Welcome to

thriftstoreuk! As the name suggests, this is a community for selling new and second-hand goods, be it clothes, shoes, accessories, make up, CDs, games… anything, really! This is a strictly UK based community - we do not allow members from outside the UK :)

How do I join?

****Before you join the community, you MUST have already joined tsuk_feedback. tsuk_feedback runs alongside this community, and it is for all feedback-related entries regarding trades and transactions taking place on thriftstoreuk. It is in your own interest to check it regularly for updates on anything that may concern you.****

Everyone is welcome to apply to the community. If you click the 'join community' link your request to join will be noted, and as long as your journal fits our criteria, you will be allowed into the community. HOWEVER, as a new member you will only be allowed to BUY until you have accumulated 5 feedback. You will be allowed to post wants posts and also comment on other posts, but you will not be allowed to make a selling post until you have gained the 5 feedback.
If you already have established good buying AND selling feedback on ebay, please feel free to email us at tsukmods [@] gmail [.] com. If you have established feedback elsewhere on livejournal, please also feel free to email us and let us know :)

This increased security is due to a definite increase in fraudulent transactions over the past year and is purely to protect our members, old and new :)</b>

BASIC RULES AND GUIDELINES

1. Any pictures posted outside of a cut must be 300 x 300 pixels or less!
320 x 240 is allowed as it is photobuckets resize option, which makes things easier.

2. Items are only allowed to be posted once a week! If you make a post on Monday, you can not make another post with the same items until the next Monday.

3. If you are posting more than once in the same day, please combine it! Its not fair to push other peoples posts down the front page when its very easy to edit a post later if you forget something.

4. EBAY POSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED. If you are making another post and have ebay auctions running, feel free to link to them. But don't make a post specifically for your ebay auctions, it will get deleted.

5. Off topic posts are allowed, but please bear in mind there is normally loads of communities more relevant to your question! Be sensible and use google!

6. Proof of postage needs to be obtained when you send goods out! If you do not get p.o.p and the items you send out go missing, you will be held responsible for the missing items and subsequent refund.

7. Posts should now all be TAGGED! Its very easy to tag posts, if you need help please check out the FAQ

8. This community is not EBAY. If someone offers you a higher amount for an item that someone else has already asked about, give the first person a chance before giving it straight to the higher bidder - its just plain rude if you just sell it over their head without even giving them a chance.

9. Replica items of any kind are not permitted since July 2008. This includes handbags, jewellery, make-up etc. This also includes 'back-up' copies of CDs and DVDs, and especially any software. Posting anything of this kind will lead to a ban.

10. Breaking any of these rules will lead to an official warning, and a second warning will lead to a lifetime ban.

FEEDBACK

♥ A feedback system has been in place since OCT2004 to help us see how experienced and successful our members are as buyers and sellers.

tsukfb_2007 is there for you to refer to when you wish to have a better idea of how experienced the user you are dealing with is. You can check how many successful and unsuccessful trades any member has had.

Before you leave feedback, please make sure to familiarise yourself with the best way to do so, by looking at the examples on the

tsuk_feedback user info. ♥ If you need any more help regarding leaving feedback, please check the FAQ.

FORBIDDEN ITEMS

It is forbidden to sell any bootlegged/copied videos, DVDs, CDs, software and video games on this community, no matter how you try to disguise them (e.g. calling them "special" CDs). If a moderator finds any of these items in your post, your post will be deleted and you will be banned. Not only is it against LiveJournal’s terms of service, but it is also completely illegal. We are not going to risk the community because you want to save a few quid!

It is also forbidden to sell replica designer goods, including jewellery, handbags, make-up, perfume etc.

With regards to the sale of drugs, it is absolutely forbidden to sell drugs prescribed to you by your doctor, or any illegal drugs. Drugs that you can buy over-the-counter are fine, such as vitamin supplements, but it's best to e-mail the mods first to check. Please see this post for the rules on the sale of drugs and pills.

It is forbidden to sell cigarettes or alcohol.

If you are selling adult items, such as adult dvds/books or sex toys etc, you must lock your entry, and ensure the buyer is 18.

If you wish to sell home made food or toiletry items, you must have a valid certificate.
