| More Updates |
[Feb. 25th, 2007|10:12 am] |
The main page now has Quotations of the Day, as well as some new features that'll include a Featured Article of the Month and a Store so people can help keep the wiki cost-effective. Still looking for help in getting the episode pages done, because once those are completed, then we can branch off from those and start creating the esoteric articles like Josh's Backpack.
I also embedding a quick sound file on the main page, let me know if it's too distracting/annoying or whatnot.
For those want to join the QOTD project, please let me know, here.
Thanks. |

| Updates |
[Feb. 24th, 2007|02:20 am] |
There've been a few changes to the wiki's structure since the last time I've posted. I've been generally working on getting the episode guide up and running, because I feel like those episode pages will be the backbone of the site.
Also, we have a new logo and background; one I feel acknowledges the work of Aaron Sorkin.
I still need help with the wiki, so if any of you still willing to help out, please step up and be heard :) |

| Staff Positions |
[Jun. 30th, 2006|10:15 pm] |
I need some staff positions filled, and I've kind of made them analogous to positions at the White House :)
Chief of Staff (Site Administrator): Oversees the general fuction of the site, hires key staff members, has final word on everything (since funding comes from here). [This is me! :)]
Deputy Chiefs of Staff (Lead Project Organizers): Four people who are the project leads for each Major Project (such as 'People', 'Places', 'Things', and 'Out of Context'). They appoint and direct project organizers for smaller projects under their header, such as '
Communications Director (Lead Copy Editor): This person will determine site-wide copy editing policy for all projects and articles on the site, including fanfics that might be posted.
C'mon guys... only one other person has actually created a new file or edited something. I need to know I'm not carrying a majority of the water on this. ;) |

| Episode Pages... |

I made a sample page for the first episode. Can I get some feedback on it? I feel like I'm talking to an empty room. |

| Main Page and Character Pages |
[Jun. 29th, 2006|08:01 pm] |
If you've been the wiki lately, you'll notice that we have a new front page with some future indices.
Several character pages have been created, with a need for people to fill them. I also need some people to step up and take the reigns of some of the projects, like People (would be a great start), and maybe get started on the Timeline or Season Index.
Please comment here if you're still interested in jumping on board with a project. Thanks! |

A temporary logo has now been added to the wiki. No more reminding daisy :) |

| User Pages |

Don't forget to do your user pages. Maybe link to your livejournals or put your real name down (if you're comfortable with that). I just did three lines and then highlighted my favorite quotations from the show. :) |

| Projects, Projects, Projects! |
[Jun. 27th, 2006|12:44 pm] |
So we have a list of projects we need organizers and contributors for. I've gone ahead and just separated them out into huge general projects, which could easily break out into smaller ones if the lead organizer wants. So here goes:
- People: These are articles for all people on the show, written from the perspective that they are real and not characters on a TV show. All articles should be done in a lastname, firstname (mi) format, such as Bartlet, Josiah E. or McGarry, Leo T. or Lyman, Joshua.
- Places: These are articles dealing with all the locations within the show. Such as The White House or Foggy Bottom or Manchester, New Hampshire.
- Things: These are articles dealing with the little odds and ends of things in the show. Such as Josh's Backpack or Toby's Superball or the Press Briefing Podium.
- Out-of-Context: In order to provide a fully comprehensive site, we're going to need to catalogue the out-of-context stuff like episodes, seasons, etc. This is a gigantic part of the project, and the in-context articles are going to need to reference these pages to show source/reference to write their articles. Smaller projects may or may not include Episode Transcripts (this would be a huge project in itself).
Any suggestions or ideas? Please advertise we're looking for writers, and we'll be holding the same standards as Wikipedia when writing. We have nearly 20 people so far, but the more fans we get, the better!
If you're interested in being an organizer (project leader), now's the time to speak up! :)
PS: We also need a logo for the wiki. Any artists out there willing to give it a shot? |

| Wikipedia articles |

What do you guys think of using Wikipedia articles as jumping off points? I just pretty much pasted the Josh Lyman article into our wiki, and now I'm not sure if that was a good thing to do or not...what's everyone think? |

| Welcome! |
[Jun. 27th, 2006|12:55 am] |
| [ | mood |
| | excited | ] | Welcome to the community; I'm known as MDg over there, and occasionally I'll edit some files as TheOval (the main sysop account).
Let's talk about projects and ideas, and how we present the world this tribute to such an awesome show. I'll leave you with this quotation from President Bartlet:
"There's a new book, and we're gonna write it. You can win if you run a smart, disciplined campaign, if you studiously say nothing -- nothing that causes you trouble, nothing that's a gaffe, nothing that shows you might think the wrong thing, nothing that shows you think. But it just isn't worthy of us... It isn't worthy of us, it isn't worthy of America, it isn't worthy of a great nation. We're gonna write a new book, right here, right now. This very moment. Today." |
