TiVo has released an update to 7.3: 7.3.1 Update: This update addresses several issues with the 7.3.0 release. So if you have 7.3.0 and you're experiencing any issues, or if you haven't received 7.3 yet and want to get the latest update, you can sign up here.
There have been a number of little things reported on 7.3, there is a thread over in TiVoCommunity.com about it. Mostly UI glitches - 'Clear' won't delete a recording in the TDL list, you have to go into the recording description to cancel it. Things like that. TiVo never really relases a list of changes in each release, so there is no list of just what is fixed. It just looks like a bugfix release to fix some/all of the issues in 7.3.
Multi Item Delete was also listed as a new feature. You could mark several items as deleted at once. I just hope this fixes the slowness of the guide. On my HUMAX DVD Recorder TiVo it takes about 5 seconds for the guide to come up. - Craig
That's the main addition. There were small things like queued deletion, where you can hit clear repeatedly and not wait for each show to delete before doing the next one. And for S2DT owners 7.3 gave them Recently Deleted, which other boxes had in 7.2.2.
I'm glad they released this 'cause I thought I'd be stuck with some of these bugs and they were conscious decisions TiVo had made to change the interface. When you were looking at your 'To Do List' and deleting shows, it'd always return to the beginning of the list and not where you were looking before the delete. A couple of annoying changes. Sometimes I can't enter 'Thumbs Up' more than once when playing back a show. I get the kick-drum error sound and then the one that was entered disappears.
Plus, my machine has been really slow. Great that they're paying attention to this stuff.
Usually Tivo is so good with not adding little bugs. (Well, at least bugs that affect me.) But this release I was annoyed by both the Clear in the To-Do list, and not being able to view more info on a program with Enter. Just dumb changes. Hope this fixes both of those.
Not sure if this was a bug or not, but we recently had some channel changes that were not correct. We had to go back in and setup via the channel list...
If the service provider (cable, sat, etc) reports a change to Tribune Media Services, then that is propigated to all their customers, including TiVo. TiVo just passes on the data they're given by TMS, which they get from the carriers.
tivo will not admit it but all of the problems is a software glitch with the 7.3.1 software. when you call and inquire about it they send you to the manufacturer who is humax, for hardware problems. leave it to tivo to pass the buck.
