Announcing the biggest thing to hit Tin Man fan fiction! The Tin Man Grand Prix is a 10-week rotating challenge designed to test your skills and creativity as an author. It is a double-blind competition, meaning readers won't know who has written any given piece. This levels the playing field for authors who don't have large followings. You stand solely on your talent as a writer. At the end of ten weeks, the authors with the most points will be crowned as the best of the best. Think you're up for the challenge? Grand Prix Rules: All posting rules and general community guidelines apply. Registration is open, but you must register to get your Author Code and password to participate. If you sign up, you may not skip more than three rounds. You must participate in the first round after you sign up or you will be disqualified. You may only post one response to each round. You may not cross post any of your stories until after the Grand Prix is finished. You will be given a password to a Grand Prix account. You may not change either the password or any of the account settings for the account. You can find more account-specific rules here. You will be given an Author Code which must remain confidential for the duration of the contest. If you leak your code, you will be disqualified from the Grand Prix. Posting access will be suspended for all members except the moderators and the Grand Prix accounts until the end of the challenge. Prompt Schedule: 16 May thru 23 May - Round One prompt open 24 May thru 30 May - Round Two prompt open 31 May thru 6 June - Round Three prompt open 7 June thru 13 June - Round Four prompt open 14 June thru 20 June - Round Five prompt open 21 June thru 27 June - Round Six prompt open 28 June thru 4 July - Round Seven prompt open 5 July thru 11 July - Round Eight prompt open 12 July thru 18 July - Round Nine prompt open 19 July thru 25 July - Round Ten prompt open	Each Friday during the challenge, beginning 23 May, the prompt round will close promptly at 5:00 pm CDT and the polls will be posted by 6:00. The polls will determine the points earned in each round. When voting in the polls, keep the basic elements of a good story in mind: were the characterizations sound, was the plot clearly understandable, and were the grammar and spelling consistently solid? Another thing to keep in mind is whether or not the author did something unique with the challenge rather than following the same direction as other submissions. Voting Rules: Voting scale will be from 1 to 5, 1 being poor, 3 being average, and 5 being excellent. A rating of 5 should be used sparingly for stories that are examples of superior writing quality. You must vote in the polls or your entry will be disqualified Special categories may be used in the polls, and the option will be to pick the best entry for that category. Explanation of Points System: The average score for each story will be rounded to the nearest whole number. That is the amount of points you will receive from that round. Special Categories will be worth up to 5 extra points. The exact amounts will be announced in each poll. At the end of the Grand Prix, the points will be added up and banners will be handed out to the members with the most points.

General Community Rules and Guidelines For the most part, this is a three-strikes community, meaning you'll get two warnings for breaking any of these rules. Not two warnings per rule. Two warnings, period. After that, you're banned. Breaking any of these rules will result in disqualification of any stories currently submitted to any challenge. This is an all-inclusive community. All ships are welcome, all genres are welcome, and all subject matters are welcome. As long as it's based on Tin Man, it's all welcome. We even extend the invitation to crossovers. That being said, flaming, bashing, and hazing are not allowed. The mods are in good with the Witch's remaining Mobats. In the interest of fairness, you may only join this community with one account. Puppet accounts, when they are discovered, will be banned and the mods will restrict the posting access for your main account for a period of time as deemed fair by the moderators and the maintainer of the community. This is a contest driven community and using multiple accounts to either post stories or vote for stories gives a single member an unfair advantage over the other members. Breaking this rule may result in immediate banning, no matter how many warnings you have. We detest cheating and will act accordingly. This community is moderated for the purpose of ensuring that all member-submitted posts are for sponsored challenges. If you are looking for a place to post any other story, please visit tinman_fic, the_o_z, or any of the character-centric or ship-specific communities. A fairly comprehensive list of these communities can be found here. Authors may not vote for their own stories when it comes time to pick a winner for each challenge. We will know if you do, even in the Grand Prix. This will result in disqualification, no questions asked. You do not have to be a member of tm_challenge to vote for a story. Members may not ask their friends to vote for their stories, though they may encourage them to read the stories and vote in the polls. The owner of this community, moony_blues, reserves the right to change any of these rules, at any time, without notice. Please be sure to check this page often for updates.	Entry submission rules and Guidelines: As mentioned to the left, this community is moderated. If your story is not a response to any of our challenges, please post it to one of the other fic communities. We have no tolerance for plagiarism. If it's not yours, don't claim it. If we find that you've plagiarized a work, not only will that piece be immediately removed from the community, but you will be banned and reported to stop_plagiarism. All entries should have a standard header: Story Title Rating: K-MA (Please use ESRB as the MPAA doesn't want fan fiction sites to use their rating system) Characters: Especially if you have a ship! Disclaimer: Tin Man belongs to... Warnings: We're pretty lenient on the warnings, but if your content is really heavy, such as rape, pedophilia, incest, and all of the squickiest stuff, it's required. In other words, don't worry about warning for angst, slash (as that's in your "Characters" column), or original characters. Summary: No more than 100 words for the summary, please! It's a summary, for crying out loud. All stories, whether 100-word drabbles or 50-chapter epics, must be under a cut. No exceptions. Fake cuts (links to the story on your personal page) are allowed. Authors are responsible for tagging their peices with the appropriate tags! When it's time to post the polls, we use the tags to quickly identify which entries need to be included in the polls. If you don't tag your story, then we'll miss it. The moderators cannot be held responsible for missing your piece if you don't tag it. If you find that you've forgotten your tag, you have no more than 24 hours to notify the moderators and have it fixed. After that point, we won't change the poll. Spelling and grammar are very important. While a spelling error here or a comma splice there won't get you disqualified, don't expect to win a challenge if your piece is riddled with typos. Unless otherwise stated in the challenge posts, you may enter up to three unique responses to each challenge.
