Tin Man Storyfinders
The place to find Tin Man fanfic
Theme:Tin Man fanfiction
E-mail:
About:This community is for finding those fanfic stories in the universe of SciFi's miniseries "Tin Man" that you are dying to read - or reread!

What This Community IS
  • A place to request help finding a specific Tin Man story. Example: "Anyone know where I can find that story where Glitch falls down a well and Lassie runs to tell Cain?"
  • A place to reap the benefits of stories that have already been found by others.
  • A place to step in with a link or title if you recognize the story being sought. If you know anything about the story - title, author, comm where it was posted - help us out!

What This Community IS NOT
  • A place to ask for a general category of stories. Example: "Anyone know where I can find some good DG/Cain stories?" Requests of this nature will be burned beyond recognition. (Okay, we'll only delete them, but that sounded more dramatic.) We are story detectives here, not a reccing community.
  • A place to rec stories. We're finding them, not pimping them.
  • A place to squee or discuss Tin Man (or anything else). Let's keep this space exclusively for the requests for help in finding stories, okay? :)
  • A place for negative critiques of the stories that are found. Whether requesting a story or commenting with the answer, please refrain from offering your negative opinions about the quality of said story. We're here to provide love connections, to unite or reunite seeker with story, not to humiliate authors. (Mentioning that you liked the story in the course of describing it or linking it is permitted, however. Just don't give us a review.)

How To Make a Request
  1. Search the community with the tags to see if someone has requested and found the story you're looking for already.
  2. Create a post with whatever you remember or know about the story. (If you remember enough that the request will be as long as the fic, trim it down to a reasonable length.) IF YOUR DESCRIPTION IS OF AN ADULT NATURE, YOU MUST PUT IT UNDER A CUT. Any post that violates this policy will be deleted upon discovery and its author de-brained. (Please note that only graphic sexual material is considered "adult." Same-sex pairings are not automatically "adult material.")
  3. Apply the appropriate tags for your post. For example, if you are looking for a fic with a Cain/DG pairing, use the tags "Cain/DG," "Cain," and "DG." Should you need a tag that doesn't yet exist, email the Tin Mod at tm.storyfinders@gmail.com.
  4. When someone comments to your post, respond to their comment even if the fic they offer is not the right one. This is not only courteous, but will aid others who are trying to find your story for you.
  5. Once your story has been successfully found, EDIT YOUR ORIGINAL POST. Your edit should include the name of the helpful soul who found the story, the story's title and author name, and a link to the story. This will make it easier for others watching the comm togo looking for stories whose descriptions intrigued them.
  6. Once your request has been answered, please do not delete or strike-through your post. Leave it as is in order to aid other members who might be looking for the same story.

How To Respond to a Request
  1. Comment to the post with the story's title if you know it, the author's name if you know it, and a link, preferably to the story itself.
  2. If you don't have all of the above information but know something about it - for instance, you think it might have been by author [info]tinman_author - or think you saw it on a particular community, feel free to comment with your speculations. It might aid the original poster or others who are trying to find it.
  3. Do not comment just to chime in with "I'd like to read that, too!" unless you have some useful information that could help to locate it. You'll only get the poster's hopes up for nothing.
  4. Similarly, refrain from commenting to express your opinion that you read the story in question and believe it to be a steaming pile of Toto-poo. Chances are the author will see your comment, and we aim to be a civil bunch of story detectives.
