday they are doing That's Enkai-tainment! again. Taichi still has his slew of shows, including a new one called Tainocchi which from the name he is obviously doing with Inocchi (Yoshihiko Inohara) from V6 (this show replaces their show R30).

One great source for up-to-date information, if you understand Japanese, is TOKIO★POST. A list of all of the websites of TOKIO's various shows and such has just been posted, including shows that have ended. This isn't a list of all of their shows; there are shows without websites and those aren't in this list.

It's been announced that Matsuoka will be in a new series [Hissatsu Shigotonin 2009] starting January 2009. This will be the continuation from the special which aired in 2007 [Hissatsu Shigotonin 2007]. The cast will be the same as the special: Higashiyama Noriyuki, Matsuoka Masahiro, Ohkura Tadayoshi and, of course, Fujita Makoto.

Matsuoka has purple (former) ninja who loves food and alcohol. Could you really ask for more?

Also, I apologize for lack of links and references, I'm usually much better at this, but I'm back to being a student. Follow the "hissatsu" tag for info on the 2007 one.

The special event is something called [TOKIO FILM LIVE '08] that is being held in 5 places in Japan. More information to be released later.

Info from Johnny's Net. There's also info on J-Storm (no TOKIO page yet) about the songs, I have a paper due in 2 hours and then class all day followed by some Shakespeare in the Park, so I'll put that translation up sometime late tonight.

Personal Thoughts: SQUEEE!!! Two PVs!! Please say they're MABO-directed!! And "Version 1"? That means there's more versions!!! AND TOKIO STATION!!! I can't express how much I love and adore TOKIO Station and the title of this one is "TOKIO talks until getting tired". Yay!! That's TOKIO Station in general, so this one promises to be glorious. Plus this one is on DVD, so it's even better. I pretty much don't care about the content of the conversation, it's going to be great. And Taichi vocals!? Wow! Taichi love! And the song is going to be released a day after his birthday (which means it's in stores on his birthday! 34!) And another song from Shiina Ringo!! Yay! And I'm bummed I'm not in Japan to try for the [TOKIO FILM LIVE '08], but you can't have it all, I guess.

So far, the switch to J-Storm is looking pretty damn good. (^_^)

Nagase's the guest on the next Shonen Club Premium. Looks like it's another look back at previous episodes. I'm quite curious to see if Matsuoka's going to pop in like he said he would. Matsuoka's painfully paranoid that Nagase's going to say something mean like he did last time when watching Leader's VTR. (^_^)

A bit late since it just aired, but Matsuoka was on [Osharesim] today. Great episode. Good TOKIO bits and pieces.

Yamaguchi will be on [Aura no Izumi] on July 26. This should be good. Miwa-san previously told Yamaguchi years ago that he was a panda in a past life, so can't wait to see what has to be said between them now that Yamaguchi is doing [Kung Fu Panda].

TOKIO's new song is written by Sheena Ringo!!!

And TOKIO's moving from Universal Music Japan to Arashi's label J-Storm (nothing's up on J-Storm or Johnny's net yet, as of 10pm US East Coast time). The song is of course, for Matsuoka's new drama [Yasuko to Kenji] starting this Saturday. The other details are not up yet, but it looks like it will be on sale sometime in September.

The song's title is 「雨傘」[Amagasa] "Umbrella". Sheena's lyrics are about "a life used to its fullest" and "not to misjudge where you stand". The song as a bit of a jazz taste to it, new to TOKIO.

Matsuoka says he's happy that a new genre for TOKIO has been born and that he can't wait to play the song for the fans on TOKIO's tour. Nagase says that the song is filled with Sheena Ringo's world and that he's learned a lot and that he thinks it's turned out to be a great song.

TOKIO's been wanting to work with Sheena Ringo for a while and they've played with her band Tokyo Jihen before on music shows. Members of Tokyo Jihen were involved in the song's arrangement. Sheena Ringo said that when she got the request to write the song for TOKIO, she was really happy and that it was a lot of fun and she would love to do it again.

Leader says that TOKIO's movement to J-Storm is a new start for TOKIO.

Form the little bit I can hear on TV, it's sounds fantastically Sheena Ringo. SQUEE! I love Sheena Ringo. She's so damn cool (granted she was more cool when right when she debuted, but she's remained pretty damn cool over the years). Nothing has been mentioned yet, but I'm still assuming the coupling or double A is the new Mentore G ending theme.

I'm a bit curious about the move to J-Storm. I think TOKIO's the only Johnny's group that has moved around THIS much. They were originally under Sony and then moved to Universal and now they're under a Johnny's label. Strange.

Have not heard yet if Matsuoka is doing the PV or not. And he still won't admit that the onnagata (NOTE: not 'geisha') in [Honjitsu Mijukumono] is himself. It's cute how he avoided the question though.

