This is something I've had on my mind for some time now, and I'd be interested in hearing what everyone else thinks. And if anyone's seen similar discussions going on elsewhere on the internet, let me know? I feel like
Pushing Daisies never seems to get discussed except in glowing-but-saddened terms: What a flawless show that was canceled all too soon, and so on. I agree with half of that, but it's the last half I like, not the first.
I love
Pushing Daisies. Own the first season, planning to buy the second, looking forward to the comics, et cetera. However, I've come to realize that while I've really enjoyed the show, I have some major issues with the way women are portrayed on it. In particular, Chuck's role in the series bothers me a lot. I've made a list of a few things that bother me in specific, and they're under the cut.
( Things that bug me about Pushing Daisies )( Why I think these things are problematic )Has anyone else felt similarly on this? Or not, and if you disagree with it, why? And if you have thoughts on how Olive's role (or Lily's, Vivian's, female-character-of-the-week's) in the series compares, I'd love to hear about it; while I like Olive, Chuck is my favourite character, so I've thought a lot more about her than anyone else. This was kind of a lot of tl;dr, so if you got through it, kudos to you and thank you for reading it. ♥
