About
Slash. Original slash. Bent fiction. Gay fiction. Gay romance. Homoerotica. Or porn.

What is this thing we do? Why do we do it? Why do we love it? And how can we make it better? This is a place to talk about writing and reading slash/romantic fiction/other genres featuring same sex original characters as the primary pairing in the story. Sex doesn't need to be present or the focus, but you guys know what 'slash' is.

Because if we want to write about gay people, we should support GLBT rights, so discussion of GLBT issues are also on topic here. Homophobes are not welcome.

Simple rules.
1. All members are moderated until their first post.
2. Anything to do with writing or reading original slash is welcome here. You can discuss topics arising from fanfiction but your post must be generally applicable to original writing as well. No fandom specific posts.
3. Don't ask for betas here, please.
4. Don't post story announcements. You may post a link to your stories/site as part of a discussion post. If you want to announce your new work, may we suggest [info]ah_gayfiction, [info]origslash_news, [info]original_slash or [info]the_originals
5. Behave. No personal attacks. Engage vigorously, but keep it clean. Discuss ideas and stories, not the author themselves (though you can discuss behaviour).
6. Using the term 'political correctness' to deride inclusiveness or attempts to not cause deep offense, will get you banned.
7. The moderator has the final word over what's acceptable. She's not your mother. She's a lot *meaner* than your mother.

[info]thisthingwedo is about discussion. Some of the discussions get a bit heated from time to time and that's fine - it's often difficult to judge tone and intent over text based conversations, and I'm pretty bad at it. So long as you plan to stick around and let people explain themselves or explain yourself, then it's okay that things get a bit fraught.
