Current mood: hopeful

This is going to be one long post!
I still haven't made up my mind on buying The Sims 2 again, however I need some advice.
How many of you are running The Sims 2 on a PC laptop, with Vista?
I've thought...well crap...my GHz is 1.50, I have a very...basic video card....9 hundred something family chipset Intel Centrio Duo......not sure if that's even a video card...
Also I have 1014 Memory (RAM)

So here are several questions:

Would The Sims 2 Deluxe be really slow on my laptop?
Would it be better to get Sims Life Stories? Or even...get the original Sims Collection?
I miss The Sims 2 so bad, I miss making their lives hell or awesome...the aliens...the vampires...the funny amusing plots oh and making legacies!

Sorry if this post is extremely confusing...or boring...but yeah!

Also, does anyone still play The Sims (Original Games)?

(ALSO, to make myself really want to get back on the Sims 2 wagon, has anyone ever found a Tiny Tim sim?)

I will love you for all time if you've created him, or even something similar in looks.

All I can help you with is I'm on a Vostro 1500 (laptop) with Vista and I have Sims 2 Deluxe, Uni, Pets, Seasons, and most of the stuff packs and it runs fine, I just need a new graphics card

Just curious, may I ask how many GHz you have? (lol)
My only real concern is if it takes 30 minutes for a sim to take a bath/shower.

If I hadn't of thrown away the Sims 1 while moving, I'd still be playing it. I was doing some kind of aversion therapy and it obviously doesn't work..

I have The Sims 2 running on my laptop which has vista. (I have The sims 2, Uni, Nightlife, Open for Buisness, Pets, Seasons, Christmas stuff and Family fun stuff..)

My GHz is 1.60 with 1022 MB RAM and I think I have some form of AMD card (the sticker is all scratched and impossible to read, thats to my 4 y.o sister)

But yeah, sims runs pretty well on it! I have most the graphics settings up high and it doesnt lag or anything, and thats with all my expansions + GBs of downloads.

Hope that helps some :)

I also run The Sims 2 on a Vista laptop (Sony Vaio VGN-FE880E). I have The Sims 2, Nightlife, OFB, Pets, Seasons. 1.66 GHz, 2 GB RAM, and a default 9x card like yourself.

I keep all graphics settings as high as possible and they're great for being a laptop with just a default graphics card. I have little to no lag unless another program (anti-virus especially!) is acting up.

I run the base game, NL and Seasons on an Acer Aspire 5570 with Vista (Home Premium, if it makes a difference). My graphics card is Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset Family, and I've got a gig of RAM, 2 GHz Processer. I've also got plenty of custom content, but I think I've got it compressed down to under a gig.

The loading times vary. Sometimes the screen will just sit there and won't actually do anything for a few minutes. Once it actually starts loading, it's only a couple minutes. When I first enter a house, it's usually a little slow, but it speeds up after a few minutes. Sometimes it'll lag spontaneously, but that's probably just because I triple speed a lot. XD

With any other computer, I'd want to kill it every time it lags... it lags on everything, not just the Sims 2. I blame vista because my stats are good. Better than my parents' laptop, and theirs runs way faster. But it's my laptop that I bought myself, so I'm pretty patient with it. I normally grab a book or some homework to work on for loading times and whenever it lags. :D

I run on vista and i have 2gb of ram and a very low end amd graphics card. somewhere in the 1200 family, if i remember correctly. Generally the game runs perfectly fine with all the graphics settings up and reflections on.

Love your mood set, btw ;)

That might be cutting it. It's just because Vista takes up so much power. It sounds like you have an integrated video card, too.

I have Deluxe and H&M fashion stuff on Vista, looks like same Video card as you, only 512 MB RAM, and it's slow to load, and lags when you first enter a neighborhood/lot, but then it's fine.

Just make sure you aren't running any other programs, and I like to keep the task manager running, just in case.

Ah ok!
Question, did you having any problems with your Deluxe?

Nope.. other than the aforementioned slow loading times. And community lots tend to get laggy the more Sims that are on them.. but I've never had it crash, and the times I thought it froze I was just being impatient.

Hey hope this helps. I use a 2Ghz dualcore processor with Vista Home Premium and Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 graphics card. Have 2gigs of RAM and have Sims 2 base + all EPs and SPs up to TSS. Runs fine. Noticed slower load time lately but i think it has to do with the staggering amount of CC i have somehow managed to accumulate...

The specs required for Sims 2 are usually very min requirements and i read somewhere that it's best to double that for optimum performance, esp if you're running Vista.

Maybe upgrading to a better graphics card with more memory could help? Or even upgrading RAM? Making sure you don't have any background tasks running should help a lot. Haven't tried any of the Sims Stories (though I might get Castaway Stories - looks really cool!) but as it's made for laptops, I imagine they'd take into account integrated graphics cards and it would run the Sims Stories really well.

I use a PC laptop with Vista, and don't have any problems. After playing two hours, my game slows down a little during fast-forwarding, but it's not bad really noticeable.

Oh, and unfortunately all I remember about my laptop is that it's a Compaq Presario c500.

I have the base game, OFB, Pets, Seasons, University and NL all on a laptop with Vista, and it runs perfectly. I do have twice as much RAM as you do, but we recently upgraded it and it ran at a decent speed before (there may have been 1014 before, I'm not sure).

So yeah, I think you'll be okay.
