... is that I hate, loathe and detest Indiana Jones, from his stupid theme tune to his stupid whip; from his unattractive actor, to his equally unattractive plots. Indiana Jones' FANS, though, I rate really highly. In contrast to, say, Eurovision watchers, Indy fans have, without exception, put their rambling entries of squee behind cuts to make it easier for those of us who wish to scroll past.
The foregoing paragraph is as close as I get to a gentle hint. If you posted anything important between 11am and the commencement of Eurovision yesterday, do let me know, because I got sick of scrolling back past all the huge entries "liveblogging" a pointless contest full of crap music that I gave up
In more happy news: happy birthday
missdiane and
bibliophile1887!
Also: happy Towel Day, everyone! I have chosen a small, symbolic, decorative towel. I hope you all know where your towel is.

In conciliatory news: I rant on about religion quite a lot. When I rant on about religion, I think I generally mean "the church" (or insert equivalent institution for other religions). I mean dogmatic, unbending, intolerant, bureaucratic religion.
There are many religious people who are tolerant, kind, forgiving, and non-judgemental. Certainly in terms of Christianity, these are the ones that I tend to think of as Proper Christians: the ones who are actually following the teachings of Christ as set down in the bible (don't be judgemental, help other people but don't preach at them, etc.). These are not the sort of people I am talking about when I am angry about "the religious". The sort of people I am talking about are people like Cardinal Cormac Carpark O'Murphy's Irish Stout, who wants to try to reduce abortion by making it illegal (which won't work) instead of promoting contraception (which will) because he thinks contraception is just as bad as abortion.
I suspect there's more of the former than the latter reading my blog.
ihavecake, ,
caseytalk,
el_staplador, and the afore-mentioned
bibliophile1887 I'm looking at you in particular. It's only a shame that there isn't a whole lot more people like you guys in the real world.
Anyway, do comment if you can think of a suitably pithy and clear term for referring to idiot religious people, as opposed to tolerant and intelligent religious people...