But no matters. New song! Going to be a while before it's in stores, but they're going to play it at the concert, so, um, SQUEE!</lj>

Yamaguchi Tatsuya gets a diving license

Yeah, not the most earth-shattering news, but I think it's still cool. [Gekkan Diver] has an article following Tatsuya from June 12-15 in Okinawa earning his SCUBA diving license. He said that he could stay underwater for hours and that he feels more nervous diving than standing on stage in front of 10,000 people. He thinks the world underwater is fascinating and wants to dive somewhere where the sea floor is interesting next. Source: Daily Sports

For those who love Tatsuya's body...that probably means some sexy shots of him wet. Haven't seen it so I can't say for sure, but it would be a shame to do an article in a diving magazine and not have pictures of that body. I don't quite know what kind of license Matsuoka has, but I know he can scuba as well (his dad is a diver).

Matsuoka on Gochi: June 27!

Matsuoka will the guest on [Gochi ni narimasu 9] on June 27th. For those who don't know, [Gochi ni narimasu] is one of the games on Ninety-nine's [Guruguru Ninety-nine]. The regular members and a guest (sometimes two) go to a fancy restaurant. They are given a certain price and a menu without prices and they order items and try to get as close to the set price as possible. The person furthest from the set price has to pay for everyone. Taichi has been a regular member since the beginning and Gochi is in it's 9th year.

Nagase and Yamaguchi have both been guests when they're dramas were about to start in the NTV Saturday 9pm slot and Matsuoka's [Yasuko to Kenji] is in this slot.

Personal thoughts: Yay! I've been waiting and waiting for Matsuoka to appear on [Gochi] for years. He eats at a lot of different restaurants and often pays, so I'm pretty sure he'll be rather good at this. Though that kind of knowledge might get in the way, as it has in the past for other guests. But I don't think he'll lose. This should be good.

Basic set-up: Kenji gave up being the head of the motorcycle gang "Naked Gun" when his parents died 13 years ago and became a shojo manga artist to support his little sister Yasuko and himself. Yasuko keeps saying she hates Kenji and they always fight, but deep-down, she truly relies on him and trusts him. Erika looks like she's a straight-forward sweet owner of a flower shop, but she was a the head of the female motorcycle gang "Kurobara (Black Rose)" when she was younger. She has always been in love with Kenji, but he has always turned her down. Her younger brother Jun is smart and handsome. One day, Yasuko meets Jun and falls in love with him.

Matsuoka CM; Summer Tour Name; Yamaguchi Father's Day Reminder

Just a few things here and there.

Matsuoka is in Kentucky Fried Chicken's commercials for Red Hot Chicken for the 5th year in a row. At the Shibuya store, there will be a Matsuoka figure along side the Colonel Sanders figure during the promotion period. Source: Nikkan Sports

The name of the summer tour is set as TOKIO SUMMER LIVE '08, you'd think they'd be more creative, but without a new album and a possible new single that hasn't been announced yet (possibly not even chosen) and the tickets already printed and sent out to half the people attending, I guess the people naming it didn't really have much choice.

And a reminder for those who are interested in sending a card to Yamaguchi for his first Father's Day: It's two weeks until Father's Day. Considering mail services and that mail has to first go to JFC and then get passed along to Tatsuya, it would probably be a good idea to send him a card within the next week to get it to him on time. New Matsuoka drama [Yasuko to Kenji]

Begins in July on NTV, Saturdays at 9pm.

Matsuoka plays the former-motorcycle-gang(Naked Gun)-boss-turned-shojo-manga-artist Kenji. Kenji lost his parents when he was 19, and he left the motorcycle gang to become a manga artist to take care of his little sister Yasuko, who is 12 years younger than him. He's straight-forward, has a strong sense of justice, is assertive. He normally wears glasses, but he takes them off and will risk his life to protect Yasuko. Yasuko is in love with a hot guy, Tsubaki Jun. Jun's older sister Erika runs a flower shop and looks proper, but used to be a Ladies (female motorcycle gang) leader and was in love with Kenji from 13 years ago. Nikkan Sports calls it a "violence home comedy".

Matsuoka says the filming is going great and the cast and staff are having a lot of fun and he hopes that will be felt by the viewers. The produceer says that he couldn't think of anyone other than Matsuoka to play Kenji.

There was a clip on Zoom In this morning. Nikkan Sports and Sports Hochi have articles. And the official site is up.

Considering Mentore's new ending theme and TOKIO's tendency to do the theme song for Matsuoka and Nagase dramas, it's not a stretch to expect a new TOKIO single around July/August, which is right in time for the SUGAR Part 2 tour.
