Question: Phone and Network Errors
I have a Phillips Series II that has been bullet proof since day one. It is about 4 yrs old.

I also have a Humax Series II that has been nothing but a PITA since day 1.  My current problem is that it keeps giving me "error 126" when I try to go to phone and network settings.  I have had to reboot it 2X in the past month and the last time a reboot did not work, I had to manually go to standby and then unplug it for a minute.

This happens almost daily now.  I notice it when my ethernet connection blinks that "pulsing not connected" flash pattern. I check my network and I cannot even see the Humax Box. ( I can still see the Phillips box and all the other stuff on my home network).  So I do a hard reboot and it fixes itself allowing connection to the internet, and allowing me to transfer shows again.

Do I need to "erase everything and start over?"  Does anyone else have this problem?  Is there a fix/patch something?

I am afraid it is going to shit twice and die in the very near future.

Current Mood: worried

Philips never made a Series2, just Series1 - do you mean a Pioneer Series2?

When this problem happens on the Humax, have you tried pulling the USB adapter to see if it clears up? What adapter are you using on the Humax? How about the other Series2? Are they both on this list? http://www.tivo.com/adapters

If they're not the same adapter make, model, and revision, have you tried swapping them to see if the Humax works better with the other adapter and/or if the problem moves to the other box? If the problem follows the adapter, then you know the source.

Are both boxes running 8.1 now?

Yes,

I mean a Pioneer Series II. I did not try pulling the adapter and seeing if that is the issue, I will try that tonight. It is a D-Link wireless adapter on the approved list and I am using the same one on the Pioneer as the Humax. I will try swapping them and see what happens.

Not sure which version they are running. I will check that too when I get home. Thanks for the tips and advice, I will reply back with my results.

I've seen this before on our Pioneer. Usually happens after playing around with some of the web-related stuff that you see under Photos, etc. or even sometimes Tivocast or Products. I think it must pick up a bad packet that does a buffer over-run or something. I usually just reboot the box when it is convenient and the wireless router upstairs. I have a Linsys router and also a supported linksys wireless access point that plugs directly into the back of the box.

I also see some signal strength degradation at times and usually straightening out the wireless at the back of the unit and it's little antenna helps. But I do this along with a restart of the Tivo and a reboot of the router upstairs.
