If you could have any arcade game in your house, which one would it be?

I'd go for any pinball machine!

I'm on a DDR kick, so I pick that one. My mat sometimes folds, and that makes it hard to hit the proper spot. :-(

Ohhh I didn't even think of that. They sell the metal mats, but I don't know how durable they are.

This, totally. Arcade DDR machines are so much better than the home mats!

If I had a driving one I'd have to get two so I could compete with a friend!

I'm down with a pinball machine too.

But failing that, SF3: 3rd Strike.

Was that the one where you spin a wheel to move your gun along the outside perimeter of this ...hole ... and nasties are climbing up the hole at you and you have to shoot them before they can make it to the top?

I liked that one ... and Missile Command with the giant trackball ... and the one where you're looking through a tank periscope at frame-drawings of mountains and other tanks and things.

Hmmm, we have pinball machines and Space Invaders already, so perhaps something like Pac-Man? I like Pac-man.

Agreed on the pinball machine. My uncle actually owns two and they are really fun to play when we visit! He can also fix them himself which is handy because those things break like crazy.

My husband and I are considering getting one of those games that's a table and you sit on either side to play (look through the glass top to see the screen). That way when not in use, cover it up with a table cloth and you've got an end table!

A local arcade has nearly all of their machines for sale (they replace them when sold) so we've talked about it several times. The one we're eyeing is about $1000, though.

Do multiple games come that way? That sounds really convenient!

I visited an arcade shop downtown before, and yeah, the prices seemed to start at $1000. And those were broken, not-really-popular ones.

Galaga (spelling?), Space Invaders (I think), and another space ship-y one. We also saw another one that was obstacle course-y that had nothing to do with space ships, but my husband wasn't interested in the game and the machine was in such bad shape that I wasn't interested either, so I don't remember what it was.

I don't know the games very well, but those are the ones we've seen that are in that table shape at that arcade. The machines are a little tall/high for a regular end table, but it could work, which is why it appeals to us (he can play it, I can hide it). :)

Oh, and these are at an actual arcade, not an arcade shop, so they're all heavily used. Sometimes they're pretty bad, but if you can find a newer one (that's been replaced recently) you're lucky. But that doesn't happen very often since buying arcade machines isn't a common purchase.
