Hello, I am Leigh. I have been a long-time teeth grinder and TMJ sufferer. I have recently acquired some really annoying side effects from TMJ, so I am starting a community for TMJ sufferers.
I don't wanna make a bunch of rules. I just want people to be nice to each other, and exchange ideas and experiences here about TMJ and related topics.
Any suggestions are welcome to add to and improve our site! I have tried to include the suggestions each of you have given me, and will continue to add on as I learn more... please feel free to tell me new stuff, and I will gladly add it!

Potential Ways to Alleviate TMJ:
(1) Athletic-type mouthplate to wear at night from drug store (about $50)
(2) Professionally made mouthpiece (about $1,000)
(3) Anti-inflammatory medication or muscle relaxers, such as Ibuprofen, Naproxen, or Flexeril
(4) Warm washcloth or heating pad on jaw/ear
(5) Consciously relax your jaw muscles during the day when you become aware that your jaw is tense
(6) Stress management through medication, counseling, or exercise like Yoga
(7) Avoid excessive use of jaw muscles; avoid opening mouth too widely
(8) I have heard debate as to whether sleeping on your side is the best, or sleeping on your back. I sleep on my side, so, I dunno...
(9) Taking vitamins; specifically, magnesium
(10) Surgery (ugh)
(11) Avoid hard-to-chew foods (list will be updated later)
