So, this batch comes from a Goodwill in another nearby rural area college town, much like my own.
I bought an amazing chair from here.
The rest? Bah. ( Horrors? You decide. )

So, there's this place in my town called the Peddler's Mall. Old people come and sell old crap. It's like Goodwill, except for the elderly who's junk ends up there are living.
It is a damn candy store.
( See? I tells you. )
More to come. A lot more. Like, four more posts. But wait... :D |

I don't get to post often, so I'm delighted to be able to post this- I saw one in a thrift store a while back, and cursed not getting a pic of it... then, lo and behold, an online shop turned out to carry these... making the find all the funnier... since it wasn't a statue that was 'adapted' by a crafter, but one actually manufactured this way!

The small roundish statue is traditionally called "The Weeping Buddha" or "the Weeping Yogi" because it depicts a meditation pose in which the person is soaking up the sorrows of the world...
This one has been made into an "incense burner"... I don't think they thought that out, when they designed it tho...
Here's a link to the place that sells them, for the curious... I dunno as they will sell many of this 'speared' looking yogi incense burners tho! owie! poor little guy...

This last week my fella and I went to Gettysburg, PA to look at places where lots of people died in the Civil war. We took about 750 pictures between us. (Gotta love digital.) My sweetie well knows I am not interested that much in the history of the place (though it is beautiful and I took lots of lovely wildflower and bird pictures.) So he told me that if something came up that interested me, we could do it. Sadly, we did not have time or money for The Land of Little Horses, I did find a Goodwill on the Way to Gettysburg.

I went thrifting last week at the Goodwill and then Village Discount Outlet (both on Waterloo Rd. in Akron). As usual, there was plenty of tacky stuff. Unfortunately I could capture all the horros because there were too many people around and I'm always afraid of getting in trouble.
( Here's the worst of it. ) |

I frequent the goodwill in Orange, CA at least once a week. Most the time I find one or two...interesting...things, but I always forget my camera. Well, I finally had my camera on me one day! The pics are a few months old now, since it takes me a while to remember to upload them.

[May. 8th, 2008|11:05 am] |
So, this trip to the local Goodwill was fruitful, in a way. I found a little bit of ugly, and I made the most amazingly trashy purchase evar.
An engraved ashtray to "Papa Papaw" for his 60th birthday from "Truitt and Meagean."
:D
BUT ON TO THE PEEKTURES.
( Follow the bouncing ball! )
More to come. ;D |

| [ | mood |
| | amused | ] | Hey guys! So these pictures are all from a 99 cent store here in Decatur, Georgia... I know it isn't an official thrift store but I like to think of 99 cent stores as thrifty versions of the dollar store, so I hope this post is acceptable. I was just aghast at some of the stuff that I found and knew that I had to share it with y'all!!
Sorry for the low quality of the pics... all I had was my cell phone!
Enjoy...
