Notes: I took a few more liberties than I normally do, so it's less direct then most of my translations with less room for interpretation, but the background of the song is clear, so it should be pretty close to what the lyrics are supposed to convey.

Personal thoughts: When I heard this, I cried. I love it when TOKIO songs are in this style (being a rockTOKIO girl more than a popTOKIO girl), but the lyrics did it. TOKIO has so many songs that are written by others and are tie-ins with shows or products and what-not. It's an essential part of their success and there is no doubt that they wouldn't have gotten this far without them. This also means the only things that don't have a tag on them are the songs in the albums and occasional c/w on singles. And those are songs that the guys want to sing. They have fun with them and have a lot more creative control. This is the first time the title song of an "album" (I still think [sugar] is a glorified single) has been written by the guys (technically written by Nagase and arranged by the guys) and it's an honest message to the fans. TOKIO's thoughts on the way to a venue where they're fans are waiting for them. There's a special relationship between a band and their fans and it means so much to me that TOKIO describe theirs the way they do in this song. They've said time and again that concerts are their favorite way to be with their fans. I'm not going to be there this time, but I'll see them again. And someday, whether it be in 10 or 20 years or later, they'll be on their way to see me where I live. TOKIO World Tour. It'll happen. I know it will. And I'll be waiting.

Because when I read the lyrics, I think AYU AYU AYU AYU AYU AYU AYU AYU ;o; And is it just me, or is he singing a little more nicely on the new songs than in the older ones? 	I'm too much of a hardcore TOKIO fan to have Nagase's ex overshadow this song and all it means to me. (^_^) I do prefer his voice now. Don't know much about singing voices, but it does sound cleaner. Who knows, maybe he quit smoking. (Reply to this)(Parent)(Thread)

	The only reason why I think of her, is because 90% of her last album was about him. -_-;; and 3 of her releases between July and December 2007 were also about him. m(_ _)m So it's kind of hard for me to not make the association! I've been waiting for this.

You dunno how thankful i really am for this.

The first time i heard the song.. I was really very emotional.
Sugar pushed me to tears, and all even without me knowing most of what's being said. Maybe just the fact that this song is especially dedicated to the fans is enough to make me cry. I have never seen them live before.. It's still a far off dream right now.. But someday, i'll make that a reality.. And like you.. Even if it's 10 or 20 years from now.

Isn't sugar supposed to make you high?
Why does this particular sugar make me cry?

wow, thanks for translation. i am loving the song even more now. i knew nothing about tomoya and TOKIO by this time last year and one year on, i have become a die-hard TOKIO fan (of course after started being a tomo-girl). as a result, just got to know ayu after knowing tomoya.
but i am also trying to convience myself that Sugar is a dedeication to fans because as other member said it well, release of this mini album would be entirly pointless
ps, i also want to use your translation on my vox. Is it ok with you dear? i will credit you for sure of course

Please do, luxvesperis. Would appreciate that very much. You and your LJ are very special to me since you made me a huge fan of TOKIO. I didn’t know that much about this group before I found your translation of SWITCH (a masterpiece and so touchy). Reading about their kindness, their way of thinking, supporting each other..... made me fall in love with TOKIO. Afterwards I learnt how amazing they are and got totally addicted to them. I try to spread the love for TOKIO, to let others know about them (was successful at least one time - Issy-chan is one of my “victims” LOL).
To read your translations is so very helpful. Again, thank you so much.
