Three cheers for the Union Maid: )

Hello: )

In the spirit of all things shiny *Jules poked me ouch!* and because I compulsively transcribe songs badly, much to the amusement of who ever has written it I am sure, but it’s a thing that I do and I enjoy it: )

Here are the last three Union maids for your perusal, they probably have errors all over the place and all and any help or discussion would be gladly received: )
Cheers

World Cafe Live - Philadelphia, PA (11/10/06)

Hi! This is my first time posting in the community. I never really had much to contribute until now but I've been following it for a while.

I hope gig show review type posts are allowed here. If not I'll delete this entry...

I was at the Philly show last week. It was awesome by the way! I had a lot of fun. It was the first time I had seen the guys live in almost too years. I thought the show was fantastic and a lot of fun. I forgotten how much I missed seeing CoRo perform. There didn't seem to be a large crowd at the show which I kind of enjoyed.

I took a few pictures and even a couple video clips. I also wrote a fairly long and geeky review concerning the show in my livejournal in case anyone is interested in reading. I posted a somewhat detailed recount of the set list and a few more pictures if that entices you any! :)

A few pictures + copy of set list )

I don't mind sharing my photos if people wish to make artwork. I encourage it! Although I do wish some credit to be given. I have some more pictures of the show and a couple other odds and ends relating to the show in my photobucket account here. :)

Video Clips )

Enjoy!!

x-posted to [info]commonrotation and the forum. :)

site stats?

Is anyone at all remotely interested in the site stats for the Archive? If so, you can check them at http://theunionmaid.com/stats/ with the login/password of unionmember/dues. I thought it'd be neat to see what the stats looked like for the month of October since that includes a month of streaming music (added on 9/27).

Total transfer: 7.66 gigabytes
Busiest week: Oct/22/06
Busiest day: Oct/27/06
Top search term: union maid
Number of DLs: 4256
Number of streamed: 651

I also added a favicon, though IE is being picky about showing it.

nothing new

There is NO reason to go visit the site right now. Nope, nothing NEW or anything like that.

Please let me know if this nothing new thing is buggy for anyone.

;-)

P.S. Posts like this with multiple songs will stream more of the songs. The ones that don't sound like chipmunks.

Hey all, in case you didn't know, CoRo are on MySpace now as well. Here's a link to their profile *crosses fingers hugely and hopes that works*.

They have "The New Union Maid" up there as one of the profile song feeds too, so I can surmise that if you throw that on as your profile song (or go to their profile, whichever), you'll always get your latest Union Maid fix! Sweet. :)

"Picture Show"

If you hadn't seen it at the forum, Darrell Wright had posted a video of photos from a show where his camera was on auto. It looks pretty cool, and I am putting it on the Archive so more people can see it. I added two songs to it so far because it is silent originally. Take a look and tell me what you think!

untitled 060129...= EDIT! - "DIFFERENT DANCES"

Still nameless ..so I had a go at getting the words down... because it deserves a title! Any gap-fillers/correcters/title choosers about? ;)

Kicking down the block
Singing with the smokes
It's only rock 'n' roll
But I love you so
Recognise the wind and the burning (end)
Heading in the back
for some showers again

Passing the fence
where the hole comes through
Our ... used it
to sneak out on the golf course
Abused all the same historical roles
and locked them in a tin
to save the total ...

The (grass) will mellow out to the human (core)
Scraping our (will) never gotten ...
The rain coming down
for the rest of the month
Keeping our noses
touching that (guitar)

Next year we'd all need new pairs
We'll sing you a mix
and how, depends on the stares
And all of the dances will be so different
but right then the beat was fully realised

ETA: I already changed my mind and edited the last verse!

based on that .....suppose can stop at the first line and save me the rest of the transcript just title it "Kicking Down The Block" ?
I also like "Different Dances" but then I'm slightly odd.

Answering the call...

... seemed to be the thing to do, for a self confessed and incurable Union Maid ADDICT! So I will now be co-modding the community with [info]roniabirk from here on in: Thanks for having me on board!

No! #416 still untitled? I have a compulsion to name - but this one has me stumped too .. I feel a few dozen listens coming up.. unless.....has anyone tagged it for their own records yet and can help me write something more appropriate, meaningful and worthy than "unionmaid290106" on my file?! *G*

New Mods Wanted

Hey you guys! I am getting ready to take some time off from various LJ communities, and I think this one in particular could benefit from someone with more time to dedicate to it. With that in mind, would anyone care to join me as a Mod here? I'm looking for probably two people who are still active on the CR forum and going to shows, etc. Just leave a comment. They are screened, and hopefully I can let everyone know by the end of tomorrow, if not today.

THANKS!

P.S. A number of new songs have been posted this week. Be sure to check them out. =)

statistics are fun!

Just a note to share some statistics. Since moving the Union Maid Archive to a new host, this is the traffic the site has done:

Mar 08, 2005 to Oct 18, 2005 (223.40 days)

Successful requests: 181,915
Average successful requests per day: 814
Data transferred: 41.75 gigabytes
Average data transferred per day: 191.37 megabytes

From the old site:
Apr 21, 2004 to Mar 8, 2005 (~323 days)

Successful requests: 220,024
Average successful requests per day: 682 (rough estimate)
Data transferred: 30.91 gigabytes (rough estimate)
Average data transferred per day: 98.01 megabytes (rough estimate)

So it's safe to say the traffic isn't dying down. ;-)

Not necessarily a Union Maid icon, but CR all the same. I will try to get Eric ones (1 down) made of his little goofs from the DVD trailer, too. It takes a little time to get them to fit LJ size. =)
