My Lebowskifest Experience :]
Lebowskifest - The first TMBG concert I've been to, and Wow. Just, wow. hehe. Up until now, I could never get rides to concerts and none were close enough. Somebody already posted the set-list, so I'll just write how it was for me.

Well before the concert, me, my dad and my friends went to eat at the restaurant next to it (Tumbleweed I think? I could be wrong... I didn't really pay any attention to the name of it.) I saw Flans walk into the restaurant minutes before we were called in, and then to my surprise, our table was a few away from where he was sitting. ^^; When I walked past him, I said hey (actually I kinda did to the guy next to him, but I don't know his name, but I was meaning it directed towards all of them.) They said hi back and I asked Flans about if they were planning anything special, and about the song they were doing with Corn Mo. He said something, then told me to walk over more to where he was sitting so we could hear better, then he answered and said they weren't sure yet about the songs, but he asked me if I had any requests. The songs I requested he said they were planning on playing, except for I Palindrome I, he said they couldn't play that one. He said something about how they're just trying to put on a good show, and I said "Obviously you wouldn't want to put on a bad show would you? :p" And he said that a bad show is actually quite easy to put on, and he elaborated on that a bit. Then I told him about a dream I had about a bad concert they had (The Beehive in Your Soul dream) and he told me that he had a dream that they were putting on a show once but they got the name of the band wrong and said it was "They Might Be Girl Ants" instead of They Might Be Giants. O_o. Haha. Then he said he liked my earrings (I was wearing these fluffy ball earrings), and I said thanks, and he asked me if I made them. (Sadly, I didn't >.>..) He also asked where I was from and I said "Cincinnati", and we ended the conversation with a handshake and for some reason he said "I'm John Flansburgh" as if I didn't already know that? :/ And I told him my name and he said he hoped I'd enjoy the show. ^^; That was cool.

Corn Mo was neat, I'd never heard any of his stuff before it. He's a very good singer, very dynamic. Some of the lyrics were really funny too!

The TMBG part obviously was great, they played pretty much all the songs I'd hoped for with the exception of a few, but those were less popular ones so it's quite understandable. I was in the front row right in front of Linnell. :] I'd read somewhere on a livejournal TMBG community (I think linnell_girls) that it seems like he tries to make eye contact with lots of individual people in the audience, and yeah, it definitely seems true! He looked me in the eye too many times to count, and my friend who I was with (he was next to me) was like "Jeez, it seems like Linnell kept staring at me, it was kinda creepy".. O_o Haha. I met some cool people at the concert too, and the last song they did with Corn Mo was just amazing! At least in my opinion.

So! For a first concert, it was very very favorable. I was soooo sad, I seriously cried on the way home because I'd looked forward to it for such a long time and it was over. (Yeah I know, I'm pathetic like that... :/ Sorry?) But hopefully I'll get to go to another concert, someday... ^^;

Sorry if this account seems useless, but I wanted to tell somebody! Or somebodies.

A few pictures below, they aren't too great though because my camera's flash stopped working like 1/3 of the way into the show -_-

Here I am talking to Flans, my dad took this picture from the table where they were sitting, I don't even know why he took it, I didn't ask him to or anything. But you can't even see us very well.

Aw, don't cry! That was a freaking awesome first-concert experience, what with meeting Flans and all.

I absolutely loved all the songs They played. 'Cept "Robot Parade". My friend also wanted to hear "I Palindrome I" :/ I think "Ondine" would be an awesome song live, but I've never heard of Them playing it ever.

Cool pictures too. Hurray for good concerts!

he told me that he had a dream that they were putting on a show once but they got the name of the band wrong and said it was "They Might Be Girl Ants" instead of They Might Be Giants

This amuses me. It's always interesting (to me, at least) to hear about dreams of famous people.

I guess it's my turn to note how Allen (lj: alenpcucumber) and I got a "Hey guys" from Flans at the afterconference for TMBG v. McSweeney's.

So, there you have it.

that's great that you met him. i like that he said 'i'm john flansburgh' it's like he's endorsing your meeting. 'i'm john flashburgh and i acknowledge this meeting'
either that or he wanted to make sure you knew you were talking to the right john and not the roadie sitting next to him. ;/ so fun!

I think that maybe John said that so she would be prompted to say her name. That makes Mr. Flansburgh a very nice gentleman.

Haha, that sounds like such a great conversation with Flans!

And it DEFINITELY seems like Linnell is looking at you the whole time. At the Borders in-store I went to, it seemed like he was staring at me. I dunno, maybe he was just looking in my direction. But I like to think he was looking at me, because I'm cool that way. Anyways, I've got no complaints if he was looking. ;)

i was there too!! with my neice who LOVED IT. She was totally ecstatic when they played the Alphabet of Nations and Clap your Hands and Pics of pandas painting.

I was sooo excited to be there, and i have seriously been waiting for them to come to louisville ofr like 7 years, and they finally did, but ALL of my pictures turned out like crap, because i was so excitied and trying to keep an eye on my neice, and take pictures..... and as such, my pics are TERRIBLE.

Awww....SO UNFAIR. *sobs*

How come I never get to talk to famous people, or afford to go to concerts?! :|

Nice pics of the Lebowskifest, though! (and the picture of Linnell's feet, haha) XD

Don't worry - one day you'll be famous, and you'll talk to famous people every day.

That does sound completely amazing for a first experience. I haven't had anything like it and it definately seems like something that was good for you. I don't think I have ever you seen you in tears like that before not at loss of joy. This concert seems to have put alot of energy into you. I bet you won't ever find one to top it. Hey when Lacuna Coil releases their new CD next year and hopefully tour the US next year do you wanna come to a concert with me?

That's really cool how you talked to Flans like a real person rather than a lot of stupid fans calling out und screaming at celeberties. I can understand your disapointment but it's been a while I really want to paint my room now but that's completely random, so I think I'll be going now.
